Sequence of operation is easily in the top 10 things a gas engineer needs to know and this is well explained. Have learnt this information through blood sweat and tears and here it is on a plate. Excellent. Hope that this channel keeps growing and that Allen manages to find the time to post more key videos like this to improve engineering mindsets.
Allen explains a lot better than anyone else on TH-cam. If you want people to actually understand you need to show every single component as you explain . And I mean it - dismount one boiler piece by piece and put them back together in the sequence of operation. I am actually doing my plumbing qualification and then I'll do my gas qualification. It's a shane my teachers are nowhere near Allen when it comes to explaining and knowing what you're doing. Probably Allen is the best guy in trade .
Yes I would love to see more of these videos, especially more on fault finding where the boiler does not give an error code. I am a gas engineer but these jobs take longer to diagnosed.
After watched your videos I visited Viva Training yesterday. Im a QS wanting a carear change so I decided to visit Viva I have a few queries because I want to go into renewables eventually but I will be more then likely signing up with Viva for a new entrants Gas Safe course toping up with renewables. Thanks for your videos and your honest straight forward approach.
Thank You Roy, Baxi 80eco With combustion cover off Boiler worked in both Heating and Hot Water modes. But went, to lockout with cover on. Change APS, changed PCB. It was only when I changed the Boiler, I found the fault. Inner flue clamp had corroded. POC was re-entering the boiler. and causing issues with the flame rectification. Cover off air was taken from the room. One to look out for!
Thanks Roy and Allen, always useful to have an organised systematic approach when fault finding, helps keep a clear head. I too have had the reverse polarity issue, Electricians removed supply from plant room in error and when they reinstated guess what it was reverse polarity, which is one of their fundamental checks when installing any new circuit, took a little while to solve and a visit from me. Real world dilemma .
Simply outstanding video, many thanks and kudos to Roy! Invaluable information well presented and easy to follow! A mini lecture on sequence of operation, keep these videos coming please, we appreciate them!
I’m new to this site and enjoy listening to see if he does it like I used to and found that I’m learning new ways which is no use to me as I retired three years ago and unable to work because of arthritis but enjoy watching them the young guys have no excuse for not knowing what to do. Unfortunately guys that haven’t served there time can sit and get there Gas safe certs and start as gas engineers with no knowledge and I think that’s dangerous
Great video! I would love to see a video with a lot of boilers how do we put them into service mode high and low and how to put them into de-aeration mode, as i think this would be very helpful. Some boilers are very easy to work on, some are very tricky. I recently serviced an Ideal Vogue and i think they have the best menu i saw on a boiler. I don’t have to much experience but i really loved servicing that boiler. Thank you for your support and help Allen!
Hi love the videos good work I have a Worcester green star 35 I’ve replaced pcb board and wiring loom when hot water tap is turned on the boiler climbs to 100 degrees and shuts down the boiler is fine in heating mode when I remove the low power plug from the pump and plug the pump into a power source avoiding the pcb board so pump runs constantly there’s no issues when I put the hot tap on I thinking there’s a issue with the black power box on the side of the pump
Great video Roy , can you run a more in depth fault finding course - hands on at baxi? Other than the 3 day one currently running . Purely going over and over real case fault scenarios ?
Excellent demonstration of the sequence and very useful 👍 Checking off the various components for failure is my nightmare atm lol so your content was class ....thanks Allen & Roy 👍 It’s gotta clic with me at some point lol.
he got great knowledge. i am newly gas safe. i wish i had this much of knowlede. but i do watch all videos from allan and always something new to learn & great information. thanks for sharing knowlegde .. 😊😊😊
I use to repair circuit boards on boilers and washing machines so I needed to learn boiler sequence . I no that I am not qualified to repair boilers but would visit said boiler and testing reviled other component fail . I gave up repairing and went into automotive electrical repairs . I really enjoyed vid and wrote down sentences before watching to see if I remembered .
Out of curiosity how did you learn to fix/repair circuit boards for boilers? I’d be really interested to learn as I imagine it’s alot more environmentally friendly and cheaper than buy a new circuit board when there is a small select that needs replacing to get it back working again
@@dees9295 I spent a long time learning electronics and started with video recorders t.v . All circuit's are just small circuits jointed together. Most repairs are dry joints on parts that have larger current flow ie power supply. Capacitor's or the black bits the ic.
Excellent video, as a newby to repair of boilers found this informative, had a Main 24HE to look at, it would fire up, call for CH or DHW went to flame failure, fan was ok so changed the air pressure switch, now it fired up for about 30 seconds then goes to flame failure, so rang Baxi, they said change the PCB, but the fault is still there, so I’m assuming it’s one of the components after that, could you shed any light as to what it may be?
Hi Allen, thank s for all your great videos. I am working on an Ideal logic 30 boiler. Changed flow turbine and switch plus diverter valve. No hot water, display showing 0 everything else works well, light not coming on turbine switch. Any suggestions would be much appreciated?
Very good and clear video.just that I'm a service engineer and when I tried to put boiler in hot water demand it goes on overheat and cuts off. Comes back on.Baxi Combi 105 HE.diverter valve has been changed.could it be the plate heat exchanger. Would be a great help.thanks
Avnish Kumar, Thanks for the feedback. If the heating is working OK, then yes I would be looking at the plate heat exchanger, if the heating is also causing problems, look at the pump not circulating correctly.
Its excellent video but I wish if we have explanation with a picture of actual part to understand better please can you do other video with a boiler running Thanks
First of all, thank you for the great videos! My question would be regarding the flame modulation. Does the boiler sense the actual amount of flow of heating water (eg.: in liter /sec) or it only senses the temperature of it (in order to generate the voltage signal for the modulating magnet of the gas valve)? In other words, which is the basis input parameter for flame modulation? Is it only the flow temperature or PCB also uses the actual amount of flow for generating the voltage signal for the modulating magnet? Thank you in advance for your answer!
Hi Korum, Generally most boilers use the flow temperature to determine the modulation, however newer boilers which have both flow and return thermistors will use the differential between them to determine modulation.
Can you do a video on why co levels might be really high. Some Manufacturers seem to be happy with 250 ppm and 0.002. I'd prefer to see a better result.
Hello, my question is the following: When the boiler is off, where is the three-way valve positioned towards the heating systems or the sanitary water? Thanks
Super video. Would like to know what the future holds for gas engineers in your opinion or based on news. Do you see hydrogen replacing gas or moving away from fossil fuels all together. What do you see the future looking like for a gas engineer.
SIR Adil-a-lot. I personally think Hydrogen/Natural gas mix and Hydrogen will be the next big thing for domestic boilers, the reason being there are millions of boilers which will need replacing within the next 10-12 years that are located in properties where renewable technologies just aren't an option. Plus companies like Baxi and Worcester wouldn't have invested the money they have developing Hydrogen boilers if they didn't think they would be viable.
Thanks to you both for your time and effort making these useful videos . Could you please cover electric checks on boilers as mentioned in video i.e reverse polarity.many thanks
