- In this video I am going to share my present carburator tuning which is working very efficiently for me in terms of fuel economy and performance on my TVS Apache RTR 200. We will also clean the carburetor exteriors with the cleaner. This carb adjustment process should take around a minute if you directly follow the instructions.
A well tuned carburetor will give you good performance, improved mileage, increased engine life and will solve cold start problem.
NIKAVI CARB AND PARTS CLEANER: amzn.to/2IVTolI
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:
1. Remember you present carb setting.
2. Engine should be properly warmed up before you start working on the carb.
3. The Nikavi carb cleaner should be used on a cold surface (flammable contents).
4. Be gentle with the pilot/fuel screw don't press too hard.
5. If you are making changes by turning the fuel/Pilot screw from the mentioned point (the screw position I have shared) then don't turn the screw for more than 1/4 turn at a time (actually it should be less than 1/4 turn every time).
6. Loosely explaining: Clockwise rotation of fuel/pilot screw is for the leaner side & Anti Clockwise rotation of fuel/pilot screw is for richer side.

U English like java English ,but nice to hear
@The sportztourer - bhai what should be the air fuel screw turn for pulsar 150 classic. And also what is the factory setting ? Can you please help me with it
I have a 2 year old rtr 160 and i have having mileage(30 kmpl) issues all of a sudden. Fuel nut is set at little less than 3 turns and idling at 1100 to 1250. No oil leakage anywhere around Carburettor and there is no thick smoke coming out. What might be the issue?
Bhai Hindi main video daal kyu ki not all people understand what you want say..
Thanks and regards
After tuning my carburetor , seen lot of changes in my bike , no lag , instant pickup , it goes smoothly now , keep making more vedios
Love to watch 😉
Fantastic Rahul 👍 really happy to know that the video has served it's purpose 😊
how many turns did it take clockwise till its end
Same
Even a layman can understand it,i cant believe myself tuning my bike, salute the person for such awesome video
Good content, i really appreciate you describing in english, since i have watched a lot of videos titled in english but explains in hindi. 👏
My RTR 200 was sitting in a place for 5-6 months, I did it's servicing but it was not giving the mileage as it used to give before... So today I thought of tuning the carburetor... My default Carburetor air fuel mixture screw setting was 2 complete revolutions open.... Now I have Opened it with 2.8 revolutions.... Hope it gives some positive results.
You really worked hard to keep it simple and short 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Yess...
To make sure if you tune it right is to run your motorcycle 15-30 minutes after tuning then let the engine cool down then remove your sparkplug then check the tip IT SHOULD BE RUSTY BROWN if its black you are in Rich setting if there's no color your in lean.
👍🏻
Great Tips
Man u r doing great. Like this make simple lectures and continue. all the very best💗
A video still relevant. Will try to tune my 160 this weekend.
Best video award is for YOU!!😄
Thanks a ton for awarding this video with the best title 😊
Let me get my acceptance speech ready 😅
Nice clear explanation, hope you and your family are keeping safe and well in these difficult times.
Very informative and neatly done 👌👌👌👏👏 you're like the good teacher for bike enthusiasts 👍🏻
Good video... The use of less technical terms will actually help a lot of people. I used to search for videos when i had carburettor engine back then. Now FI, i dont have to worry. 😄😄 Just one thing while tuning dont we have to increase the idle screw and then adjust. I had seen mechanics do that way. 🤔🤔
Thanks Pratik 😊
Yes, you are right about the tuning method but here I have directly given the number of turns required so no need to increase the Idle RPM. In tuning practice the Idle RPM is increased to prevent the engine from stalling as the air fuel mixture is varied to the extremes where the engine might stall. Even I follow similar technique which includes a bit of trail and error to fine tune, no need for all that here as I am directly sharing the number of turns for reference 😊
The Sportztourer ok.. Got that... ✌️✌️✌️
@@thesportztourerwhat's the number of turns in idle screw can you please tell
The same my garage wala showed me. Perfect video @the sportztourer
simple, perfect and great delivery of video , thanks to you and your team once again on sharing such useful note.
I am glad to know you found the video so useful. Thanks a lot for the appreciation 😊
I like the way of your explaining
Soooooper and it's so helpfull video to me
Now this is the most simple way to illustrate the tuning of carburettor😎a good one...All the best
Glad to know you found it simple 😊
Ride safe 👍
Thanks for this video... now I get more excited taking by Apache 200 by morning...
Simple and easy to understand! Suggest a bike with minimal vibes at 120 kmph for longer rides.. Touring... Also fuel efficient one... Thanks.
@@PavanKumarHB Thanks 👍.. Looking for some more punch with less vibes.. suitable for touring like kanyakumari to kashmir....
Madhu Ramarajan sir, then fz higher version is perfect for you. feels like riding a car. no vibrations, no puncher tension.
it's my suggestion. don't take my words serious, go through expert review on bikes.
@@PavanKumarHB wtf dude
125/150cc can do 120/130 in 6th gear max rpm, he asked for a touring that can do 120 for a long time and also be fuel efficent surely a 125 cc at max rpm for a long time ain't that fuel efficent
RTR 200 4v or dominar 400
Bro U just make my desire come true.. 💙.. it's so perfect for me at 2 n half.. Better performance now , Hope will get much efficiency at Fuel
Awesome video just keep making... And do apache 200 4v 2.0 review with abs ur video's are the best better than many others
I do want to ride it but I don't have access to one! Being a small channel we don't get any review motorcycles. I will definitely make a video if I get to ride one 👍
I'm gonna buy 2.0 ABS today, and your videos will really help me. ABS is a boon to have, dual channel at that!
I, ve tht race edition 2.0 without abs
its runs rich at three turns. Maybe somewhere between 2.5-3 turns. Personally i run rich afr. Its smoother and feels more torquey.
behereen bhai...aesa laga jaise saamne bta ra h koi ...thanks a lot
Kaafi khushi hui jankar k aapko yeh video itna acha laga 😊
The Sportztourer ha brother ye art itne ache se koi ni batata...aur me bhot khush hu is perfect tunning se...love u bro
You have nice skill to explain things...i am always enjoying your videos
Thanks Saurabh, Happy to know riders like you enjoy the content on the channel 😊
Thank,s bro from you video the job is gone easy.
Bhai ...tabaahi ho aap😍😍😍🤩🤩
Very basic in tuning. The air screw setting shown, influences mainly the idle setting and CANNOT be considered to be very significant in overall optimum tuning. The air filter also plays a very important role in this equation, as a basic addition to what's needed, but there are many more parameters that need to be checked and corrected, in order to end up with a well tuned, fuel efficient, smooth engine.
Wich parameters to be specific

@@thesportztourer Hi, bro my initial factory tuning(RTR 200) of carburettor screw was slightly greater than 1.5 turn (anti-clockwise) from the totally closed screw position and with RPM idle at 1.1 Bar, I always fill Extra premium and get an average of 30kmpl. But you suggest to have a range between 2.5 - 3.0 turn (anticlockwise). How to increase the mileage as I always ride with an average RPM of 5-6k and avg speed of 70-80.
Apache rtr160 4v ka curboretar may to gire indicator nahi ata to miter may neutral ka option kha se aya.

Jokes apart...
Thanks for the video and helping that night 🤗
Ha ha ha... Thanks for appreciating 😊
How is your 200 doing? Present number of turns?
The Sportztourer Absolutely fine... and present turn is approx 2.45
I thought I am only one who screwed up with jet screw... 😂 😂
Travel with Arka me 2 screwed up with this carb tuning... Even I have switch to dual head sprkplg
TLD TECHNOLOGY EXPLAINED me too... 😂 😂
I have changed it to twin head sparkplug
I appreciate your idea. Still warming up an engine is not enough to set the carb. Minimum 7-10 min of ride is recomended and first the idling screw must be set high and then the air screw must be set. Your three turn of screw might be applicable to your area but as you have sugested it wont be applicable in other areas. I have done the tuning in other way around only using a cleaned or new spark plug. Other than this the tuning wont be necessary unless there is change of season.
Keep up your good work ,😁
You are correct sir.
Thanks Bhai ...I was waiting for this
Thanks Ansu, I hope the video was worth the wait 😊
The Sportztourer Bhai just one request plz make one video on how u have modified the back tail assembly in your Apache 200
Hi, I have done no modifications on the tail/rear assembly. Everything is stock 👍
Finally I can get my carb perfectly tuned by my self thx for the video !
Thanks Shivam 😊 All the best 👍
The video was good and nice but there was lack of few informations, as we have to increase the idle rpm before closing the mixture nut and turn the screw anti-clock till the rpm is high enough and stable
Nice video..it is helpful for me to keep my bike well maintained...thank you...
Happy to know that Harshal 😊
Brillient job!👍
Was it 2.75 turns for urs? Moved very fast 😋 . For me it's working best 2.25 turns.
Gixxer BS4
Probably gixxer bs4 variants come with factory setting at 2'25 turns..
It works the best for me as well
@@rrhmn_ factory setting is 2.5 turns out.

Really usefull bro and learning a lot from you
Really it was much needed video. Happy that you made one.
I had tuned my RTR160 carb with same technique. I opened 4 turns and after few month of use I m getting decent mileage (48kmpl) but less power on higher revs. Low end punch is still good.
Fantastic 👍
RTR 160 is a fun to ride motorcycle, 48kmpl is really good for it.
4 half turn or full turn ??
Does bike from showroom doesnt come with this type of tuning of better mileage or we have to adjust for better mileage...Awaiting your reply
Hi,
It does comes tuned but a little bit of fine tuning helps to make it efficient 😊
Finally an indian i can understand
Great video brother.. A very big fan of you... Nice presentation 👌
Pls say Suzuki max 100 carburettor adjustment screw
Good... I easily understand... Tq 4 the advice...

Once I told you to make a video on new Castrol 5 in 1 ultimate engine oil, please try to make it in details like pouring in engine, because I want to see the colour of the oil, then the performances, prices as per grades because there are 5 bottles with respective grades.
And another video I request you to make that is about cleaning, washing motorcycle at home with water in bucket without hose pipe and show some cleaning agents which available easily and budget friendly with good quality which doesn't harm motorcycle.
Thanks Dipankar for the suggestion.
I promise you will get to see these videos in the coming time 😊
Hi..
Actually my P220 got some issue with carburettor as I mistakenly open air fuel mixture instead of petrol drain screw..
Now I want to tune it.
After watching the video I'm little bit confused, cause you said engine need to be hot and the best time for tunning is morning...
🤔🤔
I just came across this video after 5 years of you uploading it and I regret not coming across it earlier. I was looking to get some info on how I could increase the performance of my almost 14 years old bone stock Karisma R which has been very tastefully maintained. I found your video so simple yet so informative! But still I had a question in my mind which I think you'd be able to answer well and I'll be glad if you do. So now after all these years of keeping my motorcycle in stock condition I want to do some upgrades to it. I was thinking about getting a performance cone air filter for better air flow and a performance carburettor to maintain the fuel to air intake ratio. But I do not want to get a full free flow exhaust setup. Do you think it is advisable to use a free flow air filter and a carburettor with the company exhaust ? will it affect my engine in a bad way ?
That small one not a fuel screw, it's an air screw, turn clockwise reduce air and make mixture rich, anti clockwise brings more air and turns mixture lean
Exactly what u said i am looking for .initially i also have doubt about this ,when i open my carb air screw ,thaught how this niddle like screw gona control fuel .it only adjust air ,& turning it clockwise ,ristrict air flow not fuel
Im using a twinspark plug with 2 turned open lets see what performance and mileage it gives
As always sir awesome video
Thanks Aditya for calling it awesome 😊
Please do it for ntorq I'm really facing an issue in my Ntorq please tell me how to get max performance and mileage together tune please?
dst mere 220f pulsar ki initial pickup kaam nhi kar rahii par pickup fz ki tarah motion mae chalti hai

The Sportztourer yeah in the privious videos 😀 but it's always good to know more about the machine we ride
Bro very nice work
Thanks a lot for valuing the work 😊
Is it work for my Mahendra scooty. What should be the choke position, Pl.share.
Another useful video..☺️ .. How many turns should do for RTR 180...?
Hi Dinesh,
My RTR 180 had similar setting around 3.5 turns. You can go 1/2 turn up or down from that point according to the response from your motorcycle.
The Sportztourer thank you and will try this setting...👍
@@sdineshkumar09 hows the setting
Better run richer at four turns. Maximum power and cooler engine. Running too lean at higher rpm may damage the engine and cost more then saved in fuel.
Very nice and informative bro.. Thank you
Thanks dear, your videos are really simple to understand. Appropriate focus of camera on parts while explaining . Minor details are mentioned while others ignore.
Thank you so much for appreciating the efforts. Support from enthusiasts like you motivates me to make more such videos 😊
Planning to buy Apache RTR 200,bs6 what's your opinion, will it las for 8-10 years??

Excellent, but what to be done if fuel screw tip is broken and stuck inside carb.
Hi Mantra,
That's bad take it to the service center for repair and screw replace. A good lathe shop can also help you with this kind of stuff.
Love your videos
Thanks a ton! It's a joy to know you love the videos 😊
1st time watching ur channel dude.... Awesome videos and quality 🤩👍
Very informative. Could you show us how to adjust idling in Yamaha fz fi 150? Not even many mechanics know how to adjust.
Hi Subhash,
FZ Fi is fuel injected where the fuel injection system has replaced the carburetor. The Fuel injection system automatically tunes itself as per the environment so manual tuning is not required 👍
The Sportztourer no actually we can tune it. Another mechanic who is good could do it. Once the idling was low and it was always turning the engine off. If you could show or explain how to adjust in fz fi it will be of great help
Yes, you are right only idling can be be adjusted 👍
You will find a similar idling screw on the FZ Fi to adjust the idling.
Nope we don't have such screw
It should be there, not the exact same one but similar type near the throttle valve. I personally have checked on the Thunderbird 500 Fi.
You have quality videos for newbies like me...thanks a lot man 🙌🏻
Wind snail should turn back a few rounds is suitable for 150cc engine sir
Sir, this method can apply for Suzuki Fiero also
Thanks for the videos..... i have a issue with my RTR 200 1.Back firing on acceleator release 2. Hard start in the morning i hv to choke it. 3. Hesitation when picking and speed @ around 95km/hr
Help me out what could be the issue.
Great bro, Thanks for this video.
Ur video r too good.
Please make video on changing to free flow air filter.. Is there any need of changing port
Hey bro please give me a solution for honda shine sp 125cc. How many turn (Anti clock wise) would be better for best mileage??
Bro I am facing a problem in my Apache 180 that, 1st my rpm is fluctuating and at cold start the rpm has to increase by 2 turns and after the engine warms up it again shows high rpm and it is rising automatically.. I have installed a new carburetor recently but it shows the same problem.. and at higher speed if I realise the throttle and pull the clutch completely then engine automatically off .. what to do bro please help🙏
I know its an art that is why how much ever i want I get scared ill ruin something.
How much mileage are you getting in the city??
Dada my bike has been serviced from the SVC since day one, I have done more than 27,000 kms on my RTR 200, the idling temperature is erratic. At 24k when they changes air filter spark plug etc I told them to tune it. It was fine, just needed a bit of warning up for a couple of minutes and was good to go. At 27k service I told them to tune it because cold start issue, reason being I had a 180 before which used to start in 1 touch without choke even when cold. Now my 200 starts fine but after running for more than 30 minutes it starts to drop the idling, and it becomes erratic. What could be the issue? Too rich? Also what is the warmup procedure you follow?
Hi,
Have you cleaned carburetor recently?
Totally agree on the 180 part 👍 my RTR 180 use to start at the first kick even after doing 50+k km!
Just use the carb cleaner spray or open and clean? Also please tell me the warmup procedure you follow
Open and cleaning.
Warming up:
I usually start the bike in the morning (I don't use my motorcycle daily) and keep it on idle for a minute or two & I utilise that time for gearing up. Be smooth & gentle with the throttle for initial few Km and you are done with the warming up 👍
Nice sir perffect setting👌👍👍👍
Thanks for this video. I adjusted my AF mixture based on information you provided in this video. But i can extract maximum 26kmpl in city. My beast is about 2.5 yrs old and recently i've replaced cylinder block kit along with new valve set. What may be the issue for low milege?
Wrongly clearance in tappits results in drastic drop in mileage.
Yamaha szrr 30 mileage de rahe hai mileage kaise set kare please patha dijhe thanks
Good explained video bro.thnx
I am unable to reduce idling for interceptor. It heats up quickly because of that. Please make a video on fuel injected bikes and how to reduce idling in twin engine.
A good one buddy ! But in other videos they were doing it with engine on and highly depending on the engine sound . DK tell me can I do it with engine on ? Which one is better ?
As I said in this video tuning a carburetor is an art which you can acquired by practicing. Over time you can tell a badly tuned engine just by it's strokes (running sound). You will find a lot of detailed video on TH-cam where people have explained carburetor tuning but a new rider will take time to fine tune this skill. So I thought of making this video where I can at least give a ball point zone where further fine tuning can be done by riding and understanding the engine performance 😊
Thanks for the appreciation.
Okay. I haven't seen on fZ. It's really different. Just check when you get a chance
Will definitely check it on the FZ fi 👍
I have Apache 160 4v bs4 .... Is it same for 160 4v too??
air fuel mixture screw's head has been worn out and not able to rotate it please suggest what should i do??
Perfect.... setting
Great job bro really such an informative and technical video , but what about 100 cc bike ,its has also 3 air mixture turns ???
Does opening engine head and changing guide valves decreases mileage?
you do this to both carburetor on your motorcycle?
Nice video bhai...
