    This is a great start for beginners. I'd like to add a few things that DO MATTER! 1.) Air temperature change makes a huge difference it runs great in cold air and crappy when it's hot this is why! Cold air is denser and uses a richer mix. If you ride more in the hotter weather then you should lean out the air/fuel mix. REMEMBER

    • @OnlyLifts.
      @OnlyLifts. ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doesnt leaning out the mixture raises the temps in a hotter wather? Pre bugs are usually aircooled

      Bro hot air means adding more fuel for it to burn right cold air is opposite

      You can fit more cold air into a space than hot air, so pack a shit ton of cold air heat it in the cylinder and let that shit expand@@Mon3y_Counter.

      Thanks for posting this. On my first two-stroke scooter tune, I’ve seen them to be true. In warmer weather, a 125 or 130 is working compared to a 135 or 140 in colder weather.

Took them apart cleaned them and now putting them back together with all new o-rings, cleaned all the jets not replacing any off them. Changed one float valve on the rear carb but left the front alone. Will deffinetly be using your knowledge given to adjust them when I get them back on the bike.

    I wish you would have went over how to fine tune the air screw. Thats the part that gets me. Something like turn throttle screw so idle is low, start with airscrew 1-1 1/2 turns out then turn 1/4 at a time; flick throttle to settle idle and do so until the rpms change, you do that on both sides (rich & lean) of the air screw until the engine rolls with out a stumbling. Is that for just dirt bikes?
    Thank you for taking the time to make the video excellent information very informative. My favorite part is how you included the air screw most videos focus on the fuel screw.

    • @ol-man-duffyj688
      @ol-man-duffyj688 ปีที่แล้ว

      First takes some starter fluid and lightly spray it around all the carb boots near the engine and carb (not the air filter). If it raises in throttle with choke off you got a leaky boot or cracked area on the housing. If no reaction then remember the choke cuts off air so it’s saying your idle circuit is too rich (go down a size in your idle jet). Then use the idle mixture screw and pay attention to this guy on which side of the carb your idle mixture screw is. Notice he says react with jets if it’s more than 3.5 turns out to stay running (with choke off of course

    TY for your videos,,,,So tell me if this is correct when it comes to tuning a gy6 carb, turn the mixture screw until you are at highest idle, THEN adjust the throttle screw. When the mixture screw is turned in all the way in it should kill the engine, if it does not then you need a smaller pilot jet. Likewise, if you turn the mixture screw all the way out and you cant get highest idle the you need bigger pilot jet

  • @Kirmo13
    @Kirmo13 ปีที่แล้ว

    This might be a dumb question but don't you risk blowing out your engine if you leave the throttle at max?
    I might be talking out of my ass but on engines with carburetors there isn't a rev limiter since the carb itself is supposed to limit the revs. However, if your carb isn't tuned, the engine could spin faster than what it can support... and then bad things happens
    Am I completely off, or does this make sort of sense?

    There is this liquid level tool, 4 levels.
    Instead of using on 4 stroke 4 cylinders, use on 2 stroke single cylinder, OHP, OHC, SOHC not-DOHC.
    The idea is - 4x feed to 4x exhaust through single cylinder with 2 valves, one for intake and one for exhaust. Number 1,2,4 sequence, starting from 2 to 3 to 4, to build levels-graph for 1. The psychology is to treat each line as rotating fluid, 1,2 3, 4 rotates to 2,3, then 1 and return-cycle to 4. Starting with lines, tune them assemble as 1 line amd 1 exhaust to test.

    • @engchoontan8483
      @engchoontan8483 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The serious hobbyists will have to guide and write and share with the other hobbyists. Not all will understand. 4 lines 4 levels. Minus one on max, volume flow in-total. Float ball in plus 2 cylinder 2x2=4, cube 1 is stupid-volume, 2 to 4 to 1 is cube-volume 4.

    REMEMBER THIS!!
    It's ALWAYS safer to run just a little bit rich than too lean! Too lean (white spark plug) increases the heat and cause engine damage

    • @glenngray6895
      @glenngray6895 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also 93 octane fuel might be too much! It burns slower than lower octane fuel. Higher compression = higher octane fuel.

      Don't tweek the carb adjustment before you are done with break-in and cut back the oil mix I use 8oz oil for first 2 gallons (break in) 5oz per gallon after the break in.

    Hi, i have a weird rasping sound coming from variator, i think. Whenever i take off/the clutch grabs the sound starts(i have pretty stiff clutch springs on) and you can hear it all the time after the take-off but its loudest when the scooter takes off. Do you guys have any idea where is the noise coming because it has been doing that for over a month or so and its pretty annoying. Its a yamaha bws/zuma with a 70cc athena racing kit, 21pwk, stage6 variator and polini 3g clutch with stage6 wingbell clutchbell and aerox transmission.

    Understood this is just a simple explanation but high level tuning goes a long way. I've seen too many self "tuned" carbs that were far from being optimum. Usually too rich or lean because the owner couldn't find a sweet spot.

    Hello, i just bought myself gpx gentleman 200 and it has a weird carb, it looks like some of triumphs but its not and I'm trying to set it up because right now i have a problematic idle(runs but uneven).
    the thing is- the carb has only 2 screws to regulate and also it has a diaphragm, first screw is on cord pulley which opens and closes throttle and the second screw is under engine side of carb, is it afr screw or not?
