lol. ling can transform sting people into any DNA it has absorbed. So turn someone into someone else for example. Here they absorbed a Glass Golem DNA to turn people into Glass Golrn then kill them with brute damage strikes. brute does extra damage against Glass Golem and they break apart into glass shards upon death, so no reviving. 3 or 4 hits and it's game over for anyone transformed
The changeling armblade deals 30 damage. Glass golems take x3 the normal amount of brute damage from attacks. It takes a 100 damage to put someone into critical condition, and 200 to kill them. Additionally glass golems shatter on death, preventing them from being revived by other players. So by using one of the other changeling abilities to transform someone into a glass golem you can take them from full health to critical condition in two hits, and then permanently kill them with two more. Functionally this means you only need to land like two hits on someone to win, as getting knocked into crit is basically a death sentence at that point. (Golems in general also can't wear clothes outside of headgear and - I think - backpacks. Not nearly as threatening as the first thing of course, but it's one more thing to disorient and inconvenience someone even if they somehow manage to survive the encounter.)
fuckin hell, permakilling has never been so easy and accessible. 2 clicks was all it takes. Did you kill the original golem or did he at least get to play the game a bit?
clever use of bugs and un-intended mechanics. Golems have no dna, and you stung guy inside hardsuit, huh. Glad too see this fixed on server i play, but very funny to watch.
There's a few comments here saying "wah why do they nerf fun?" Tell me, would you want to be on the receiving end of this? Killed with absolutely zero chance of revival? Being pretty much ended in three clicks; one for turning you into a golem, and two to crit you - arguably LESS reaction time available than getting hit by a stun baton? Being rendered unable to shoot a gun to stop the threat because you're a golem? If something is more bullcrap than stun combat, you bet people are going to justifiably remove it. Sure you can argue that you can round remove with bombs just as well and quite effectively, but bombs take time to set up, and you can only do it once per bomb. Here, all they did was get a golem friend and an armblade, which is considerably far less effort. You can also argue that nobody is going to use this often. No. Once something is demonstrated to be extremely effective, it can easily become a meta. This is absurdly OP and it's a very good thing this bug was fixed.
Unless you are extremely lucky with Lavaland golems, this will take 30-50 minutes to get a shell via xenobio. Transform sting 50 chemicals(+20 for armblade), makes you use everything you have for one kill and regenerate it for next 10 minutes. In total per 1 hour round you can kill 4-5 people with it. So you can compare it with bomb setup and one-time-use. People just less salty about bombs cos it's less personal. It was effective gimmick, but not that strong as people see it in edited video.
@@LivrahYT I've generally been able to get tier 5 slimes within 30-40 minutes most of the time as a xenobiologist, but that's because I've mained xenobiology and I've learned of ways to optimize my xenobio runs a lot. While I haven't been on tgcode in a while, the server I played on is not that much different from tgstation's xenobio (although they still have things like self-recharge cells.) Otherwise, you could speed up the chemical production as a ling by chugging changeling sting for example - something you probably could've done easily even, since you started as a bartender in the instance of this video. You can also attempt for xenobio crossbreeds like the regenerative extracts to back you up as well, though I'd argue the luminescent bluespace ability is also pretty effective as I saw in the video. Lastly - if the issue was in the bug that you were able to extract DNA from DNA-less beings, you could arguably just make someone a plasmaman and it'd likely be just as awful. Probably wouldn't need to armblade them afterwards - just run away or teleport. I guess in terms of xenobiology absurdities you can do otherwise, there's still always the classic "advanced mutation toxin grenade + later water grenade" trick you could pull if you want to be a jerk, and glassing someone isn't that much different otherwise in terms of balance.
