    Nice test, Tools. Like I said, I love Aguila ammo. I use it in several different calibers and it always performs. Aguila is a Mexican company that started in an older Remington Ammo factory, and they are adding a US factory in Texas. Take care, brother.

    This is easily the best performing 22 ammo in my LCP II. CCI had all sorts of light primer strikes and FTF. Aguila was perfect feeding and zero light primer strikes. Blame the LCP on the light primer strikes if you want (I get it) but in the end the Aguila was spot on and super reliable in a picky little pocket pistol and CCI, Federal, etc. all struggled.

    Nice test, as always. That Super Extra has been a solidly reliable ammo in my experience. Not a single failure to fire or eject in probably 2,500 rounds. I do wish it were more accurate out-of-the-box, but for "economy" rimfire, it's fine. (If I take the time to modify the bullets, it will group with a lot spendier ammo, so I buy it whenever it's on sale.)

    This is good stuff. I rolled the dice and bought 30k rounds before prices started going up due to covid. CCI was always my go-to before that, but this stuff is just as good, and the price was better. Made in Mexico, but made well. It functions and groups well in my Buckmarks, 10/22, and CMMG dedicated .22lr AR upper. Thanks for the test!

    Back before the plandemic, I was buying this Aguila load 5000 rounds at a time. I've run probably 30K to 40K rounds of this over the last 6 or 7 years. Always pretty consistent, and I have noticed it seems to group slightly lower on the target than Remington Thunderbolts, out of two of my rifles. About 1/4" to 1/2" lower at 25 yards. I just picked up a little more of this Aguila load the other day. Good stuff. Thanks for the test.

    ive shot it before, worked quite well. but in the grand scheme of things, at least all the ammo ive shot both expensive and cheap the difference in performance was almost non existant. thats the cool thing about a 22 rifle, youre gonna have fun no matter the brand of ammo. there is one strange caveat. most of us would agree that cci mini mags is pretty close to being the king of 22lr rounds but oddly thats what ive been having the most misfires out of lately

    I bought these in 38gr Hollow Point and just had them at the range with my TX22. Definitely a higher pitch crisper sound (higher velocity) than the 40gr Federal blue box bulk ammo I finished off. It did have a lot of brown smoke/powder flying around, though. But when I cleaned it later that eve, the barrel had almost no lead particles in it. Pretty clean. Simple patch cleaning and done. So pretty impressed so far. I think it was pretty accurate as well.

    Aguila has really impressed me In 9mm as well. I used to be able to buy it for .13 to .15 cpr at Gander when they still sold ammo. I bought several thousands of rounds of it. It was always reliable and very clean burning. I wish I knew what powder they were using. It always had a different smell to it. But again it was consistent, reliable and clean. That’s pretty much been my experience with the 22lr. I would gladly trade some of my other brands for it. For sure that Winchester stuff.

    I buy this ammo regularly both hollow point and round nose and love it. Accuracy is great as is consistency between rounds. I've shot a few thousand rounds of it in a bunch of different firearms. It runs well in a Rossi R22 (Mossberg 702 Plinskter variant) as well as several pistol revolvers. The ONLY firearm these ust won't work well in is the GSG 1911 by ATI, the primer gets a decent strike but I get a lot of failure to fire with this brand only, I think they have a slightly odd thickness to the shell casing so the tolerance is slightly out of bounds with the ammo.
    Not to make this reply too long but I occasionally have issue in revolvers with bulging at the base of the shell casing causing it to stick out of chamber after being fired stopping the cyclinder from rotating. Does it in all three Heritage Rough Riders I own. BUT that being said you cannot beat the price at all for the performance ....

I understand that bulk allows the ammo to shift around in shipping and makes for loose bullets and so forth but the Aguila looks like it was better made Before it was unceremoniously dumped in a large box and was shipped 2-3 times to get to my door. This Aguila - short A -gee - La short a, this 22LR ammo is the best I've found to run reliably in my Walther ppq22 LR 5-in semi-auto pistol. The bulk boxes have a waxy coating on them the individual 50 packs do not and run a little cleaner. I need 40 grain jacketed minimum 1255 ft per second to run reliably in this gun. This Aquila 22LR 40 grain 1255 super extra is the most bang for the buck that I found for this particular gun. Best price I have found during these times is just over 6 cents per round from Midway USA on sale with free shipping special. Thank you for your informative videos

    Good solid B+ ammo (pre-grade inflation). Happy to buy it at a good price. I prefer CCI, but if you’ve got a .22 that has somewhat lighter firing pin strikes the Super Extra is a great alternative.
    I believe the Aguila’s smell is characteristic of all “Eley Primed” rimfire ammo. It’s a form of advertising lol; I smell that at the range and think “someone brought Aguila”

    It is really great ammo, maybe it's the new mini-mag.? I/we enjoyed your test sir.... especially using a pistol for the entire test.!
    I think they use Eley priming in the cartridge. Both standard & hi0vel. I have several bricks put away.

    • @ToolsandTargets
      @ToolsandTargets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have heard the same about the Eley priming compound. From what I've heard, that's where the odd smell comes from.👍

    Pretty consistent stuff, and the good thing is I almost always see some on the shelves. What do you think of a keltec sub 2000? They interested me in the past but I never got one, and just recently I seen one for a song and a dance with some m- carbo upgrades, could be fun. Have a good one brother I will see you on the next one.

    Viva A-gee-lah!. 😁 Thanks for testing this. I just got a P17 and am investigating ammo. It looks like this would be a good practice ammo companion to the Aguila Interceptor. It also seems like if you needed to use it for defense it would not be the worst choice.

    I have the worst luck w/Aguila out of my Rough Rider. I typically buy in bulk and its either the Aguila or Remington Thunderbolt and Remington is far more reliable through my Rough Rider, and since I do most of my plinking w/my Rough Rider (100-150 rounds per range visit)......it's a big deal. With Remington I might get 1 dud per 100, with the Aguila its at least a half dozen that don't fire and about a dozen take more than one strike to fire. Granted it's a Heritage Rough Rider, but it feels like paying the extra penny per round for the Thunderbolt is worth it. I've had zero issues out of my rifle.

    • @ToolsandTargets
      @ToolsandTargets  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. I would definitely go with the Thunderbolt with that big of a difference. I've never really had much issue with Thunderbolt out of anything in the past.

    There you go. My favorite 22lr round. We used to go through a thousand rounds in one day at the range. We reduced to 500 because they got more expensive. How much they cost in your neck of the woods? I miss the days when I paid $22 for a 500 round brick.

    I got a thousand rounds of this, I get a few misfires. It doesn't always eject from the Kel Tec P-17, but it works great in the P322. Seems to be accurate.
