Went to my range yesterday with the same ammo. My Vudoo 360 did exactly what yours did. didn't like it at all. Grouped almost identical to yours. Next up was my Anschutz 1710 competition heavy barrel. Almost the same results. I also brought my Anschutz 54.30 Benchrest gun with a Kelby stock. That rifle really liked it. 1/4" group at 50 and right around a half inch at 100. Have a match tomorrow, rain permitting, where we shoot 200 yards. I plan on giving that ammo a try.

This is really interesting. First - thanks for the Education about the bullet type in the lot number. Years back you used to be able to look up details about your specific lot number online but unfortunately they stopped doing that (or I can't find where it's at any more). I picked up 2 bricks of that Eley Club just last week because they were only 6 dollars a box on clearance at Canadian Tire. The groups were almost identical to yours in the CZ455 factory barrel. Curious to see if they shoot better on that Bartlein I'm having spun up but at that low price I couldn't resist. Think you just saved me a lot of money after a frustrating wait time for these.. thanks for the review.
At $18 a box I would not be a happy camper with the performance of that ammo and out of the quality firearms that there is no question that can stack them on top of each other.

Thanks for the info. I always learn something when watching your videos. I had no idea about the lot number meanings until you explained some things in this video. Though I don't really have a true target rifle my little 10-22 build really enjoys the Eley Match So I'll stick with that for my little fun challenges that I like to shoot. Thanks.
Shooting up to 300m here in Germany on .22lr I mainly use SK Longrange Match. Best Bang for the Buck. I have tested RWS R Match Longrange, highest priced cartridge and in my Savage MK II not really accurate for the price it runs for. Midrange priced .22 LR cartridge is the Lapua Longrange and Extra Longrange. The Extra LR was more accurate. Eley Ultra Longe Range run for about € 22,- here in Europe, so close to the RWS mentioned above runningn at € 27,- per box. Looking at the fairly pour grouping on the first rifle you shot, I don´t the advantage of the Eley.
Have not tried this but have tried over a dozen 22LR rounds thru my CZ 452 and it is choosy when it come to 100yd tight groups-less than that most shoot well. The iron is that CCI standard velocity shoots nearly as well as Eley does in this rifle…saves me a bundle.
I built a mostly kidd 10/22 this year and shoot silhouette. I have done a lot of customizing to the gun with the stock and sights by making my own parts to fit the build. Local stores don't have much to choose from but I tried a variety of ammo and found CCI SV gave the best groups and was most consistent, although I didn't have any eley or other high end ammo to try. 3/8" at 50 yards and 3/4" at 100 meters was my best with a 20x scope, from the ultra light kidd barrel. CCI SV has gotten me 2nd and 3rd place for a number of matches against all other types of 22 guns and even eley ammo, at the local match, so it seems like it is working fine, especially for the price at 5 bucks per box.
Good review Josh I'm glad you tried this ammo saves me wasting my money. It should be called Eley Ultra Crap. Cci standard velocity would probably shoot better.
I wonder what it's going to take to get CCI, Federal or Hornady any American manufacturer to get in this game? I have a few boxes of Federal Premium Gold Medal Ultra Match somewhere in my ammo stash I might try it one day in my RimX. I don't think I ever shot any in my Anschutz or 513 either and haven't seen it anywhere for a while. I built a barrel tuner one time for a Savage rifle and tested it and some other match ammo but only at 25 yards. If I remember Wolf had a decent match round I guess that's over with too.
Even though very hard to find, my experience is that Lapua from LR, Midas +, up to Xact, to just buy without going to a facility and lot testing, is Always way more consistent than Eley match and Tenex. I’ve never had a “bad” batch of Lapua. Eley, well if it’s not Lot tested you’re likely to be very disappointed.
Looks like I’m not alone - this stuff shot like crap for me too - just like club. My ES was 45 and average velocity was 1140 - 1150 on a 76F day with 47% humidity and winds 6-11mph From 50-100 it was about MOA but was 1.3 - 2.5 MOA at 200 I had the same issues with the flyers Super pissed for this price point and disappointed I bought 5 boxes - glad I didn’t do a full brick
Good honest review again. Ah well, just not the ammo for those 2 rifles. I have a little 13.5" barrel Anschutz shooting 10mm groups @50m with Eley subs & cci velocitors . Out at 100 still sub moa. Just goes to show barrels are fussy buggers and a $1,000 barrel won't neccessarily be any better than a $200 one .
I shoot 25 and 50 yd benchrest in the UK but I couldn't do with ammo like that, I use RWS R50 and for me it works brilliantly. We have rim gauged many types of ammo and R50 have least variations, Eley match the next, but some of the cheaper stuff can vary from .95 mm to 1.5 mm.
Just seen a post on the Bergara BMR Micro Rimfire group on Facebook saying that Eley are recalling this batch...can't see confirmation of it anywhere though.
Just commenting.. I heard one fouling shot per inch. If doing precision work...grouping...make poi different to poa ..so poa doesn't get damaged.. removed..shot out etc. Having chronograph always running...and shown on screen, I would like to see.. Like your videos. Keep up the good work. Thanks.

Interesting, Josh. i was thinking it would do a bit better!?! my 457 shoots eley club better than that at 50 yards...or atleast as good! i have pretty much given up on Eley. for half the cost i can buy SK and have it shoot much better...
I had just got a brick of SK Rifle Match thinking it was going to solve all of lifes little problems, and nope, not so much!😅 I've got one more rifle to test with, so who knows? Not always about the extra $$$😅
Thanks for mentioning Killough Shooting Sports. I'll check them out when I need to buy more Eley ammo. Does anyone have recommendations where to buy other brands such as Lapua, RWS, SK, and Wolf?
Good Sir, I have observed this before........ IF....all else are consistent: Bullet weight & shape, powder charge, uniform rim priming........ then what I found was the bottom / base of the bass was not uniformly square to the center line of the bullet. That is, the base should not be rounded in any way, but consistently flat for each batch. The shape of the base of all brass must be identically flat and perpendicular to the center axis of the bullet. If not, this variance alone can produce a difference in the internal combustion of the powder, producing an uneven thrust behind the bullet. When I discovered this, I found a gauge that precisely measured the flatness of .22LR brass. I would sort my unfired .22LR brass into ones that had the same degree of bass squareness. The gauge would had a scale from 0 to about 8. When sorted, you put all the 3's into one box, all the 6's into another and so forth. Using inexpensive standard velocity ammo in my match Anschutz, shooting the same number sorted 22's performed the same as the best match ammo at the time. More than anything, this is a indication of quality control not checking for the uniformity of brass base, and keeping it within specs. Just thought I would pass this idea along to you accuracy Pro's. Thanks for the great vid! FMR Intelligence Officer
@@duanemoder4127 Good Sir, I sold mine when I sold my Anschutz Super Match. HOWEVER, I see there is a 22 LR shooter using one here at the following website. th-cam.com/video/T1dh5fs31iI/w-d-xo.html Kind Regards, FMR Intelligence Officer
it seems that failure was either in the engineering and manufacturing seems like it was designed in a computer and rushed to market without testing Eley failed
Wether your shooting PCP air rifles , center fire or rim fire it’s a crapshoot as to what works and what doesn’t ! Sadly a lot of good ammo lots may not be available in the future . Plus people buy so much of it for competition , those who buy small amounts for casual shooting or hunting can’t even find them in stock anywhere !
Try only to see your results the cheap Federal Bulk Pack 36grains it works great on my CZ 457 varmint. For only $53 you can get a 525 rounds box I can get better results at 50mts.
Most guys think it's waste of time lol. I know guys that sort rim an weight on center x. I shoot ARA with tac22 3.80$ a box avg 2375 lol. I sort weight an rim. Works great in bergara.
So how do you determine what caused the weight change? Bullet? Primer? Powder? Case? The only thing you can determine is if there is an uncharged round.
I sent Eley a mail because I was looking for the Ultra long range ammo and could not get it. They replied and said: 'I am afraid to say at the moment we have had a QC issue with Ultra Long Range so therefore have temporary halted supply on this product.' The lot you got maybe has some quality issues.
I can't remember who but I watched another vid on this ammo and it was no better I don't know why Eley would put this out especially at that kind of price
I'm not sure what all they changed. The bullet seems to be the same. The bullets do seem to be in better shape in the ultra though, like qc is tighter on them. But yeah, doesn't exactly impress at this point
If you had an electronic marker...you could see if cold bore..fouling..actually made a difference...ie..include them in your results...or mark as separate..but enable comparison... Hope this idea is helpful. Ie all the data is relevance.
@@misterlewgee8874 Ah, ok. I see what you’re talking about now. The problem is the ShotMarker system works by listening for the supersonic crack of the bullet, and triangulates shot position from that. It won’t work with subsonic ammo, as most 22 LR ammo is. No supersonic crack, no shot detection. And the electronic targets that are available that do work with subsonic 22 LR ammo are in the neighbourhood of $20,000. Those work via optical detection. But given their pricing, basically nobody has them. Even the older type that works by detecting the sound of the bullets hitting a backer aren’t cheap. Cheaper than $20,000 but still not cheap. And I’m not sure if that backer type has software that would be comparable in providing displays like that. Maybe. I don’t really know. I didn’t look into those ones as much because I didn’t like the idea of having to constantly buy the moving backers. The ShotMarker is very reasonably priced, but unfortunately won’t work for 22 LR target shooting with typical target ammo. Shooting with Stingers would work out to, what, 75 yards or something? 125? I forget exactly where that stuff goes subsonic. But it isn’t target ammo and shoots like crap, hehe.
@@misterlewgee8874 Oh, I forgot to mention. The expensive optical type is what Lapua and Eley have in their tunnels at their test centres. They’re made by a company called Meyton.
I dont like the way that Vudu bolt hangs up. You are always smooth in your cycling but for what you pay for a gun like that I would expect it to be butter smooth.
I have my chambers done up shorter so the bullet engages the rifling. The bolt is ultra slick it's just needing a nudge at the very end with those round nose to allow it to close. It's just a side effect of chambering it that way but tends to be more accurate for me with my regular ammo
Bought 4 boxes of the Eley ULR from Killough. The Eley Contact performed better at 50 and 100 thru my CZ 457. At 200, the ULR was very disappointing. Won’t buy again unless Eley makes changes to the round. Sticking with Eley Team and Eley SABR

@@CGT80 My groups at 50 yd identical to yours.I was shooting 1" or a little less at 100. CCI-SV 40 Gr. confirming.
Good review Josh I'm glad you tried this ammo saves me wasting my money. It should be called Eley Ultra Crap. Cci standard velocity would probably shoot better.
I'm glad that was bought with your money and not mine
My ES was 45 and average velocity was 1140 - 1150 on a 76F day with 47% humidity and winds 6-11mph
From 50-100 it was about MOA but was 1.3 - 2.5 MOA at 200
I had the same issues with the flyers
Super pissed for this price point and disappointed I bought 5 boxes - glad I didn’t do a full brick
Thanks for saving me some money. I’m not going to bother testing this stuff.
The usa lot has been pretty much terrible for everyone. So bad they recalled the whole lot lol
alqays enjoy watching your videos when reordering do you try to stay with speed over machine with eley?
@@ovenman991 I use to but didn't find any real luck doing that
I shoot 25 and 50 yd benchrest in the UK but I couldn't do with ammo like that, I use RWS R50 and for me it works brilliantly. We have rim gauged many types of ammo and R50 have least variations, Eley match the next, but some of the cheaper stuff can vary from .95 mm to 1.5 mm.
@@kindwarf r50 is very good ammo. I only prefer match because the bullet color
Just seen a post on the Bergara BMR Micro Rimfire group on Facebook saying that Eley are recalling this batch...can't see confirmation of it anywhere though.
Thanks for your Honest vids mate
Just commenting..
I heard one fouling shot per inch.
If doing precision work...grouping...make poi different to poa ..so poa doesn't get damaged.. removed..shot out etc.
Having chronograph always running...and shown on screen, I would like to see..
Like your videos.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks.
Josh,
I just saw an announcement for recalls on the Eley Ultra matching your lot numbers. Check with them.
Yeah saw the same. I don't have enough to bother sending it back
@@PursuitofAccuracy understandable just thought I would reach out to you as I recently watched your video the other day. Really enjoy your content, definitely one of my favorite TH-cam channels!
Man I'm so glad I didn't buy any of this ammo. Thank you for testing it for us. Seems like eley may need to rethink this one.
Thanks for sharing this information.
What were they thinking releasing this stuff. Do they test at all. 🤯
🇮🇪🍀💪
To your point about bullet color it's curious its not silver colored when they do it for the semi auto benchrest precision.
Have you ever tested Aguila supper extra (high-velocity). I've used it for 50yrd bench rest and some 22 nlr matches with very good results.
I haven't shot that before. I tend to stay away from high velocity for my precision stuff
Interesting, Josh. i was thinking it would do a bit better!?! my 457 shoots eley club better than that at 50 yards...or atleast as good! i have pretty much given up on Eley. for half the cost i can buy SK and have it shoot much better...
Eley has recalled the batch of Ultra you have
@@DavidStoenner yeah saw that
I had just got a brick of SK Rifle Match thinking it was going to solve all of lifes little problems, and nope, not so much!😅 I've got one more rifle to test with, so who knows? Not always about the extra $$$😅
May as well buy cci sv, groups at least that well from my 457/ibi setup.
Man that is one beautiful rifle
You can have it.
I’ll let you.
Thanks for mentioning Killough Shooting Sports. I'll check them out when I need to buy more Eley ammo. Does anyone have recommendations where to buy other brands such as Lapua, RWS, SK, and Wolf?
Champions Choice in Laverne TN. I buy a lot ammo there.
Killough has a great selection of .22lr ammo. There's Eley..........and more Eley........and they even have Eley.
Is that gauge still available?
@@duanemoder4127 Good Sir, I sold mine when I sold my Anschutz Super Match. HOWEVER, I see there is a 22 LR shooter using one here at the following website. th-cam.com/video/T1dh5fs31iI/w-d-xo.html Kind Regards, FMR Intelligence Officer

Shot like a shotgun in my rimx. 55es over like 30 rounds.
That's so odd. I legitimately wonder what happened? Clearly something went "amiss" 😅 Seriously though. I wonder where it fell apart.
it seems that failure was either in the engineering and manufacturing
seems like it was designed in a computer and rushed to market without testing
Eley failed
I quit using eley anything about 3 years ago,.....so - more for the guys that like them
Well…you proved one thing for certain…watch your results before you spend a dime on any ammo…
@@skipsmith9692 Every gun is different.
I had the same results with this ammo. It's Ultra shitty in my match rifle. Wasted $380 on 2 bricks
Try only to see your results the cheap Federal Bulk Pack 36grains it works great on my CZ 457 varmint. For only $53 you can get a 525 rounds box I can get better results at 50mts.
A friend gave me a box of Eley Tenex for my birthday. Didn't shoot any better than Aguila SV in my Win 75...
Do you weight sort your ammo or do you shoot the ammo straight out of the box, as it comes from the factory? If you don't weight sort, why?
Most guys think it's waste of time lol. I know guys that sort rim an weight on center x. I shoot ARA with tac22 3.80$ a box avg 2375 lol. I sort weight an rim. Works great in bergara.
So how do you determine what caused the weight change? Bullet? Primer? Powder? Case? The only thing you can determine is if there is an uncharged round.
Have you ever tried Aria or Cutting Edge Brand Ammo?
It shoots like target ammo, it doesn't say match. I'll stick with CCI sv for target ammo!
I would pull some of those bullets and weigh the powder charges probably weigh the bullets while your at it ??
Please explain why Lapua don’t use a Scenar, SMK or ELDM type of bullet in their 22LR. These have a much higher BC but for some reason are not used?
Not sure but I'm sure there is a good reason
Do you think on a cold 40 degree day they wouldnt be going supersonic?
It will slow down for sure
I sent Eley a mail because I was looking for the Ultra long range ammo and could not get it.
They replied and said:
'I am afraid to say at the moment we have had a QC issue with Ultra Long Range so therefore have temporary halted supply on this product.'
The lot you got maybe has some quality issues.
It for sure had issues. Thanks for watching!
What are you going to do when you catch it? Accuracy that is.
No not so much. I’m gonna Stick with what works good for me
I can't remember who but I watched another vid on this ammo and it was no better I don't know why Eley would put this out especially at that kind of price
So they added some primer to eley club an reboxed it. Lol that's great.
@@misterlewgee8874 Electronic marker?
@@ClaytonMacleod like used in target shooting...sensors around a frame that send shot placement to a tablet
@@ClaytonMacleod thanks for schooling me!
@@misterlewgee8874 Oh, I forgot to mention. The expensive optical type is what Lapua and Eley have in their tunnels at their test centres. They’re made by a company called Meyton.
The reason price now they earn more difference only a little bit more powder fore the rest same as club
You should reach out to a couple of the other guys that tested it and see if they have the same lot #’s. If not maybe do some trading and retest.
