    Finally someone who actually answers the question instead of blabbering about how unhealthy it is.. This 20 pounds is more unhealthy for my mental than it is to my body.

    I walk 3 miles 1 hour in the morning, sometimes again in the evening I’m 63yo woman who only started walking 3 months ago and I could barely walk 1mile. I suggest including a ton of veggies at every meal along with the meats he said. Veggies have high volume, fiber and water to fill your stomach up for less calories. So you can stick to the very low calorie while feeling full and getting lots of micronutrients. Plus like I said the proteins. And drink about 96 ounces of water a day. Studies have shown that the 96 ounce mark is when it starts contributing to weight loss. Add a pinch of sea salt to your water for some electrolytes.

    This encouraged me so much. I have a wedding to attend in 27 days and I need to lose 15+ lbs to fit in my bridesmaid dress. I understand it’s not the ‘healthiest’ but this is crucial to me. I will be wearing a strapless dress, and my back is my biggest insecurity. I want to feel and be the most confident that day!

I have 100 pounds to lose and there is so much information out there and contradicts each other. And hearing someone say that it’s OK to not eat makes me feel like I’m not doing something wrong. I’m at a healthy weight and am pretty lean (according to my doctor and the charts and everything), but I prefer to be down lower, so my current goal is to lose maybe 15 or 20 more pounds! I’ve been doing something similar but not as extreme, like 1000-1200 a day plus lifting and doing some elliptical and exercising! Just the other day lowered my calorie limit even more to speed up the process! So this was really encouraging to hear that other people who have even more to lose than me are doing more extreme measures!

    Interesting concept. I think David Goggins lost 104 pounds in just 3 months which means he lost 2.4 stone every month. His diet was just one meal a day which included lean protein, veggies and handful of rice (about 750 cals). In the last 6 weeks I have lost 10 kg and I am happy but I could step it up just for the experiment

    I am doing an experiment.
    Articulate in your mind the goal and desire
    Exactly what you want.
    Then let go of any want and need of it.
    Let go of trying hard to make it happen..
    And start doing…
    Trying isn’t doing.
    In the past I’ve used this to get into shape and it didn’t feel as hard to do it. Less resistance and procrastination.
    It’s easier to find a girlfriend when you don’t need one.
    It’s easier to find a job when you don’t need and want one.
    It’s easier to lose weight when you don’t need or want to.

      MyFitnessPal is a good tool for tracking calories (and it’s free).
      I’m trying to cut myself by keeping the calories between 500 and 1000 per day.
      Yeah, some kind of meat on your plate (chicken, pork, steak, lamb, etc), some kind of carb (white rice or potatoes), and some kind of veggie (personally I like to snack on cucumbers - especially while going for a walk). A handful of nuts is also a good thing to snack on.
      If you can limit yourself to one big meal a day (maybe at suppertime) and small healthy snacks, you will start cutting.
      For the one big meal, I like to have a quarter of the plate be protein, a quarter carbs, and the rest veggies.
      I honestly like to start any diet with a 24 fast. It makes food taste better afterwards, and it decreases hunger the next day.
      Do some research but that’s what’s working for me for what it’s worth. Good luck!!

  • @Imkirstinalyse

    Would it be a bad idea to stay at 1000 calories for 6-8 months? I was looking at zig zag dieting (eating slightly higher calories some days around 1500). Mostly because I was worried about depleting my bodies nutrient storages, but I don’t know if 6-8 months of strict 1000 calories will cause as much depletion as I’m thinking. For reference, I’m 5’7 298 lbs, and I want to be 130, so around 168 lbs in total I am planning on loosing in the next 8 months. I am following the 100 lbs in 6 months video (I’m 3 weeks in and 16 pounds down so far!)

    • @trainerjoes
      @trainerjoes  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I think you would be fine to keep it at around 1,000 calories for that long. However I think your goal of 169 pounds in 8 months is a bit aggressive. It’s possible but I would not expect you to lose that much that quick. It is up to you but I would give myself about a year to lose that much.

  • @alexandraadams2070
    @alexandraadams2070 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I was going to ask, why couldn't you just not eat at all? I go several days with no solid food...I take liquid vitamins, use wheatgrass juice powder, collagen peptides, water, tea, electrolytes and I am able to exercise with more energy than I have when I eat!!! Seriously. I'm down 100.4 lbs right now and have about 80 more to go. Right now, I'm eating Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday only...fast the other 4 days and I love it!!! I'm 66 years old and female. The easiest thing I've ever done. Like you say though, it's definitely a mental thing because I want to eat while I'm fasting but I know it's only for pleasure, not true hunger at all. So I just have to dig in at those times and refuse the break and in a few minutes, I've forgotten about it. I've been obese for decades, Trainer Joe, and I admit I'm a little desperate to get this done so it's extreme but if it really works, and it seems to be, it is worth it. I'm already thinking about how to maintain once I get to my goal. I don't plan on ever eating 3 squares and snacks anymore. I enjoy your videos. The one thing I really like about IF is that it is customizable and I have made up my own plan which works for me.

      I lost 16 lbs in 10 days as a result of a fast to learn about hunger, fasting, and my body. I did not need to lose any weight so yes I purposely gained it back.

    I’m willing to do whatever it takes but I’m surrounded by people (dietitians mostly) who say that doing this will wreck your metabolism and will cause weight gain long term. Do you know about this? Will this happen if I go hard and eat 500-1000 cals per day?? I’m just scared of gaining even more weight in the future.

    • @trainerjoes
      @trainerjoes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Whoa! That is quick! You could definitely do it but it is quite fast. What would be your motivation to lose it that quick? 10 to 15 lbs per month is a bit more reasonable under normal circumstances.

    • @trainerjoes
      @trainerjoes  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for watching and commenting. The goal here is to lose 20 lbs in 1 month. If you have 100 pounds to lose I don’t think 20 in a month is unrealistic. If you only have 10 lbs to lose then losing 20 makes no sense even if you do it slowly. My point is that it depends on the situation as to how healthy it is.

      You almost always lose some muscle when you lose weight. One reason is you need less muscle when you aren’t carrying the excess weight. If that concerns you then do resistance training.
