This was such a fun video about something not fun--diets! I can only imagine how difficult it is for someone who weighs 600 pounds to suddenly start following this very restrictive diet.
The thing with seasonings- if you don’t read ingredients, the mixed seasonings tend to have sugar. I did whole30 & couldn’t believe what all sugar is added to.
Seasoning food is not a bad thing and won't cause weight gain. The concern is salt intake. Limit salt and use seasonings that are salt free, especially if you're already adding salt.
The no salt makes sense. If you weigh 600 lbs more than likely you got high blood pressure also salt can make you retain water and and they are already dealing with swollen body parts. So the no salt makes sense but there are alot of no salt seasoning mixes that taste great.
People that weight 100 to 200 pounds have high blood pressure. What's your point. I weigh more an don't have high blood pressure and my friend weighs less does.
The no salt is because your taste buds have basically become addicted to excessive amounts of salt and sugar from all the garbage that you eat. So doing no salt helps bring your taste buds back down to a more normal salt tolerance that is appropriate. There's plenty of other seasonings to use. You don't need salt all the time. It's a hard lesson to learn. I've done this type of diet myself for a while and it is a struggle to get your taste buds to be different. After a while you can do some salt to your foods as a light seasoning, but at first the point of no salt is to break that addictive flavor that you think you need all this salt to make food taste good. My husband is one of those that is addicted to the high amount of salt sugar and oil he feels is needed to make his food taste good. I can't cook healthy food and actually have him enjoy it because he feels that he needs all that extra garbage to make the food taste good.
I think the no salt, oil, carbs and sugar is because the patient’s are highly addicted to those kinds of foods. They also have a lot co-morbidities that those foods cause. , The cravings also have to be dealt with prior to surgery and it helps to reset the palate for after the surgery.
wish i had that problem! no one is really judging a skinny person these. I just know once i lose the weight, i will never allow myself gain weight horribly again. @@Mswhite10

Now, be real. Who among us cannot relate to eating peanut butter from the jar whilst standing in the pantry? It’s my very favorite self-ambush trigger and diet nemesis 🥜
I saw a nutritionist (that i spent a fortune to see) and she had me eating a similar diet for the first 21 days. Difference is i was encouraged to use seasoning. I ate eggs with spinach and onions for breakfast for months lol
You could do a series based on either commenting on the dr now show episodes and /or choosing recipes to do along with the show. I absolutely love your videos Trinity!
I’m definitely going to purchase this book for me and my daughter. This will be a life change for the better for us. She was medically diagnosed and she definitely has to change her diet. I’m going to do this with her. Thanks for this video!
On a low carb (or ketogenic) diet, you do need animal fats and salt. [No seed oils.] This is a anti-inflammatory diet. Carbs hold water, and you release water without all the carbs. Sodium allows the water to enter your cells. Stay well hydrated: salt and water is needed. Try a carnivor diet challange: See the Steak and Butter Gal on youtube, or Kelly Hogan.
I started a 1200 calorie diet about two months ago and I’ve lost 22 lbs so far. I am not as restrictive as Dr. Now is, but I do weigh my food and stick to proteins, vegetables and low carbs. It’s hard, but once I got used to it…..I didn’t miss the bad stuff so much. Thanks for doing this video…..the peanut butter sneak was so funny! I felt your satisfaction through the screen!
I managed to make zucchini noodles taste like Ramen noodles by adding seasoning and broth. I also only eat chickpea chocolate chip cookies that I make myself instead of traditional. 1200 calories is way too low. My personal trainer had me on 1400 calories when I was trying to reach my final goal (I had already lost 106 lbs in 9 months, but was stuck at 170 lbs and wanted to reach 160.) OMG I was waking up in the middle of the night with anxiety and was freezing cold all the time. I would have to make double decker sandwiches and scarf them down with a quart of milk at 3 am! it was way too low calorie wise, as I was working out with weights and doing bootcamp and spin too. I needed 3000 calories actually. Well I got to 160. that lasted a year. then menopause wrecked me. and covid. Now I am up 36 lbs and maintaining that, too tired to exercise anymore, just walking here and there and , well, I dont care anymore. I am perfectly healthy, and plump, and my husband is rather happy that I now have my boobs back Lol!

Peanut butter is not that bad. It’s good protein. If you eat carbs, have it with protein so it doesn’t spike sugar and your body is able to process the carbs better.
It's so sweet when you finally lose that unwanted weight. I lost 109 pounds (half the weight of a refrigerator) in less than 4 months and have kept it off since then. Just like every woman struggling with weight loss now, I yoyoed for years - staying on track for a month or 2, losing a few lbs in the process before falling off. And each time I fell off, I just gained the weight back plus more. In July 2021, I was at my heaviest - 255 lbs... See full story on my channel.
you'll gain it again plus more this time too, because as you saw from personal experience, diets don't work. You can't restrict forever. Once you stop restricting, you'll get back to your body's preferred weight.
It would be really challenging going from what and how you're use to eating something to straight bland recipes. 😵💫 Enjoy you so much Girl!!! Blessings to you and the family!!!♥️
Salads are SO GOOD. Especially with peppers and cucumbers. But it just takes so much energy to make them. It's a lot of work for real. Maybe because I'm making mine daily? I need to start just doing the weekend prep thing.
Salt is bad for morbidly obese people for a plethora of health reasons. I'm sure he eliminated the salt in the recipes intentionally. Bland food is a good idea for the morbidly obese for several reasons as well, such as 1)Preparing for the gastric surgery (wherein highly seasoned food can't be eaten) 2)To avoid stomach upset or possibly interactions with certain medication 3)Bland food is typically eaten more slowly 4)Teaching people to eat to live instead of loving a flavor profile and living to eat
Your face eating the stuffed cabbage thing was like me when I eat something I don’t like the texture of. The face that says it all-trying to choke down the food. I call it my sour face look.
I don't have an issue with this diet. As you realized, meal prep is going to be important to success. Portion out your veggies so you can literally toss them in a pan with your protein. I do so much better when I prep meals at the beginning of the week and have a plan.
Spices. Herbs. Garlic. Onion. Lemons. Keep the food scale and measuring scoops/spoons/cups on the counter by the cutting board. Like, just leave it out at all times, along with your food journal. Mushrooms. Soups. Air fryer.
You eating that peanut butter reminded me of that episode on The Cosby Show (showing my age 🫠😂) when Claire was on a diet to get into a dress for an event. She snuck in the kitchen one night to sneak and eat a spoonful of the taco meat that Cliff made for dinner earlier that night! She made that same face you did when you ate the peanut butter 😂😂!!!
I love the show as well and Dr now is very strict. I don't know how people can do it. It does take a lot of will power and they have to want it. But damn! My bariatric team is nowhere near strict. If your food doesn't taste good, you ain't gonna want it lol. We are allowed to use seasoning, butter, oil etc just be smart about it. Also, I was weighing my food in the beginning and then I got lazy and was like "oh, I can just eye ball it, I don't feel like getting the food scale out" nope, definitely gotta weigh to make sure you're not eating more than 4 ounces of food per meal. I gotta get back to that and man I need to get my water goals down and protein! Whoever said wls is the easy way out, you have no idea how wrong you are lol

I have not been able to find the reason for this, counterfeit, cheaper publisher, what? Anyway lots of mistakes and wondering about perhaps misinformation. My friend had an original of a book she wanted to send copies to others, her original was many years old. Her order came with the information I mention on the last page and when she compared the old book with her new order the information was not the same, stuff left out, measurements wrong, typos, etc. She returned them of course. If you are a hravy salt user, yes the food would be bland because your tongue is heavily dependent on salt. Once you cut out salt, you'll be able to fully taste the flavor of other seasonings. He says no salt because unless it's celtic salt, regular table salt cause ls your body to retain fluids and causes hypertension
I love this video. Maybe you could do a series of meal preps with similar but not as strict recipes for people who want to lose weight but arent necessarily 600lb...or maybe your ideas could even serve as real visible inspiration to even tjose who are at above or below that point...when people fail at that diet part of it is I think...inspiration, seeing it in real life, seeing that its doable and meal prep is key. Thanks for the lovely, honest video.😊

Hubby and I have been eating like this for the last year. Getting grains and sugar out of my life was the best thing I could have done for myself. However we do need some sodium and some healthy fats in our life. No sodium can lead to an electrolytes imbalance. Hubby and I weigh and measure everything. So have one or two Tablespoons of peanut butter.......just not half the jar. Hubby and I have lost weight, and all our bloodwork is normal now. This type of diet really does work. It's basically a clean keto diet.
Hello, I'm a huge fan of Doctor Now but some a little rough at times but i also know he cares deeply for his Patients!!!!!!!❤😊🙏 Thanks for sharing, i enjoyed your content. Ms. Ruby
We bought a little DASH egg cooker and it has really helped us. It can steam 6 boiled eggs in minutes or make a 2 egg omelet to which we snip in spinach and mushroom pieces and just a touch of Feta before we turn the machine on. When it's done we top with a T of picante sauce. By the way we had given the machine to my daughter to try and she loved it and kept it so we bought another one by a different brand. It went into the garbage pretty fast. Only a DASH egg cooker from now on. It also makes poached eggs. We eat a mini cucumber with that and a cutie orange and a half glass of milk. That's it every morning. It has done wonders for us and it was so easy. Good luck everyone.
The peanut butter is okay if you make it yourself with no sugar or oils. Peanuts have enough naturally occurring oils. One more tip is to not drink anything for a half hour before until ahalf hour after meals so it does not turn your food into a slurry which leaves your stomach faster. RNY 06/17/09. Total WL 202 Lbs and still maintaining.

I understand how when you are 600+ pounds, your life is in danger and have to lose that weight fast but I can't see how a 1200 calorie diet is sustainable, except, I guess, for post gastric surgery patients. I lost some 50 pound taking in between 1500-1800 calories a day. I drop it down to 1500 when I want to blast through a plateau, and that is pretty hard.
It sounds hard but we’re all so addicted to sugar that having meals without it seems impossible.
Mrs Dash
People that weight 100 to 200 pounds have high blood pressure. What's your point. I weigh more an don't have high blood pressure and my friend weighs less does.
@@Bionicbabyy I'm 5'6 213 pounds and don't have high pressure. I do deal with low sugar tho n get dizzy tho def depends on height and genetics
@@okaycola2 Amen. I added that to a soup I made and it was delicious.
I can't cook healthy food and actually have him enjoy it because he feels that he needs all that extra garbage to make the food taste good.
he be so strict because he knows 90% of the time his patients are NOT gonna follow his recipes exactly! AND THEY DONT!🤣🤣🤣🤣
They never do!😂😂
And he's said it before. Lol.
y
I believe so also ! They will eat more 😂😅
Weight loss is definitely a struggle it’s easy to pack on the weight but lose it is the hardest. A spoon of peanut butter isn’t bad at all.#teamjae
I think the no salt, oil, carbs and sugar is because the patient’s are highly addicted to those kinds of foods. They also have a lot co-morbidities that those foods cause. , The cravings also have to be dealt with prior to surgery and it helps to reset the palate for after the surgery.
Idk its hard for me to gain and I lose weight rapidly
wish i had that problem! no one is really judging a skinny person these. I just know once i lose the weight, i will never allow myself gain weight horribly again. @@Mswhite10
I love me some Dr Now!! His monotone scolding and calling u out is Everything! But....his pamphlet recipes sound extreme, lol! Love your Videos Trinity Jae!😘
Ooh girl you’re so good because I can do without oil and butter but SEASONINGS?! SALT?! I am seasoned. I am salty. 😂
😂😂😂 Same here!
😂😂😂
Am the salt of the earth 😅😅😅
You are kidney failure. You are high blood pressure.
I love this... I am seasoned. I am salty. Girl, I can relate.
Girl! Weight loss is a struggle and no joke.❤
Don’t I know it. People give more sympathy to addicts in rehab than they do people struggling with weight loss.
Type 1 diabetic here. Weighing your food REALLY keeps you on track because you can't fool yourself by sneaking in a little more of this and that.
Now, be real. Who among us cannot relate to eating peanut butter from the jar whilst standing in the pantry? It’s my very favorite self-ambush trigger and diet nemesis 🥜
I eat natural peanut butter. No salt, sugar, or emulsifiers. Much more peanut flavor and healthier.
Cannot relate. Peanut butter leaves my mouth dry and super thirsty 😂
All natural peanut butter is amazing with apples.
There is sugar free ketchup that tastes exactly the same
I saw a nutritionist (that i spent a fortune to see) and she had me eating a similar diet for the first 21 days. Difference is i was encouraged to use seasoning. I ate eggs with spinach and onions for breakfast for months lol
You could do a series based on either commenting on the dr now show episodes and /or choosing recipes to do along with the show. I absolutely love your videos Trinity!
That’s actually a good idea.
That's a AWESOME IDEA I watch Dr Now daily
Yes!!!
Congrats! It sounds like all your hard work is paying off. So exciting!
I managed to make zucchini noodles taste like Ramen noodles by adding seasoning and broth. I also only eat chickpea chocolate chip cookies that I make myself instead of traditional. I think its helpful when you can find healthier alternatives to foods that are bad. Im so glad you were able to make your diet work 😊
1200 calories is way too low.
@@torytellstales there are no bad foods, eat what you want, just eat a small amount!

I think that the thing with no salt is because it causes fluid retention and can contribute to weight gained instead of lost 😊
That and high blood pressure which they all have. That’s what obesity does to you.
Your expression when you tasted the peanut butter. I totally recognize that and understand the feeling. I am allergic to peanuts so it's been over 10 years since I had any. Then I finally broke down and paid the money for soy-nut butter. I am sure that my expression was just like yours when I ate that first spoonful.
You should try sun butter.
@@ngs5554 Thank you for the thoughtful suggestion. I am allergic to seeds as well as tree nuts, peanuts, and wheat.
Try Tabitha brown seasoning which is salt free however very tasty. That will wake up any meat or veggie
I have eaten all of these things. Having seasoning instead of salt is what I've been trying to do. It's not easy at all but it's also a lifestyle change and commitment 💯👍🏾😊
Salt is t the culprit for HTN and DM2. I'm shocked he doesn't use it. The excess carbs and sugar is what causes weight gain and the processed foods usually have too much sodium. But a quality salt has tons of research behind it. I don't get eating food you hate to lose weight. At least it can taste good.

🤣I got a kick out of watching you do that Dr Now challenge. You were sooo cute explaining & showing your recipes. I enjoyed it. You look amazing just as you are. ❤🥰
!!!!! I have no idea how I landed on this video. I’m a 74 year old American white woman who has been living in Europe for the last 35 years - the last 26 years in Sweden with my Swedish husband. But I CANNOT look away. Just thank you for existing!
Peanut butter is not that bad. It’s good protein. If you eat carbs, have it with protein so it doesn’t spike sugar and your body is able to process the carbs better.
Lots of sugar, oil and salt unless it’s literally just ground peanuts 🥜
Most peanut butters have a ton of added sugar. It needs to be of the “natural” variety that’s made just peanuts.
How did you lose the weight?
GREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!
In 4 months. Howw??
you'll gain it again plus more this time too, because as you saw from personal experience, diets don't work. You can't restrict forever. Once you stop restricting, you'll get back to your body's preferred weight.
I am 250lbs and the crazy part is some people are 250 and look a lot bigger then me how is that my possible
It would be really challenging going from what and how you're use to eating something to straight bland recipes. 😵💫
Enjoy you so much Girl!!! Blessings to you and the family!!!♥️
Salads are SO GOOD. Especially with peppers and cucumbers. But it just takes so much energy to make them. It's a lot of work for real. Maybe because I'm making mine daily? I need to start just doing the weekend prep thing.
I tried salad in a jar and it kept pretty well for 3 days. I love salads, but hate having to clean and cut up all those veggies.
Salt is bad for morbidly obese people for a plethora of health reasons. I'm sure he eliminated the salt in the recipes intentionally.
Bland food is a good idea for the morbidly obese for several reasons as well, such as
1)Preparing for the gastric surgery (wherein highly seasoned food can't be eaten)
2)To avoid stomach upset or possibly interactions with certain medication
3)Bland food is typically eaten more slowly
4)Teaching people to eat to live instead of loving a flavor profile and living to eat
I am supposedly morbid obese and don't have blood pressure issues or diabetic. Not all of us has issues like that.
It’s for their high blood pressure and lymphedema .
I lovvvvve the show, watch it in my home gym as I workout…keeps me motivated as hell to be my healthiest self!
Your face eating the stuffed cabbage thing was like me when I eat something I don’t like the texture of. The face that says it all-trying to choke down the food. I call it my sour face look.
I'd definitely have had to cook that cabbage on down!
I don't have an issue with this diet. As you realized, meal prep is going to be important to success. Portion out your veggies so you can literally toss them in a pan with your protein. I do so much better when I prep meals at the beginning of the week and have a plan.
I cried so hard during one of the episodes while i was pregnant, and that was the last time I ever put that show on 😂
OMG he has a book?! LOL I NEED IT 🤣
Similar to 6 week body makeover. It works. But no salt, sugar, oil butter or processed foods. Lost 25-35 lbs in 6 weeks
Gurl how???
Omg i need to do that
What happened when you back to adding oils and butter?
For salads, try cabbage instead of lettuce it’s much more filling .
Hun, when you waved that spoon while eating the peanut butter 😊, I truly understand the struggle. ❤❤
Spices. Herbs. Garlic. Onion. Lemons.
Keep the food scale and measuring scoops/spoons/cups on the counter by the cutting board. Like, just leave it out at all times, along with your food journal.
Mushrooms. Soups.
Air fryer.
A promise is a promise trinity thank you for keeping your promise
I love her personality omg 😭 subbing just off that
Chick-fil-A just created a cookbook you should do that next !
Chick fil is full of sugar even the salads
THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS. I have wanted to try it for a while. What a great campaign you ran as well!
Thanks for the video. I have received books with typos/misspellings and when I looked in the very back of the books, the last page facing the back cover, it had "made in the USA, and city & state (can differ with books) and a date. I realized the dates where recent, I looked at my order date of the books and they matched or a day or two from the date I ordered them. A friend had this with her orders as well. Just thought I would mention this so others can be aware.
Her comment about Peanut Butter cracked me up! I really love her honesty and how she shares her thoughts/experiences (stuffed cabbages...)😅
It’s so many salt free seasoning out and other herbs you can actually make the food good. I’m for sure about to try this
oh than you for such a fun enjoyable video!!! I ended up laughing so hard around the cabbage taco and your face trying to eat it -- a mirror of my own on many occasions! I just love your presentation and the fun you bring to the topic! than you for a wonderful 10 minutes!
Listen baby wen u was eating that lettuce taco girl I wanted to cry for u boo 😅😂😂😂 Lord I wouldn't be able to substain lol
Lol that face she made was golden
I love this show too and that was so neat you tried the meal plan Dr. Now gives. Also thank you for the salad prep idea! I have a bunch of those plastic containers from take out. I've been wanting to do a salad prep but never wanted to get those glass jars. So thank you for reminding me to use what I already have😂
Girl. That peanut butter moment is absolutely legit!
DANG, not even no Mrs Dash. My Caribbean ass could never be so brave. I have dietary restrictions but this is too much😂
I use Sea Salt. Way healthier, only a pinch or two needed? You can use herbs for flavoring.
Girl you are so strong! I don’t think I could do it!
I think Dr. NOW can hold his own. He doesn't seem like the type that gets hurt by words.
Thank you!! I do intermittent fasting and will do the cabbage tacos! You are so pretty😊
Eating the peanut butter in the pantry took me out 😂😂😂
Dr. Now is a scary little man. Lol. We all know it. 😂
Loved this, btw.. ♥️
Sorry to keep adding to this 😂. Those cabbage tacos would’ve been great rolled and steamed. Only way I can eat raw cabbage is in cole slaw.
No before and after??? 🤷🏼♀️ that’s what we were all waiting for… ☹️
Salt is probably a no-no because a lot of people on the show have issues with hypertension and other heart issues
I love this episode. Yes water every day no more sugar. No more peanut butter. Eat apples grapes or shakes
Natural peanut butter with apple slices is a great and healthy snack
Hubby and I have been eating like this for the last year. Getting grains and sugar out of my life was the best thing I could have done for myself. However we do need some sodium and some healthy fats in our life. No sodium can lead to an electrolytes imbalance. Hubby and I weigh and measure everything. So have one or two Tablespoons of peanut butter.......just not half the jar. Hubby and I have lost weight, and all our bloodwork is normal now. This type of diet really does work. It's basically a clean keto diet.
Love the video. My 600 pound life is one of my favorite shows.
I enjoyed watching your comments and humor. I am also a fan of the show!
your house decor is everything!
This diet takes all the joy out of life and will lead to deprivation, sadness, and eventual bingeing.
You eating that peanut butter took me out! 😂
Hello, I'm a huge fan of Doctor Now but some a little rough at times but i also know he cares deeply for his Patients!!!!!!!❤😊🙏
Thanks for sharing, i enjoyed your content.
Ms. Ruby
Did you end up weighing yourself before and after? any change there? I was confused when you said there is no after?
The peanut butter section gave me so much life!!!😅
That’s so me in my sweet deprivation moments 😅
news flash: you have been eating keto. keep it up for continuing results. if you want it fast try it with intermittent fasting. they work
I would love to see anyone try the intermittent fasting. But you should talk to your doctor first.🙏🏻
The peanut butter is okay if you make it yourself with no sugar or oils. Peanuts have enough naturally occurring oils.
One more tip is to not drink anything for a half hour before until ahalf hour after meals so it does not turn your food into a slurry which leaves your stomach faster.
RNY 06/17/09. Total WL 202 Lbs and still maintaining.
If you want to avoid salt but still want some taste maybe try sea salt or pink Himalayan. Salt. It's much. Healthier than. Table salt
Salt is salt.
Awe shucks! Took 2 months for you to cross my time line.. but I do recall feeling a way when you was well over the likes required for part 2. 😂
Thanks for being a woman of your word 😊
Hi Trinity! I love your videos, you’re really funny and I can have good company while doing my stuff at home! I think you did pretty well, at the end of the day you’re not 600 pounds like others have told you! You move through the house and with a family on your shoulders you definitely need energy! 💗
Your great!! Loved this show!!
I am also a watcher of the 600lb life and thoroughly relate to all those people struggling with food addiction
I have never reached a weight beyond 200lbs but I have struggled with binge eating and the desire to keep eating carby, sugary and comfort type foods!
Horrible!
Looking forward to more of your content!
You did do it. Yay this is awesome. I can’t wait to watch this one.
Giving up alot of processed food has made me feel millions times better I no longer crave candy or sugar at weird hours of the days, I’d rather have a fruit or vegetable before I even touch what I used to eat
I went whole food plant based 4 years ago for my diabetes. I weighed 192 and am 5’7”. I lost 30 pounds the first month. I’m entertained watching you practically die here when you are still having eggs and meat ☺️ I love the way I eat. Sorry Dr N did not tell you but seasonings other than salt help your health and your tastebuds ❤ you were brave and this is a great video 👍👏
Wow what did you do? Great job!
She’s so pretty and so funny! Lol. I thought peanut butter was on the list and it was on the avoid list 😂😂😂
