There's a sticker on the driver's front fender that's usually on commercial vehicles. That means it's probably registered at 11000kg or more, which requires a CDL to drive. Maybe not necessarily, but usually. That may be why you didn't get a ticket, but either way, great content as always.
@Sak-zo1ui I'm not sure that's true. You can't daily a tractor just because you say it's not for commercial use. A G class license can only drive a vehicle up to 11000kg. At 11000kg you need a cdl. Caveat you can in some cases drive a vehicle like a wrecker (tow truck) or flatbed with a G classes license, so long as you are operating under the cdl of the owner/operator.
You don't need a commercial driver's license to drive that truck. But if it is over a certain weight, or is used for commercial purposes, it must have a weight rating and pass inspections. The driver does not need special licensing unless there are air brakes.

The only way I would have one was the F-650s that are set up for long distance towing with good highway tires and a hauler bed. A Jake Brake opens the engine exhaust valves at the top of the compression stroke to release the stored energy. It is much more effective than an exhaust brake. The exhaust brake on your test truck just raises backpressure so the engine has to do more work on the exhaust stroke to expel the exhaust gases. Nerdy Bit Of Trivia: Clessie Cummins, the founder of Cummins Engine Co., invented the Jake Brake. He invented it long after he had been maneuvered out of his own company, but gave them the opportunity to manufacture it. They turned him down, so he sold the invention to Jacobs Manufacturing, who named it the Jake Brake.

It's utterly ridiculous and infantile, but I like it.
I would get the chromed 6 door 8 seater version they had on Top Gear, though.
This version is a bit small and understated.
The comedic value of this video is worth the watch alone.....lol. I don't know why I got such amusement when James starting driving, or why I got an image of a kid at Christmas driving their new Power Wheels they got and were trying to drive.

And you also didn't just use semi's?
The Factory F650 can be configured to be almost a semi, so if you don't need the full capacity of an actual Semi, why not? After all the F650 is way cheaper.

I'm always quite amazed you can drive this in the US or Canada with a normal license. In Iceland you need a special license to drive anything heavier than 3.5 metric tons.

@@Varasalvi2 no i just think that if it happens in iceland it probably doesn’t happen anywhere else
@@UncleHowardRealYes Well that's just not the case. Overall Iceland pretty much copies most driving laws from Europe, especially when it comes to heavy vehicles regulations. A quick google search confirmed that the 3.5 tons limit is not unique to Iceland.
Honestly, my experience is that if it's a rule in the US, it is likely not a rule anywhere else. Which is funny considering you just made that point as a (i presume) American.

There's a sticker on the driver's front fender that's usually on commercial vehicles. That means it's probably registered at 11000kg or more, which requires a CDL to drive. Maybe not necessarily, but usually. That may be why you didn't get a ticket, but either way, great content as always.
It is isnt required until the truck is used for commercial purposes. You can daily this truck without a cdl.
What is the "C" in CDL?@@philipschofield7105
You don't need a commercial driver's license to drive that truck. But if it is over a certain weight, or is used for commercial purposes, it must have a weight rating and pass inspections. The driver does not need special licensing unless there are air brakes.

Years ago one of my clients, who was an NFL player, had a F-650 all customized like this and he lent it to me for awhile. It got so much attention from all sorts of people! Most of the time it was positive. I've spent time driving all sorts of crazy cars and this was up there in the look at me type of way. The only way I would have one was the F-650s that are set up for long distance towing with good highway tires and a hauler bed. BTW there is a company that makes a suspension for them that actually makes them ride really good. It's about $10k to $15k but when you're already spending this much why people don't get that all that often is beyond me.

Nerdy Bit Of Trivia:
Clessie Cummins, the founder of Cummins Engine Co., invented the Jake Brake. He invented it long after he had been maneuvered out of his own company, but gave them the opportunity to manufacture it. They turned him down, so he sold the invention to Jacobs Manufacturing, who named it the Jake Brake.
