HOW TO FIX LEFT JOY-CON ISSUES!! - Nintendo Switch Desync Disconnecting Problem

- This is how you make sure your Joy-Cons are ALSO updated to the latest software version!!
1. Go to System Settings
2. Select "Controllers and Sensors"
3. Select "Disconnect Controllers"
4. Detach your Joy-Con controllers from the Switch
5. Turn the Switch all the way off (power all the way down, don't just enter Sleep Mode)
6. Turn the Switch back on and reattach the Joy-Con controllers
7. Live the dream!

I have a very happy and relieved 11yo Switch player in the house again - he's been miserable since getting his Zelda Links Awakening game at the weekend and not able to play it properly with left joy con drift being a constant 'issue'. Thank you sooooooo much for this quick fix!!! Like others' here, I thought we'd have to go through the trouble and expense of sending the joy con away for repair and having a miserable boy who'd have to go a week or more without playing. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)
Even after calibrating the left joy con and was normal. I put the controller in the console and it drifted. I disconnected like he said and it fixed it. Wow. So awesome
Dude, you're a legend for this. Nintendo should pay tribute to people whom get their shit together for them. Not only did this fix the connectivity, but i was having irritating range issues that kept fluctuating the signal, or creating input lag, and now i can use my joycons from the next room, through a wall. LOL

you wonderful human being. now my splatoon character does not all of a sudden freeze in an intense battle
It happened to me to in Splatoon 2 whenever I was in a good battle my character froze and then i died :(
I couldn’t use my power up in splatoon 2 lol, the joy on didn’t work :(

That is absolutely awesome. I have been using the right joy con separately whenever I had to play with family and friends and I gave them the pro controllers I had. But now I can use both joy-cons on a grip. You truly deserve the name “The Gadget God!”

This does work, I'd like to point out that you have to remove the joycons immediately after you disconnect them, don't click any button afterward

Thank god for this video. I saw last night that my left joycon doesn’t charge when it’s attached to the switch in handheld mode and thought I was gonna have to send it in for repair, which I really didn’t want to do. This fixed it on the first go. Thanks man

Wow! I can’t believe this actually worked. I have had this issue since launch almost 2 years. I have a pro controller, but whenever I want to play smash with more controllers, we can’t use the joy cons because they’re so unreliable. So crazy that it took two years to fix the issue and this fix was so simple. Thanks for the video man. I was almost going to buy new joy cons.

And here I was wondering wtf was wrong with my left JoyCon playing Taiko No Tatsujin for a week lol; then I noticed the left joycon would hit notes fine and then randomly vibrate and act like it was turned off / turning back on. This may have solved the issue. Thanks!

My right joy con was de-syncing a bit, like, it'll move then stop moving, but after using these steps, my right joy con is working normally again. Thank you very much.

@@natalieseville1820 They changed the disconnection menu thing so you have to take them off the console before pressing disconnect and then use touch screen to turn the console off

Holy mackerel, it worked! Like my left joystick had a responsive issue, which even when held to a direction to it's max, it like recognized it half way then to the max. Thanks man, it helped

Got a refurbished switch last year and have had random left joy con issues. With the issue happening more and more and not seeing any immediate outside joy con problems I pondered buying new ones but then saw this and tried it. I will see if this does the trick but it'll take a few months to see if the issue is completely gone. Ty for sharing this vid! Still helping people in 2020!

this has been driving me insane for weeks! I thought our controller was broken, but when disconnected it worked perfectly fine. Every time I connect the left controller, it doesnt get recognized as being attached to the console, it just shows that it's charging. Thank you so much!

6 years after this video was uploaded and just solved a really strange problem I had: the left joystick (only the joystick, not the entire joy-con) wasn't working if the battery of the nintendo switch wasn't 100% full (pretty strange, huh?). But now after doing this is working perfectly, tysm!

I honestly do not know what to say other than, wow. Thank you. I recently bought a game and the only reason my enjoyment was hampered during my gameplay was my controller desyncing randomly. It was incredibly frustrating. Thanks to your easy fix however, my controller ACTUALLY works now. It's incredibly helpful especially since the game I'm playing is an RPG, which incorrect button prompts can severely ruin the experience.

I didn't know this was even an issue. I haven't had any issues with my Switch since I got it 2yrs or so ago. I was getting frustrated and about to open my Switch up, or yell at my kid asking wtf he did to my Switch lol. This worked the 1st try, much appreciated for the vid. Earned my sub for sure!!! Thx!!!
