    Honestly, the best solution is warranty repair / replacement. You'll have to live without your controller for a week or two, but it's a guaranteed fix for free, so long as you're still under warranty

      I had this problem for two of my Joy-Con pairs and my Pro. I was going to have to pay, but I literally had to call Nintendo 8 times, across the span of a WHOLE week, so they ended up wiping the price. My service wasn't that great, but in the end I got replacements!

So again i went back and gave the pro controller one last try. I returned the defective one and got the new one. Ive had the controller for 3 weeks now and it has been working great now. I feel like Nintendo is more worried about Quantity over Quality. Hopefully they adress these issues.

  • @skeletorrobo

    My two cents (from Australia)
    I had drift problems with both blue and red controllers. I blew on the exposed section (lifting the rubber skirt below the knob of the joystick, sounds wrong maybe, but whatever), Turned the controller upside down and rubbed with a toothbrush, updated the Switch, updated the controllers and callibrated and recallibrated and it did absolutley NOTHING.
    Watched a video about using a non conductive contact cleaner. So I went to Bunnings and got a WD40 Specialist Fast Drying Contact Cleaner "penetrates quickly and leaves no residue. For use on electrical equipment, contacts plastic & rubber" Cost about $17. Didn't know it would work, but thought I take the risk before forking out $120 for a new pair of controllers.
    With the help of another, I lifted the skirting of the red joystick using a large pin and shot on two sides of the joystick using the cleaner, which came with a long yellow straw for precision application.
    Incredibly, almost magically the red controller worked good as new after first letting it dry (to air) for about 10 minutes.
    I tried the blue controller and found it more troublesome. It consistently drifted north. I tried it once, twice and no change On the third try I applied the spray ot the east and west sides of the joystick and after reconnecting and a quick rotation, it also now works good as new.
    I can't say this will work for you. But thought I'd share my experience in case you're at wits end and thinking about ordering new controllers. Good luck.

      It may be a calibration problem, is this also present on the home menu? If it is present then it probably is (it does seem like it). Try calibrating your controller first on the calibration menu. If it doesn't, try blowing it with air as I explained.

      Gustavo Ramos Thanks for the response. I bought a new toothbrush just today and I brush the bottom part and when I test it out it seems to work a little but the slight problems I'm having is that it keeps doing the same thing When I put the cap on the analog stick. I'll try to see what I can do and maybe try and brush the bottom daily and see if it helps.

    • @gugo80
      @gugo80  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Immanboy420 Nam what brushing it around the analog stick and under that rubber protective part does is cleaning superficially, I don't think that may make much of a difference. I do reccomend you try blowing air into it from the direction it keeps pulling to, just as testing means. I used that party balloon pump, any pump that blows clean ambient air into it may work (the best/safest is a compressed air can as i said in the video) , the first time I used a hair drier (in cold mode), it made somewhat of a difference, but it doesn't really have much pressure into it. Remember to lift the rubber part so if there is really dust inside it gets out with the air you blow into it.

      red crimson102 , that depends on the person, I suppose. Maybe you might want a different color for your console down the road. It happens, in fact I did it twice. It's not that expensive if you know what your doing. You could also just replace the analog which is also pretty cheap.

    This shouldn’t even be a problem, and at the very least it should be fixed for free, warranty or not.

      Fortunately, they're doing it right now, even for Latin America. We usually don't get those issues addressed by Nintendo, but they're even doing it for free. I hope they don't just fix/replace the analogs, but also come up with a way to avoid this happening again.

    My problem is the left stick won't make complete steady rotations in calibration mode. The green dot tends to bounce around. This is my third set of joycons and they all end up doing this.

  • @gerbils1336614
    @gerbils1336614 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    If that's not the case and calibrating doesn't work, just think back to the ps2 and GameCube. The analog or thumb sticks got stuck and drifted because of dust build up right on the edges of the controller inside the thumb stick. You need to open your control and clean it, first use air duster and then wipe the remaining stuff off with a Q tip. Worked for me, they haven't drifted since. I can play Mario kart, and breath of the wild no problem now.

    So like this problem is usually caused by crumbs of ass that get jammed in the mechanism that reads the direction the stick is being pushed. Pro tip, the EASIEST way to solve this problem is just to fold back the gasket at the base of the problem stick and blast the area underneath with some canned air. Tweezers and such are def not recommended as you could just cause more damage. When you push the stick in and roll it around like that, all your doing is smashing the debris around and eventually it will find its way back.
    Edit: Big N says use a toothbrush, and while thats more than perfectly acceptable, canned air is the way to go-- if you have access to it. Just either way, remember to fold back the rubber flap at the base of the stick so that you can see part of the mechanism. You might need a pen or some really long fingernails or something to get to it.

      Gustavo Ramos i usually just scrape around the pad in the middle, that solves it temporarily

    • @gugo80
      @gugo80  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TissueBomb wow, that's weird, you scrape it as the Nintendo Support reccomends you to do? If so, then it could be a problem with the rubber protection on the analog stick. I'm not sure if it is, but it could be.
      Try looking at it up close with a flashlight, and under it by lifting it gently (you don't wanna end up damaging this rubber part). If you find any nub or bump on or under it, let me know, there may be even more causes to this problems than we know.
