i believe the 0-60 in the MDX type s is listed as 5.5 versus that of the basic MDX listed as 6.4, not sure if the 1 or 1.5 second is a huge difference. what i will say is that I own a 2011 mdx basic with SH-AWD and the car has such an agility in a twisty road and inclement weather. of course my 2011 MDX has a 3.7L 300HP engine, i drove a 2023 Advance and the car felt slugish when shifting gears.
@@BrianMakse no worries, I keep Up on these bc the lease on my 23 is up next near year and I want to know all the changes that have been made over the years 👍
I wish reviewers would stop crying about knob shifters as opposed to levers. If you can't adapt to it what wrong with you? I have 6 cars with knob, lever and manual transmissions. Love them all. Sheezus.
@@BrianMakse not a knob guy. Car guy. And the the MDX is not even a knob selector, it's a push button interface. Big bald bearded TH-camr can't handle a knob or a touchpad? Pretend it's the volume for your voice and that the touchpad is your nose, which you probably have plenty of experience fingering. Or you can go ahead and be the TH-cam lever guy.
@@BrianMakse what didn’t work is trying to pawn this off as some amazing performance suv. But i get it you gotta type that stuff for video hits. Good job buddy
Indeed, it retains the familiar body style with a few minor changes, maintaining the same 355 horsepower, which might lead some to label it as the unexciting, old MDX.
they did.. the previous generation came mdx hybrid at 320hp.. and rlx hybrid at 380hp.. don't know why acura didn't continue with that tech.. should have done both and went to 400 plus hp.. it even had a dual clutch
Nice review 👍 God bless Danielle Smith and Alberta 👍 As for Acuras, these are overpriced, under engineered, complexity is killing this brand. The best Acuras were made back in the 80s and 90s, nowadays they complicated for no reason. Just look at the gear shift…what a disastrously engineered design. The ergonomics are so out of touch, learn from your 80s Acuras, what a beautiful design inside…these new models needs a lot of work. These guys at Acura can’t even design an engine cover properly…the Acura logo is off centred. 🤦🏻♂️ 87K for Acura???? You can get Lexus for better quality and less price. You can get a Audi, Benz and even a Porsche for about the same money.
It’s a single turbo not two
Yup and the engine is not legendary. It relatively new.
Yeah, he lost me there
correction, its a single turbo with twin scrolls. Which is very different than 2 turbos.
We need a redesign RDX with Type S trim
I can get behind that idea!
Hear hear !!!🍻

Which one do you prefer? 2011 or 2023?
I think the track pad is gone on the 2025 model. Great review Brian!
It definitely is. 💯 true
Hope so, I'm a bit late to this MDX Type S party. Would have been nice to start with the 25!

Given the higher price range of this type S, how would you compare it with the BMW X5?

Perfect idea for your own TH-cam channel. You can be the knob guy.

The new 2025 doesn’t have a pad and the screen is a touch screen
lmfao at the title. slowest in class, barely 355hp, worst mpg in class.
Yeah a terror for those that thought type s was fast lol
What’s even funnier is that we test thumbnails…and the one you were delivered worked!

@@user1989fopfrs7 you clearly missed the points I made about this, but that's fine by me

I would love to buy another Acura, but they have to get at least a hybrid, if not a PHEV, on the road!

the placebo button or "mode selector" is freaking useless, does nothing for the 2023 MDX Advance.
Brutal fuel economy.
Old school overpriced ride. 👎🏼
Outrageous priced.. gas guzzler, and not hybrid... so acura can not sale it!!
Its only one turbo not twin turbo 😂😂😂
Why he keeps saying two turbos ? I 😂
He likes leaving mistakes in some episodes.
Not twin turbo!!! This is a low sale acura.. Toyota rav4 better buy
This is a channel for drivers.

What Acura is $87,000?. I have an MDX Type S advance and mine was like 74.
