This is why your teacher teaches you this, they want you to get those nasty deck shot clips ever wonder why you were trying to find how far the ball were to land if went a certain speed and angle. This is for sea of thieves this is why they taught this. (JkJk) but quadratics is valid for any cannoneer

Thank you so much, been wanting to get into hourglass pvp for a while now but for the longest time I was daunted by how bad I was partly due to the fact that I've always avoided pvp since playing on controller can be a massive handicap when fighting keyboard+mouse players.
I keep watching these videos in case I'm missing something, yet there are games I can't hit a shot to save my life in an easy scenario, then during a hard case I keep hitting.
I genuinely don't know what I'm doing wrong besides sudden changes in waves. It's frustrating.

best bit of advice i got was it's the veolcity of the cannon going up/down and NOT the angle its pointed at (for the most part)
hey, I have a problem with the settings because I noticed that when you shoot with cannons, they usually don't move and I would like to know how to do it so that I can have it in my game as well. so how could I do this and if it is still possible to do this
Wanna add someting about cannon shootting. If u head north west, your ship will rise side to side making your shootting mutch harder, instead go East. Your shootting gonna be mutch better ;)

Its funny how much perfect sea of thieves combat resembles submarine warfare. If you had time to plot out the trajectory of every shot, it would be a massive advantage, allowing you to win fights.

heres what you need to hit cannons on choppy waves:
lower than 100 ping
I think that lower ping helps, but for the most part ping only affects loading the cannons, once you get used to the delay before firing the cannon you can cannon just as well on ping!

Gotchu man, it’s really just a difference in their weight more so, this results in faster drop and hence higher angle and therefore slower speed

Shit I knew chains dropped faster than normal cannons but I had no idea that they travel slower to 🙃
Now I know why my chains always went slightly behind the mast all the time
The reason they drop faster is because their initial velocity is lower! There is lots of cool physics surrounding this that I 100% recommend!

regular cannonballs i can just intuitivley shoot and (for the most part) not miss, but chainshots are really messing me up... getting better though...
Based, the main thing for chains is shooting them slowly and consciously adjusting based on the last chainshot. And sometimes shooting them lower or higher depending on how they feel/if they are hitting.

Lead referring to the front of their ship more lead is basically aim further forward to their nose

I slowed your video and you pointed to the wrong patch of grass.
Players are heavier then chains.
The reason why you point slightly up when shooting a player, contrary to chains that need to be pointed higher is because when you shoot a player you don't wanna hit the ship anymore. By shooting the player you are better off shooting slightly upper then the balls, because you will be shoot lower do to be heavy and slide in the water.
In other hand, when you want to demast them, it is obvious you have to point much higher then players.
But players are heavier then chains.

You missed the most important bit. Raising the canon above 45° from horizontal will not net you any more distance. Yeah, quadratic equations are useful but gaining a feel for how each shot will act and the lead/lag required for each situation is more important. I've seen many players waste cannon balls at max range when they are better off waiting for a better target. I'm not talking about those who fire one or two cannon balls just gauging range but those who fire 100 cannon balls just to get 1 lucky hit.
You’re absolutely right on the 45 degrees part, however I still think it’s worth shooting cannons at max range, (so long as you have plenty) as the occasional hit doesn’t do you any harm and you’ll only improve!
@@massivespongeold true, but if you're just wildly firing at max range you're just wasting cannon balls. With the first few shots you should be able to tell if the other ship is within range. Ideally you want the enemy ship within about 75% of max range because of the effect of the waves.
