Most tutorials today, lack details and in-dept instructions due to peoples decreasing attention spans.. Glad to see that there are still someone making quality guides!
This is probably the best helm guide out there!!
Thanks!
Omfg!!!! Simply the best guide I've ever seen
While its easy for someone's jaw to drop watching the crazy cracked gameplay through out this video, or get a cramped wrist from taking all the amazing notes from the very thoughtful tips, but honestly I am sitting here in absolute awe of the edits and effort and talent putting this video together. Great Job Puff!

I love how this video doubles as a highlight reel for you. Some of these clips are fire 🔥🔥🔥Sheeeesh!
Great work on the video. I particularly like your communication section. I don't see many people talking about that.
Thanks for the video 😊
Was the best way to showcase the gameplay after all 🤣

More to come!
One of the BEST guides for PvP ever!
WOOOOOO WE LOVE PUFFY VIDEOS
Huge Vid!! Puff
Great video!
thanks for making this. i learn so much more from commentary than just watching gameplay. i know you can only fit so much into a single video. if you ever decide to expand on this educational format i'd find it so helpful seeing a vod review of either yours or even you reviewing someone else's helm pov. i really struggle w/ comms and that's a big issue as a helm. it's most likely that i need to further develop my understanding of sloop hg because i do it so little. any tips for learning comms would be super appreciated. i should probably start watching your stream honestly. i subbed and liked.
Hey, appreciate you for leaving a comment! 💛
When it comes to comms I usually just tell the other person what I'm doing. If I'm healing, what I'm repairing, if i hit someone with a sniper, if I need help with buckets, if my wheel is a certain tier damaged, if I'm repairing a tier 3 in the front bottom deck, if I'm repairing a right side hole etc. At least this is how it goes in Sloop HG! Simply letting your cannoneer know where you are on the boat and what you're doing. Feel free to stop by the stream to get the live action of it! Friday coming up I will be hourglassing a lot due to Gold and Glory! Welcome in ✨
Nice video, picked up a few things
10/10 Vid 🔥
best guide ever made by bestest strimmer ever.. also i just wanna say i love the thumbnail it was so clean aaaaa
Holy shit, what an amazing video. Thank you Puffski!
Great vid
Thank you!
great video! one thing that you're shown doing several times, but never mention out loud, is bringing a bucket of your own water on a board to splash on the enemy boat. it can be *such* a game changer that i feel like a lot of boarders forget about and can be pulled off pretty easily even if you're being ladder guarded or just need to play water.
also, that snipe at 10:30 was beautiful. all the clips were great, but damn that one stuck out for me.
Yes, you're actually not the first one mentioning it and it's definitely something I hope to bring up in a more "Hourglass/PvP Guide". It's such a great way to apply extra pressure when you board 😄
Thank you very much for you comment 💛
solid guide been helming for 4 yrs and learned several things
I'm glad! 🙏
Great guide even for good players
Ggs Puff, keep up the fun duos going with Db 🏴☠🍻
Great video, Puff!
Thank you very much!!
@@pufferson it was horibble i hope for bad things upon u
Great vid (my jaw dropped at your lvs)
I might learn helm now 😅
Let's gooooo
This is grrat and also has good advice for a solo sloop like myself
jesus christ lady the levels (new sub)
I know all this already, only issue I have as helm is sniping in orbital and death spiral. It is possible to make a video on like where to aim roughly at certain distances and speeds. Only if possible tho :)
That would be a very difficult topic. The answer in the video would be "practice" and I don't know how I'd make it more descriptive then that. I'll definitely think about it tho 😀
First by BurgoTheDawg.. Love you pufffff
the cannoneer, cannons. The helm, (my dumbass: HELMS), keep the angle...
Hey can you please make a sea of thieves video about main connon
I can absolutely consider it, even if cannoning isn't my strongest role!
I'll add it to the list of videos for the future :D
I have a question. I’ve watched hours of ship battle gameplay, and I never see anyone shoot blunderbombs to turn the opponent’s vessel and knock them out of cannon angle. Why is this? Does it not work? PS this is a fantastic video, it makes me want to try hourglass again!
It does work, but just more common on bigger ships; galleon fights especially. On sloop it's easier to adjust and correct the angle. People do it, just less common! We personally don't really use it and focus more on applying consistent damage with cannonballs to execute the fight faster :)
Lets goooo😊
Lets GOOO
Damn. Phuzzybond gotta step up his gameplay
🍻
Looks like im your thousandth viewer!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
At that level, I wouldn't even fight you. I'd just ask for advice lol
Any time! Stick around for more 😁

The ego top moment
POLL: Can you be a good helm if your cannoneer can’t hit the broad side of the pirate lords ass?
Yes or no?
dont forget if you lose, call cheats and then ban the person in your chat, and your 4k lvls come from db carrying you
I disagree with many things in this video. One of them that it’s the job of the helm to board, it should be the cannoner’s job. Saves a few precious seconds. You should never prioritise repairing the mast if it goes down, catching it but not repairing it is the better option, bucketing and keeping angle should be the priority.
It's up to every individual crew to decide who they want the main boarder to be, there's no such thing as right and wrong in the topic! Good communication makes the "save precious seconds" quite non-existent in our case. It's been working for us is what I'm trying to say!
In the video I never talk about the specific situation if mast is falling, only when it breaks. I agree it's totally different situations and requires different actions. Situations like this is something I meant to bring up in a different video :)
@@pufferson what I meant by "save precious seconds" is that if the helm were to board, they'd have to get off the wheel and run to the cannon. If the cannoner boards all the time (the first time at least, then rotate during respawns) it will save a few seconds, seconds that the enemy crew can use to line up a cross as you climb into the cannon.
@@TacticalFormat In my experience those "seconds" are quite insignificant. I can't recall a loss from playing the way we do (me boarding as a helm, that is).
I see what you're saying though and I disagree with you. I will always encourage every crew to play the way they want especially when it comes to this. I'd dislike helming very much if all I do was being stuck on my own boat and not get any direct "action" that cannoning and boarding gives. I say this as well with the experience of playing with people that refuse the helming role. Play the way that works for you and your crew! 😄
@@TacticalFormat While you're right, it does take helm 2 seconds to jump into the cannon, rather than the MC's jumping in instantly. There's 2 reasons why helm boarding can be better than MC.
(1) - If the helm gets into the cannon while MC is still shooting, the MC can EASILY deckshot / laddershot you onto the enemy's boat. Rather than MC trying to shoot himself, and an unlucky wave hitting so he simply bounces off the opposing team's ship and has to swim for a couple seconds.
(2) - When helm grabs onto the cannon, not only will there be a couple second delay between MC shooting out of the cannon and Helm going to cannon, but Helm also has to figure out where to aim and whether the cannons are shooting high or low. So in mid-far range broads, this can cause your Helm to miss the first 2-3 shots.
But it's really not that serious. If you've gotten into a situation where your boat only has a few holes, and the enemy crew is hurting WAY MORE than you are to the point that you're able to send a boarder to their boat, those 2-3 extra seconds really don't matter. They're not going to suddenly recover in those 2 seconds to the point that you lose the game. But to each their own. If you wanna ONLY have MC go for a board, then go for it, but it's not an incorrect play to have helm go for board.
your really bad for your hg lvl ngl
nobody cares :)) this is her first fps game of what i know. And she’s doing amazing
PUFF ON TOP! AYOOO!
