I own 6 sloops that represent the different trading companies, as well as one that serves as my main ship. I wish people just used what they think looks good without worrying too much about weird advantages and what group they belong in, feels like I see the same ship sets over and over again on the seas
I just bought my third sloop. Named it cold steel(gargoyles refrence) I’m just giving it some colorful cosmetics and using it as a lets see what we get into ship honestly
I’ve got 300 hours into the game and I use the ashen dragon set just cause I think fire in general is cool, I know the stereotypes like the guy in the video said how they’re all wannabe sweats, but like you said I just use it cause I like it even though I could rock just about any other ship set 😂

My main sloop uses the Hunter set, often associated with new players but I just like that it looks piratey. I just swapped out the regular sail for the Dawn Hunter one because I really like the design.
The Order is my favorite. I mean think about it. Almost all raids/ community events gives out some decent skull of some kind. Skellies are easy money. Skelly ships pop outta nowhere all the time. And the sets aren't half bad at all. Plus more than half of messeges in a bottle are for order.
I just love the voodoo aesthetic and they may give less loot in their voyages but the quality of them equals out the quantity of something like gold hoarder with all the tiny little trinkets.
As an Ori fan myself, I was sad when I was late for the original twitch drop for the Ancestral set. Whenever I came across any flying the colors of MoonShine studios, I thought they would be friendly. Oh, was I a sweet summer child; they come after me RELENTLESSLY. Didn't matter if you were doing your own thing, they'd stomp over solo sloops like me back then. It came to a point that if ever I saw those sails on the horizon, I would turn my ship around and hope they didn't see me. However, now that I got the ship set for myself recently, I sail my "Spirit of Nature" with pride. So now you're at least able to find ONE Ori fan on the seas.
As someone who does Merchant ambassador a lot, we are pretty chill and easy going. But as soon as you threaten our shipping lanes or our money intake, your marked for death.

A merchant who gets attacked while running a delivery mission will also go HAM cause by virtue of attacking them you've now left them with almost nothing to lose via rum bottles shattering, and cloth getting wet...chances are even if you win they'll have made swiss cheese of your hull.
Found a parrot brig at an outpost once. Was tired and about to leave so even though I was solo with a ship full of loot I parked at the outpost and began to sell the loot. They literally sat there playing instruments and watched me sell it. Heck one of them even helped me unload the loot but yet handed it to me to sell.

I got the shark hunter hull, cuttthroat cannons, wheel, and anchor, and the normal inky kraken sails, the black and purple with the hints of color make it look intimidating and not everyone has all or most of it
I use the Hunter hull (not often because I get absolutely destroyed every time) the sail with the three ships on it (grey, blue, and green) which might be from a community thing, but idk. The gold spinner wheel and the cannons you get when completing the Pirates of Caribbean tall tale. No particular reason, it’s just what I have. I finally have a ship to call my own.
Every xbox ship I've ever encountered has ALWAYS gone full sail into whatever island i was parked at, firing chainshots and only hitting my hull with them. You were spot on with the loot. Green gem and a feral bounty skull
The merchant one is relatable to me, I rock this on my sloop and I don't go after anyone unless they come near me showing no signs of being friendly and fight to survive.

to be fair, i run the full ashen dragon set with "sunken dreams" flag because i spent the time grinding out all the tomes to get EVERY commodation for the set well before they combined ashen key and ashen guardians together into 1 NPC and you still had to buy the key quests from lorana for like 10 or was it 50 dubloons
I normally use forsaken ashes ship set with the ashen dragon hull and figurehead and burning blade sales because i dont have any other ship cosmetics that look good together

Also I have only ever done the wild rose tall tales because I just wanted the white blue and gold look, plus there's a really good chance if you're within horn range I'll probably say hi to you like I'm walking past you on the street.

I had two bottom feeders go in guns blazing on me while I was fishing and sold my stuff raw to the sea port. (I caught up and found one of them at the trading post with my crate but the fish were gone. There's no way to cooked them in the amount of time) The real sad thing is I had alliance flag up and all the rare fish were in my inventory. These guys would literally have made more had they allied with me instead.
I use the inky kraken sails, anchor, and wheel with the Morningstar hull and I only use it because it fits me red ad black color scheme, but people always see me as a wannabe sweat😞

Most merchant mains are often retired reapers that just want to play sot to chill. They won’t engage first but they’re def ready for combat.
I love my wild card shipset, mixed and matched pieces that I like or go well together.
I'm slightly offended as an ashen dragon main, then I remembered the 9yo ragers using it I've encountered and it checks out.
Its almost always annoying little kids using anything that glows. They've completely ruined the Ashen and Sunken curses for me.

The infinite depths set kicks a lot of ass. Seeing the UNSC logo on the sails with the MC figurehead just looks great to me

That's the rule of the sea, it sucks but some players just want to torment others. You need to stomp them before they stomp you.
