    I had accidentally spilled some tea on my keyboard, due to which the spacebar and alt were affected. These keys were feeling sticky, but after watching this video, I was able to clean them up, and now they are back again in good condition.
    Again Thanks a lot :)

    I haven't used my laptop in a year or so, I think I took the shift key off back then because something was stuck under it and it wasn't connected properly and it's been driving me crazy. I couldn't figure out how to take it off again without breaking anything lol. Thanks to you it presses perfectly just like the other side

    I used this for my spacebar. It is quite different from this, but the gist is the same. Replacing keys from other laptops in the past helped quite a bit. The orientation of the white bits is tricky. As well as how to connect the two white bits together.
    With the spacebar, there is another strange metal bar-loop connected to the spacebar key itself. I just left it in, then put the other two metal stabilizer bars in as you did and pushed down. Then I typed and it worked. Then I pushed down even harder, and around the whole key, then it worked even better.
    I ate 12 pieces of KFC, two icecreams, then a gummy hamburger. I collapsed to the ground for 2 hours in stomach and body pain. I finally managed to go to sleep but when I woke up my arm was covered in spit, as well as my laptop. Drops of spit. Many. I have no memory of how this happened, but the spacebar got stuck as a result. I think I threw up spit the moment I woke up, but my brain did not encode that memory. I just remember my arm covered in spit. Why eating so much caused this to happened I have no idea.
    Anyway, thanks.

    Great video! Saved me from a sticky enter key after OJ spill. However, I have another issue, very similar. Could you maybe tell me how to reattatch the clip of the |/ key above the enter? I accidentally took off the white clip while trying to just take off the key to clean underneath, and the white clip fell apart into two components. This one is different/bigger though! And I can't seem to get them to go back together and into the keyboard. Any tips on how to put back together?

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The inner clip usually fits into the outer clip by a small plastic pin on the left and right. They fit into holes on the outer clip. Each keyboard is different unfortunately, so you would have to remove another similar sized key to see how its fit together as a guide or just try a couple ways until you find one that works

    Hello. I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 5i which looks exactly like the one in your video. My uissue is with my Ctrl key. It was feeling very sticky so I popped it very carefully just like your video and cleaned it. I was ablo to put the two white retainer clips back together exactly as you show. I appear to have put the retainer clips back together and snapped them in place. My issue is that when I press the key down and they clip on to the long metal clips, my key does work but the key does not lay flat. It's more like a see saw. It pops up and down as you would like but the key isn't lying flat. What am I doing wrong? I can send you pictures and you can tell me my issue. Or, can you possibly do a video on the same laptop in this video but for the Ctrl key. Thank you.

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely the key is not assembled correctly, or its damaged. To see exactly how to reinstall it, you can remove the key cap only of a similar sized key and compare the two.

    Hi Jamin, I spilled some wine on the keyboard 😀months ago. I didn't know it's possible to work with each key separately. But in your video you don't recommend doing anything with that central white spring (thing in the center of a key that makes it possible to press and turn back a key) - so what would you recommend? Should I try to clean under it? Or any liquid cannot really get under that detail, so I should just clean around and not touch the central spring? And is it ok to clean with a spirit liquid?

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The Rubber Spring is held down by a small amount of glue. That component is not designed to be removed and reinstalled. I would try to just clean around it.

      I dont have a video on that I am afraid :(
      Try searching for "Samsung 300E Teardown" and see if they access the antenna. If not, I can tell you that the Antenna cable usually runs from the top of the LCD, down through usually the right hinge assembly, across the motherboard to the wifi card.

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I can only say that I demonstrate here how to take it off. After holding down the Hinge Clip, you 'rip' off the Key Cap. It can be scary as it may take a bit of force to remove it especially if theres a sticky compond in there making it worse. And there is a degree of risk to breaking it. I still break keys every now and then. If your comfortable with the risk, I would try it. If not, I would take to a computer shop

    I took my left shift keycap off to clean under it, when I took it off the retainer clips and the bars came off with it. the clips go black onto the key slot and the bars do too but when I go to click the keycap back on its not secure and keeps wobbling around and when I pick it back up its not connected to anything and the bars come back up with it and won't stay in the holes they slide into. Is there any way I can fix this? if not what should I do because I can't get a new laptop and that seems excessive and I need it for school work and my school term goes back in just over a week.

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  ปีที่แล้ว

      If your Key Cap is not clicking down in place correctly, it is most likely due to the Retainer Clip not being properly installed or damaged. Remove the Cap and inspect for damage or that its not laying down flush and properly snapped in itself. Compare to another Clip if needed by removing another Cap.

      No, unfortunately. They are rarely sold separately. Try Ebay or Amazon for the keys assemblies.

      1. Does the key feel like there is something physically wrong with it or does it feel like its physically working fine?
      2. This video is a tutorial on how to replace a key. If your keys are not working but are not mechanically broken, troubleshoot them as seen here; th-cam.com/video/wqrchfpdJ_w/w-d-xo.html.

      They fit together with a small plastic pin on the left and right of the inner clip. These fit into holes on the outer clip. To see exactly how the inner clip sits in the outer clip, remove another key cap and copy the clip under it.

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you can replace them, yes. However, if the keyboard is a French Inset Keyboard, then its better to replace keys. The keyboard cannot be removed without breaking the palmrest so replacing keyboards in those computers is not a quality repair ;)

When I say 'Blue Screen' its in reference to a variety of 'Blue Screen' errors that stop a computer from loading the operating system. Usually an error related to the operating system or hard drive.
