    Hey bro, i really want to run this intake but will it mess up my car in any way?? i don't want to get a tune because i want to keep my warranty, perrin does say you don't need a tune but can you trust their words?? also it sounds amazing !!

    • @JDMRightHandDrive

      The AFR 's on my car reviewing the data logs with the Cobb AP are safe. Subispeed also did a intake test video for the ETS, Perrin and AEM intakes. Their dyno data showed the Perrin intake perfectly safe as will with stock tune. The date shows that the Perrin intake is good to run with stock tune. I ran it on my car for 3 months or so without any issues before getting my pro tune done.

Madison is going to learn how to drive my WRX sometime in the next month. She wants to come track racing with me this summer, so she will be in some videos later. Great video. Taking a look at it, does it look like there's room for a traditional cone filter to fit? If I got this I'd probably want to replace the oiled foam filter for an oilless AEM Dryflow or Grimm Dryconn etc. Just a personal preference thing, I hate dicking with oiled filters.

      Hey Gary so glad to see you here again #totheend, thanks for that, I appreciate you🙏 The car already has all the sensors. Inside the Cobb AP menu you can assign what sensors you want to see on the display. Its unbelievable what the AP can do for $700. You and I both know with our older cars, my GTR and your Eclipse ,how much money we have to spend to get these features. So glad I bought this car, been having so much fun with it buying parts and working in it. Unlike my GTR where the parts are so expensive, its nice this platform is affordable for the average person to buy and easily mod.

    Do you think it's better to have a tune for the BOV? I'm planning on removing mine this weekend. Many people are saying that it's not good for the engine in the long run. Thank you

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its hard to tune for a vent to atmosphere BOV with a MAF sensor, you really need to have a MAP sensor to properly tune AFR's. I am pretty sure I am going to remove mine as well. My car does weird things after installing it. When I take my car out of gear coming to a stop at a light, the rpms drop past idle and then pop back up to 2k before going to a smooth idle. I have also had my car stall a few times from the rpms dropping to low. When the car vents to atmosphere it causes it to run rich, which is what I believe is causing my issues. It will be a good test going back to stock to see if I am right. Is your car doing anything strange after installing the Turbosmart BOV?

    • @DrivenDailyPOV
      @DrivenDailyPOV ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JDMRightHandDrive thank you for the info. Well, I haven't had any problems with the car yet, but after watching a bunch of videos, I realized it's not worth damaging the car just for a noise, especially if it doesn't give you any extra power. One more question please; When I got the car, the dealer told me that I could change the oil every 6,000 miles or 6 months, but I still choose to do it every 3,000 miles. Since it's a turbo car and we shift at higher RPMs, do you recommend changing the oil every 3,000 miles?

    • @K03sport
      @K03sport ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DrivenDailyPOV ...you can change the oil every 1000 miles if you want to. early oil changes are fine, just extra costs for you. I only use miles to determine oil changes (not time; or every 6 months? 🤔). Since I drive 1k-1.2k miles a month, I do two oil changes per year (+ filter). If you don't want to do 3k mi changes, do 4k or 5k mi intervals if you don't trust the oil. Also, look into oil analysis services to get a feel for how your oil is doing. I try to do mine btwn 5500 and 6000 on my FA20DIT and use 5w-30 in Ohio. Of course, I have not done an intake deposit cleaning or changed the diff/trans gear oil and I'm at 53k miles. Oh, I did notice a 2mpg different btwn resource conserving (RC) and non-RC oils

      I listened to the video during all the pulls. When comparing what I hear in the video from what I know from driving the car. The only sound I could recognize from driving the car was the intake induction sound at full throttle. I filmed the in car footage with my I phone, so the audio pickup on that compared to my full frame Sony Alpha and external Rode mic is not high quality. Definitely not a BOV boost leak, if that's what you were thinking. Good question and thanks for watching.

  • @2azfeWeb

    Any noticeable heat soak in the charge pipe? Factory abs-style works great to prevent this, so wondering if it's noticeable. My concern would be when you're driving it normally in traffic or just cruising around and there's more of a build up of engine heat around the area.....it would just slowly soak into the pipe raising the charge air to the TMIC.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive

      The Perrin intake has lots of testing with base map, Cobb OTS tune stage 1 and 2. The AFR values are within safe ratios. So yes, you can safely run the Perrin intake without a tune. The tune will help you to pick up additional horsepower though. Beyond the intake, the Perrin inlet will also be safe to run on stock tune or OTS tunes. • @JDMRightHandDrive

      Perrin says no tune is required. The intake diameter of the piping in the MAF tubing is the same size as stock, so it does not effect the air fuel values. Its always a good ideal to get a pro tune to maximize the power potential of these mods. But if you want to run it with stock tune, you will be just fine according to Perrin. My AFR ratios are the same, if you see the end of the video the Cobb shows my air/fuel ratios during a 2nd gear pull. My AFR values are the same in the data logs with the Perrin intake as my stock intake system.

    So what’s up with the lie “no tune” ?

      No idea. Apparently you don’t need one for this intake but I don’t plan on doing it either way because I refuse to void the factory warranty lol.

      Perrin says no tune required. But I will be getting my car retuned next week. Thanks for watching.👍

      @@vu__ exactly my point tho… I dislike a company who claims “no tune” but almost everyone who installs it and tuners say it needs it.

    Anything you do to a car you need a tune. Engine wise.

      Thanks man, tune is coming. Taking a little chance for now. Didn't want to tune my car every single week when I install a new part.
