Have been taking 1mg for 6 weeks to help w sleep. I had been prescribed high dose steroids and given a steroid injection that created a major imbalance in hormones so I only sleep 4 hours. At first .5 mg helped for a week, then hormones took over. My cortisol is also too high throughout the day probably from the lack of sleep. I don’t want to take any meds. But I’m desperate for sleep. Appreciate your thoughts.
I skipped risperidone for two days and my pulse went high suddently. Will it go away?My doctor is not saying anything. Can anyone tell me what is going on?Does it also cause insomnia?
I do not recommend this drug. I spent 4 years on it at multiple different doses, the highest being 6 mg. I was prescribed it because I was suicidal at the time over a breakup. I only stopped taking it a few weeks ago. Those 4 years were the most gruelling, most painful years of my entire life. Plagued with endless suffering. First came the tinnitus, randomly, for seemingly no reason. I was devastated and confused, but I learned to cope with it. Then my heart started pumping extremely hard, for once again, seemingly no reason. To this day It still does, day or night, It throbs my whole body. Then, arguably the worst thing, auditory hallucinations, a voice in my head would constantly say my name every second, 24 hours a day, non-stop. While I slept, these voices would engulf me, saying random phrases, screaming at me, no sensible meaning to anything said, a lot of it was sexually explicit or violence related. I was in denial for a long time, thinking maybe I was just predisposed to schizophrenia or something, but now I realized this was induced by long-term use of the drug. Now that I weaned off with the help of my doctor, the voices are quieter, my heart is calming down ever slowly, and a lot of the minor symptoms have disappeared. I just have to get through the withdrawals, which has included a lot of visual hallucinations, strange behaviour (I pace constantly and make up stories in my head) But, I am more motivated than I’ve ever been, and more happy. Though that could be a withdrawal symptom too, I am not taking it for granted. Thank you for listening.
@TheKruthix I took risperdal as well. The phyciatrist gave me pills and 1 injection. I stopped taking the medicine about 3 months ago, but now I'm dealing with withdrawal symptoms. How long after stopping the medicine, did you start feeling better?

(Sorry if I’m misspelling half of this in advance). Adderal caused a chemically induced manic/psychosis episode within my wife. We didn’t know what was going on so naturally I take her to hostpitle. She comes back on 6mg of Risperidone and 1500 mg of Depakote even though they knew her episode was chemically induce and avoidable in the future. Only instructions were to keep taking the meds or it will happen again. She progressively became more lobotomized by these horrible drugs over three months so we are now tapering her off for about four weeks now, starting with just the Risperidone and later with the Depakote. We are avoiding anything that can cause her brain to produce more dopamine during this phase since she is going to be sensitive to it. No emotional or exciting television, social media, music or movies. No favorite craving foods. Nothing that can give an extra dopamine hit like salty or sugary foods and trying to keep everything bland and calm.

Greed. I'd start with 15% cuts, because of short time span, wait a few weeks and adjust the taper based on the withdrawal symptoms. How can a 5 year old kid be diagnosed with adhd? They are not even in school at that age! (At least in my country.) There's no way you can diagnose this condition in this age, only in adults because the brain is still in development and that varies from person to person. I'd really not use any drugs prior to 20 years because of those chances in the brain, there's a reason why kids shouldn't drink alcohol, coffee or smoke cigarettes. You may support the neurodevelopment with alpha lipoic acid and omega 3, because the drug is neurotoxic, to counter the damage.

Thank you for listening.
i started on 6 mg was on it for about a year now im coming off and i experience pretty similar symptoms and weight gain

Got off last month, I was on 1mg for about a little less than a month, and when I tried to taper off to 0.5 mg I started to feel this horrible feeling in my back of throat and In my head too. I was already suffering from depersonalization and derealization and I now feel these feelings and they change and get worse and two nights ago I felt like I was floating and falling backwards and it was mild but it is so bothering. I pray that I get better every day. I don’t know what to do, I hope I don’t develop serious ugly mental Illnesses, but so far everyday I feel horrible in my head and throat and I feel like I’m floating physically at times. Please explain why this is prescribed for adhd child ( 5 years old)?
Is a 10 percent tapering advisable if ‘only’ taken 8 weeks?
