    Everyone always hates on Traditional Martial Arts, Like Karate.
    They always say MMA or Boxing is better.
    Well one thing Karate can give you that the other two don't, Is a discipline. Boxers, MMA Fighters, UFC Fighters usually give up once they feel they've gotten too old~ But with something like Karate, you can practice it your entire life.
    It can give you a lifelong strength and fitness, And the will to continue.
    What more could you ask for?

      @CanalPirataFeeling 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There's also a whole spiritual aspect about traditional martial arts. Which is nowhere to be found in competition/sport based fighting styles. And that is what makes it stand out over the rest Imho.

    • @Mr440c
      @Mr440c 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Karate is better as a martial art. The problem with it's techniques is that you can't really go outside and start killing and breaking people. The demonstrated grapling techniques work when you're willing to break people because if you go softer and slower so that it only inflicts pain the resisting opponent will break free. In reality if you apply them correctly you break your opponents joints in several places in a single moment. Numerous techniques will result in a borken neck. All of that is forbidden in sports for obvious reasons and for the same reasons you can't really practice them in full speed with a partner. The only option is a lifelong training that requires utmost discipline and commitment. That way you become a tool of destruction without really destroing anything. The spiritual aspect is to contain yourself to never fall to a desire of using your skills against people who didn't deserve it. Doing karate just for it's spiritual value is meaningless. For that there are buddhist churches and monasteries. Or any church for that matter.

      You're making excuses for karate. 99% of people who start karate QUIT! So what you're asserting isn't true. As for discipline...that can be developed via anything you enjoy doing (gardening, fly fishing, chess, etc.) It is not the sole domain of karate.

    These cars are an awesome reminder. I’m very proud I trained in Shorin Ryu then Krav Maga. I am 44 years old and never lost a 115. I was however dropped by four people twice in my life. I’ve been rubbing on point and not resist and I’m still alive. There is a time to strike. Brother thank you so much for sharing it. You rekindled a fire in my heart.

    Anyone disliking a video of a 75 year old man who has dedicated himself to something so thoroughly and maintained his health so well, is a moron. I say this as a Shorin Ryu 6th Dan who has gotten rid of traditional karate in my gym and exchanged it with MMA. Your opinions on the efficacy of his techniques show how much you have missed the point of this video.

      I've heard, shorin ryu sometimes has a bad name and there was a prompt on you tube comments that said, it's too dangerous ?? Again, my friend w/ could accidentaly put anyone in the ICU...Of course someone w/ a 3rd degree black belt, or higher, could accidentally put anyone in the ICU..Coming from a karate guy, who has less than a 1st degree black belt in isshinryu, said, he can't use some karate in a bar fight...So, compared to his less degree black belt in a inferior form of karate, compared to my friend's far superior ONLY 3rd degree black belt in shorin ru karate..More proof, shorin ryu is the most violent, overly effective karate...Just saying...God bless

      @@ninjamaster7724 oh please, MMA people have been bad mouthing their own lineage for years now. Everytime an MMA guy gets beat by a TM they scream " that's not real MMA". When a 90 year old Kung Fu master is ALIVE and performing MMA screams,"let's see him fight in the ring". Please. I have yet to see any MMA people ever say, " traditional ma holds value as there are only so many ways you can kick or punch ect. MMA has been around for over 30 years and many of the first ones are now 50 to 60 years old. I train with some and teach others traditional ma ...none of them can move anymore due to the way they worked out. What I'm saying is that every system had it's good points and bad points but don't disrespect others unless you yourself are perfect...and when an MMA guy of 75 years old can go into a ring and fight I will be impressed.

      Maybe I will. Just because someone says an opinion which doesn’t match yours doesn’t mean it’s an insult. You got to use ur brains well before heating up. Am a black belt in karate too. Hardly 1% of the dojo’s in the whole world teach you to fight. Whether u like it or not, there are far easier and efficient ways to learn to fight than karate

    • @Dac-911
      @Dac-911 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve Hermann
      Karate and similar TMAs are stance based fighting styles. In today’s world both inside the ring and outside for self defence; we have to keep moving while attacking and defending ourself. Hence it’s a movement based fighting system. Especially if your facing more than 1 opponent, blocking and striking as in karate is too slow and also lets others opponents corner you. That’s y I said it’s outdated form of fighting. Cause maybe in olden times stance based fightings were done. Today we need movement based fighters

    • @chirodocheilman
      @chirodocheilman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Dac-911 There are so many more benefits to Karate than merely body hardening techniques. The balance and weight distribution precisely trained into the student is designed to maximize every movement (strike) for maximum force and energy. Good training also develops a programmed response to defend from an attacking individual and then a counter-strike to neutralize that threat. After 6 years of training, I found a few situations where I was attacked out of nowhere into my side periphery of vision and literally my body had a well trained response to have an appropriate counter-strike which neutralized the threat in one strike - even when the attacker was significantly more muscled than me. There was no 2 - 3 minute battle - it one was specific instantaneous blow to a vulnerable strike zone and they collapsed to the floor (and it was not a groin strike).
