death of the endless is not a representation of death she is death so necron, the black flash, the black racer represent the concept of death so there like avatars of death where as death of the endless is the very concept of death and not a representation or avatar but the source. It's like a green lantern and there ring the green lantern channels the power of the ring but they themselves don't have the actual power the ring does, death of the endless is like the ring and necron, black flash, black racer are like the people who channel the power of death. I Love you Videos Rob hope this comment helped
I like how you put it. I look at it more as Nekkron is better stated as anti-life and not death. While Death represents the transition from alive to dead. She is neither good nor evil. She just is. Nekkron has motive, wants, and desires.
ComicsExplained The above explanation comes from a very, shall we say, peeved Neil Gaiman -author of Sandman and creator of the Endless. Another DC writer (can't remember the name), from a Captain Atom comic, tried to reconcile the multiple incarnations by saying that each entity embodies a different kinds of Death. _Black Racer_ is Death as Inevitability; _Death of the Endless_ is Death as Compassionate Release; _Nekron_ is Death as the Ultimate Foe. The Black Flash wasn't mentioned, but we all know that it is Death for Speedsters. Neil Gaiman then lost his #&_* in the most amusing rant about contradicting his work -If Twitter was a (popular) thing back then, it would've been trending. Basically he explained that there was "nothing much to say about her rather than she IS death. Not a representation, not a entity, not a aspect, but literally death itself. Similar to how the life entity IS life, she is death. Ironically, she is the exact opposite of what people think death would be. She as happy and friendly to all. Since she is death she is omnipresent and is virtually everywhere in the multiverse at once. Her exact power is incalculable and cannot be defined but it is without a doubt beyond that of any god or mortal [save for the Presence, Lucifer Morning Star, and (possibly) Michael Demiurgos - my words not his]." (All paraphrased btw). So all others are merely Avatars of her power in Gaiman's eyes. No writer has ever bothered arguing with him ever since.
You should make a video about Jonah Hex, his former Black Lantern status and why he is not one due to time travel. The only movie about him covered nothing save for a backstory about his looks and the fact that he has a way to talk to the dead and dying.
Death of the endless isn't an embodiment of death but she is death. Nekron is the death aspect of the emotional spectrum so he's an embodiment of death like "the black racer" is death for the new gods and is also an embodiment of death. The stories about Nekron never says that he is death only an embodiment while the stories about death of the endless says that she is the concept of death or some anthropomorphic version of death. That's just my theory
Cody Hall He has a relaxing voice and he is very good at telling a story. I don't read comic books but I like comic book stuff and it's like listening to a comic book audio tape I enjoy these videos as stories.
The best thing that ever happened to Swamp Thing was the Injustice games (and probably Justice League Dark now that I think about it). Before that, nobody knew who or what "Swamp Thing" was.
cool story bro;) I like how you explained this..It gave me a better sense of relate-ability with kyle rayor and the emotional spectrum! I mean all that in all seriousness, though I am stoked for you to get back to non thor/lantern stories/batman. Please! More Spidey, deadpool, xmen, etc. Dont get me wrong Rob, I have love for all you do!
There is actually an explanation for Necron vs Death of the Endless actually exists. It is in a really neat Brightest Day tie in called "Superman: the Black Ring" it kinda helps set up the idea of Lex Luthor as a hero
This is as exciting as that time Rob came into my room, slapped me across the face, said "No one will believe you", and then backflipped out the window.
I don't believe it. What he would actually have said was: "No one will believe you. (slap) With THAT being said guys, I'm going to bring this to an end, if you are NEW here...."
I feel like its more similar to how Sandman Overture explains the different aspects of Dream of the Endless, where all the different aspects consider themselves one being, but different points of views of it, but ultimately they are all one entity operating in different realities.
Hey, Rob! Just saw The New Super-Man blowing up on reddit due to a great candid pic of a cosplayer dressed as the character with an Asian boy walking up to him (it would appear to me with interest!). A lot of people are there saying good stuff about the character, so I'd be interest in a couple of videos on him! Keep rocking, Rob!
Got a few videos without that weird jarring black screen pause before it started happening again? Anyways this was otherwise a great video! Man an event hasn't had this good of a crescendo since then, it was really intense! This whole series makes me really want a origin of Guy Gardner video though, I really don't know much about him at all.
Hey rob. Not sure if you’ve had this before but how about a Star Wars/Lantern Ring cross over. Which Star Wars characters would get which rings? My initial thoughts were:Green - Han SoloBlue - Luke SkywalkerYellow - EmperorRed - Darth VaderOrange - Jubba the HuttIndigo - yoda Pink - LeiaBlack - Death StarWhite - obiwanThoughts?
He’s not angry tho He has one mission Kill superman He isn’t angry If he kills him it wouldn’t make him happy He’s like an emotionless machine All he cares about is his mission And he doesn’t feel a thing
Jaded Jv, it's not a mission like "here go get some beer", it's in his nature to hate Kryptonians that's why he hones in on Superman and only Superman once he see's him. Doomsday has emotion but it is mainly hate. From Doomsday wiki page. Doomsday is depicted as a deadly monster genetically-engineered from the depths of pre-historic Krypton. His creator imbued him with few feelings, mostly hate and destruction, which led to him destroying worlds and eventually finding Earth where he meets Superman.
holly cow Rob! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was for this video! I think your exeplaination blackest night is your best work yet! would you consider having your editor turn it in to one long video like you have for civil war? I know that sounds like a daunting task but man if I have one beef with your channel it is that I have to hunt and hunt for the videos of yours I want to see again and I don't want this to be one of those. thanks to you I have silver surfer requiem on order. and man I never really got down on superior Spiderman or any Spiderman for that matter until you turned me on to it! now those videos are hard to find. So please let beautiful playlists such as this one shine. also batman the merciless.. just saying it might be worth a look see.
I would argue that the difference between Death of the Endless and Necron is similar to the difference between Marvel's cosmic entities which can represent any and every aspect like death but still be involved with the universe, multiverse, and all known existence (Death of the Endless), and the Beyonders that represent a kind of non-existence beyond the universe, multiverse, all known creation, a darkness that lies beyond all this (Necron).
@Comics Explained could you do videos on who could use the power stone and/or the infinity gauntlet. I think it would be awesome to see who could use that much power besides Thanos it would be so cool to see all the DC and marvel charters who could handle so much power thank you
Rob, I gotta say I freakin love your videos man. I know you are literally a comics guy, but I would be really interested to hear you talk about My Hero Academia, since it is inspired by Western superhero comics. Have you ever considered reading the manga?
I have a question. It's pretty well known that Geoff Johns' GL run was, for the most part, left intact after the start of the New 52, including the Blackest Night. It's even referenced in one of the New 52 GL story arcs. We are told that the Anti-Monitor plays an important role in Black Night. My question is, why don't the heroes remember that they've dealt with the Anti-Monitor before during Darkseid War?
Nekron is not really the Entity of Death, he is the Entity of Nothing. The universe was at first nothing but darkness, then white light entered it, and the universe was only white light. Then the darkness fought back, and split the light into red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Making the universe into nothing and light, life and death.
Avada Flores If you read the origin of the Universe as as Indigo 1 says Blackest Night issue 3, “In the beginning the universe belonged to darkness- and then there was light. For seven hundred years, was nothing but blinding white light. Then the darkness fought back and the white light was splintered. Every sentient being born from the light now contributes to its emotional spectrum. Our state of being adds to its respective light. And it can be collected and condensed into power...,information about the different corps..... Today the darkness fights back again. It’s begun an assault on the Corps.” So really Nekron was not about death, but bringing the universe back to what it was before the light came, nothing.
In Sandman Vol.4, it is discussed that Dream is an aspect of Dream, and he would succeed himself, as a new aspect of Dream, should he die. Furthermore, Dream is introduced with several individuals who hold pieces of himself inside them, and Dream has even imbued objects with parts of himself. On top of this, every part of the Dreaming, including the creatures in it, are made of Dream, and are therefore parts of his whole. Death functions the same way. The Black Racer, Nekron, and whoever else embodies death are simply aspects of a greater whole. That greater whole is represented in its entirety by the singular aspect, Death of the Endless. Given the implication that the Endless can die, and given the very real threat Lucifer makes toward Death, it can be surmised Death can die... but a new aspect would replace her, and as the entirety of death, it would ultimately still be her; just a bit different, as with Dream. The Black Racer seems like a specific aspect of Death, associated with speedsters. Nekron is the specific aspect of death associated with the emotional electromagnetic spectrum. Death of the Endless is both of these, and so much more, represented in whole.
About the "Death thing," there's usually 2 ways it goes in fiction like this... One, there's a high entity or concept that is the thing itself. Death, Life, Creation, Destruction... and that "Force" creates different aspects of itself for different cultures and reasons. Therefore in the DC universe, there's "Death" as a force, but it takes the form of a goth girl in the Endless, the Black Racer, Nekron, etc. Two, Death is again a Force, but creates different "agents" to work on its behalf. Meaning Death in the Endless and Nekron are both different entities with entirely different consciousnesses and wills. Honestly, though, I'm of the mind neither of these hold true for the DC universe though. I don't think I've ever seen *proven* high-concept forces without a doubt in the DC universe. For example, in Marvel, we have seen such things (Death, Eternity) and their actual effects on their portfolios. We've seen Death "flee" and thus, as a result, *no one could die.* I could be wrong, but we've never seen such things in the DC universe and have no proof that these entities claim to be is necessarily true. Another reason is simply put, these entities should be all-powerful and necessary forces in their own spheres and portfolios with necessary motivations, yet are routinely defeated. Frankly, if "Death" (the big D) wants you dead, you die. Why did Nekron fail? Why did he need to exist? Was there some bunch of Green Lanterns that were leading unnaturally long lives? Why does the Black Racer exist? Were speedsters thwarting the natural death of millions with their powers? No? This is why I don't think any of these beings are actually "Death" or Death's agents or aspects. I think Death of the Endless is merely just the equivalent of an old god. A personification of early man's superstitions given form through thought. A very powerful singular entity for certain, but not a pervasive force or high concept entity. Nekron and the Black Racer though seem more like pretenders to the throne. Beings from elsewhere who were probably mortal once and certainly have power, but definitely not the avatar of universal function they're feared to be. But yeah, we all know it all comes down to poor writing and not hashing out the rules of your setting and doing things "just because they sound cool at the time" rather than thinking it out.
Death of the Endless IS Death. Not a concept or aspect. Humans can perceive only aspects of the Endless themselves, but avatars or embodiments of the effects are totally different.
I'm sorry you were getting burned out, but it was a wild ride man. I want to see more of the individuals who got their own rings from the corp leaders. Red Lantern MERA! Do a run down on them or something. When's the last time you did a run down?
honestly, I think is basically that necron is basically the lack of emotion and making it death is a bit more interesting and probably them taking creative liberty with the concept, and a corpse doesn't really feel anything so kinda makes sense
I love these videos, but I’m curious: has anyone tried playing a drinking game where you have to drink every time Rob says “the idea is...”? I’m pretty sure you’d black out within the span of three videos, but I’m very curious to try.
Hmm... what would the entity of the Rob Corps be? The Grey Light of Curiosity... I feel like Rob is our equivalent of a Guardian, but I don't see what the entity would be...
death of the endless is not a representation of death she is death so necron, the black flash, the black racer represent the concept of death so there like avatars of death where as death of the endless is the very concept of death and not a representation or avatar but the source. It's like a green lantern and there ring the green lantern channels the power of the ring but they themselves don't have the actual power the ring does, death of the endless is like the ring and necron, black flash, black racer are like the people who channel the power of death. I Love you Videos Rob hope this comment helped
I always felt the same way but Sandman #48 explains the endless as embodiments of concepts. Either way, this is a good way to look at it.
oh i missed a few issues thanks for clarifying also thanks for replying
ComicsExplained Rob or you going to do Omega beyond omega level the Spectre? And if so can you please do your best to make the video be a little long?
I like how you put it. I look at it more as Nekkron is better stated as anti-life and not death. While Death represents the transition from alive to dead. She is neither good nor evil. She just is. Nekkron has motive, wants, and desires.

15:06 Huh, if I didn't know any better, I would think that's Captain America lol
Their white lantern suits were awesome
Revanat Adam/ Mortal Kombat kontestant Must be a pain in the ass keeping them white as snow
You should make a video about Jonah Hex, his former Black Lantern status and why he is not one due to time travel. The only movie about him covered nothing save for a backstory about his looks and the fact that he has a way to talk to the dead and dying.
Amazing story coverage, it's been a great experience, thank you 🙏🏾

That's just my theory

I am excited for Brightest Day! Swamp Thing needs more time in the limelight.
well he's green and when a light shines on him doesn't that mean it's a limelight???
darthXreven Yes. Yes it is
darthXreven I already said yes, but does that mean green lanterns and martian manhunter can only be in the limelight? What about the hulk?
The best thing that ever happened to Swamp Thing was the Injustice games (and probably Justice League Dark now that I think about it). Before that, nobody knew who or what "Swamp Thing" was.
Adam Duggar hell yeah! swamp thing rocks!
That death scene of Kyle's girlfriend hurt my heart.

I really love your page man. Congrats on everything bro #RobCore
This is as exciting as that time Rob came into my room, slapped me across the face, said "No one will believe you", and then backflipped out the window.
No one believes you, though.
I don't believe it. What he would actually have said was: "No one will believe you. (slap) With THAT being said guys, I'm going to bring this to an end, if you are NEW here...."
I don't trust like that
Faust explain death pretty well Rob, death of the endless is death itself, necron and the black racer are just representations of death
I feel like its more similar to how Sandman Overture explains the different aspects of Dream of the Endless, where all the different aspects consider themselves one being, but different points of views of it, but ultimately they are all one entity operating in different realities.

An amazing series, Great coverage, Happy Halloween!

I WAS WAITING FOR THIS!!!
I feel like Death of the Endless serves a different function than Nekron. He's a malevolent reaper whilst death is more the ferryman.
Can you do please do Brightest Day, you kind of got me hooked in the end.
Doomsday gets a red lantern ring BOOM
Doomsday with adamantium skeleton.
Ok, on the lines of this, what if Hulk got a red lantern ring?
He’s not angry tho
He has one mission
Kill superman
He isn’t angry
If he kills him it wouldn’t make him happy
He’s like an emotionless machine
All he cares about is his mission
And he doesn’t feel a thing

Happy Halloween Rob Corps!!!
Yay I loved every vid rob!!!
Hawk and Dove came out during the 60's. It was DC's way of cashing in on the counter-culture of the time.
David Reiter I like this idea, could you tell me more?
David Reiter I got it now, thanks for explaining :D
David Reiter so he is nihlism the person
Only problem I have is that there is already a set idea of hw the universe came into existence
Well, Nekron is, as you said the LIVING embodiment of death. Death of the Endless IS death.
A little bit of a stumble at the outdo there but hey nice summarization overall dude thanks
My Favorite Lantern Corps: Black, Red, Yellow, & White.
I can't wait until War of The Green Lantern Corps! Guy Gardner is so f*cking cool in that story!
Nice vid dude
But yeah, we all know it all comes down to poor writing and not hashing out the rules of your setting and doing things "just because they sound cool at the time" rather than thinking it out.
Larry Wolf If you read vertigo, you’ll see that death is litterally the end of all things, death of the endless is this idea in its ultimate form.
Happy Halloween Rob
Wow what an epic run!
Happy Halloween Rob Corps!
Death of the Endless IS Death. Not a concept or aspect.
Humans can perceive only aspects of the Endless themselves, but avatars or embodiments of the effects are totally different.
Necron is the "embodiment" of death, the endless death she is death, necron is the embodiment of her. Well one half of her, she life too
Happy Halloween rob!!!
Red lantern, Green latern, Blue lantern, Yellow, Violet... by your power combined I AM CAPTAIN PLANET!
Would love to see you do the story of when black adam started world war 3
The emotional entities are DCs versions of the Tailed Beasts. Change my mind.
Voil Velev no
I'm sorry you were getting burned out, but it was a wild ride man.
Could you cover brightest day ?
I love these videos, but I’m curious: has anyone tried playing a drinking game where you have to drink every time Rob says “the idea is...”? I’m pretty sure you’d black out within the span of three videos, but I’m very curious to try.
Thanks Bobby
Hmm... what would the entity of the Rob Corps be? The Grey Light of Curiosity...
I feel like Rob is our equivalent of a Guardian, but I don't see what the entity would be...
Nate TSO an owl
Cover Dark Knights Metal: Batman the Merciless, it teases, takes from the justice league TV Show, and darkens its horizons to an extent...
Could you post complete stories into like a Spotify podcast that would be amazing
I think it's was in one of captain atom comic that stated that death of the endless is death and all others are just aspects of her.
Black Lantern Justice League? OH CRAP!!!
White Lantern Justice League? HECK YES!!!!
what's the deal with that thing with like kyle surrounded by the body of major force?
Great vid and series. Blackest Night and Brightest Day are both good. I just have to ask, how is Deadman alive? He's Deadman still, right?
We love you rob thank you
