    This is the stuff of DREAMS for me! GREAT JOB! You inspire me to think, if you can do it, maybe I really can do it. I have 14 bikes, but shockingly have VERY LITTLE wrenching experience. For almost 44 years of owning bikes, other than oil changes, air filters, chains, and a couple two stroke top ends that I’ve done with beginner’s luck, my bikes have always been dealer/shop supported. Of my 14 bikes, 8 of them are hopeful restoration projects from old 4-stroke street bikes, to 2-stroke dirt bikes like this one. My dream is to learn how to do this and simultaneously teach my autistic son these new life skills. Keep doing what you’re doing! 😊😊😊

    Why ....... why....... wouldn’t you just use the new throttle cable fella 😱

    • @GoldGuyRides
      @GoldGuyRides  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah I realize that I could have just used it, but it was a LOT longer than the original one was, so there would have been way too much extra cable

    • @boone7075
      @boone7075 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      GoldGuy
      I wonder if you can shorten the new cable to make it work and solder the end of the cable with solder in the way it needs to be rather than welding some bird shit on the end of it .
      Bet that would work just fine 😎

    • @jasonhudson5861
      @jasonhudson5861 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      boone7075 I wish I’ve tried shorting throttle cables at least three times and end up messing up the lead thing at the end or messing up the cable it’s self

    Hey man, make sure that the two-cycle oil you put in the tank is one that is designed for oil pumps, rather than normal two-cycle. The manual says to use outboard engine oil if you can find one that specifies that it's safe.

    I had a bike just like this one, a year different though and I don't remember the exact year. It was given to me by my Uncle. I was about 12 years old, all I dreamed of was getting a motorcycle. One of the greatest days of my life. That bike led to a DS185, I believe and then a PE250. I bought a three wheeler and a few four wheelers, but the motorcycles are my favorite. Great videos, keep making them and I'll keep watching and giving 👍!

    My dad has a beat up ‘75 Honda xr75 that is really similar to yours except it’s a 4 stroke, I’m thinking of buying it off of him, I think all it needs is some carb work, maybe a spark plug, and perhaps some work on the gas tank because the inside is a bit rusty, other than that just needs some grips and a seat as far as I can tell.

    I just got my two stroke going again for the first time in a few years in the last few days too! It's a great feeling to hear it fire up after all the blood sweat and tears! I'd seriously consider a compression test and top end rebuild though. The rings may not seal so good if it's sat and no telling what condition the cylinder is in. A machine shop can just give it a hone for around40 bucks to make sure the cylidner walls are straight and cross hatched, and top end gaskets are cheap, rings can be expensive sometimes but it's better to have a clean slate than put excessive wear on the cylinder already. Good thinking on running mixed gas incase the pump wasnt working! What ratio are you using?

    It looked like you didn't set the oil pump you put the filter on before you atached the pump cable, on the back of the throttle slide is a small round drilling a dent, it should be just touchng the top of the hole of the carb and the lines on the oil pump should be aligned , it shoud stop it smoking so much ;) you did well to get that running again ;)

    whats that "two stroke oil mix tank" does?

    • @jordanprato151
      @jordanprato151 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Two strokes because of how they run, need lubrication in the top end. So it needs a specific two stroke oil through injectors (a pump running from a second tank that squirts into the engine) or directly mixing in the gas tank.

    • @SeamTressGaming
      @SeamTressGaming 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jordanprato151 So, if i had the tank topped up, does it require a premix?

    • @jordanprato151
      @jordanprato151 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SeamTressGaming no AS LONG as the two stroke pump works! If it is not new or you or you are not sure, premix the main gas tank and look at the pump. The two stroke lines that go into the engine are always clear and you can see if oil is moving along.
      Some manuals for bikes will even have a way to test it by unplugging the oil line and measuring its output. It would say "pump should produce _____ when at Y rpms for X amount of time.
