- As our golden estate car continues across the waste land we come across a ship somehow in the middle of the road, and i learn just how difficult it is to fly.

Nothing freaks you out in TLD more than when you touch something in your car and the game does a physics-freeze and you are just WAITING for the resulting explosion.
Psychotic physicas has ruined several of my saves. For awhile there last week I kept loading into a bus which was in a constant state of freefall. That is until the character died.

I've had about 3 to 4 ships block the roads in my save. Free real estate, right there.
Also, big tip: the compass thing is incredibly useful for exploring places of interest very far from the road. You mount it in the dashboard, properly aligning the north upwards, then you point the vehicle towards the place of interest, and with the little thingy you spin the double arrows in the opposite direction of where the needle is pointing. That way you can really go out of your way to explore stuff, then return by following the double arrows & safely come back to where you were before, so you can keep your progress. I do it quite a lot, and can always find my way back, even when the roads are out of render distance.

I doubt there's much logic to the backstory of TLD's apocalypse, seeing as there are killer rabbits and flying brooms, but I'd have to assume the tanker ships have either been blown out of the water by an atomic explosion or something that would have equally tossed them into the middle of dry land like a massive tornado. You'll probably just drive yourself mad trying to consider it.
Or there was a huge flood/tsunami maybe?

My dogs must watch this series when I leave my phone unattended. They have recently become terrified of the rabbits that live behind my house and will not set foot in the grass after dark. This makes things difficult now that it is dark by 6:00pm.
You absolutely can die falling off the Broom. I found my first Broom and launched out of the Well like a damn Missile from a Silo. Then death happened.

If you want to drive a UFO, it might be worth waiting on the deck of that boat. I’m not sure how it works but I know that a boat on the road is incredibly rare and pretty much a requirement for getting a UFO

Hey Alex, the one thing that I have noticed, is the ship will spawn in drums of gas, oil, alcohol, and, on occasion, blood, as well as mixtures of the mentioned liquids, but it doesn't spawn in drums of water. Which makes sense, since the game has two variants of water towers.
Edit: I believe the world experienced apocalyptic floods from all the icecaps melting, which drifted the ships onto land and when the water levels started decreasing, the ships were beached where ever they were and some happen to be beached on the roads. Just my theory.
if it was a flood,wouldn't explain much why some buildings survive almost intact,if they made them a tad bit destroyed,like walls missing or broken,or even remaining of cities,like buildings,etc.
actually,adding remaining of buildings either as a scenery or places to loot would be cool to see

Sometimes, a car will spawn when you approach the watchtowers, too.
LOL never noticed the headlight is missing... I love these vids, this game is magical levels of jank lol! And wasn't it Hammond's Sprint that had the radio fall out going over the cobbles? I know he had some form of radio related weirdness at least. :P

IIRC Hammond did have the radio fall out going over the cobbles, and either the speedometer or the rev-counter fall out of the Dolomite's dashboard, when the car was filled up with water. And how the hell did May's piece of cheese, I mean Princess, win the whole thing? Though I did LMAO at the back doors falling off Clarkson's Rover X-D

You should store spare fuel in Jerry cans. They take up a lot less space than barrels, hold 20L, which is plenty, and you had a couple of empty ones already.
Yeah that diesel barrel has more air in it than the diesel and it takes a lot of space in the car.
Just got this game, and my newest seed STARTED ME with a truck! They're really good, especially with the back storage, although it overheats quickly.
At here without backseat you could MOT and register your Lada as a van and have less taxes to pay for it.

Could always use the Alcohol and water to make your very own antifreeze in the game. I was doing that in the beginning of some of my play throughs as I was having a hard time finding water. I wouldn't do go above a 20/80 mix though 20% Alcohol and 80% Water because when you start hoarding more things the weight does play a factor in how hot your engine runs. Either way always enjoy the content so thank you for all the great entertainment.
I had a pickup truck and I carried 6 barrels with 70 liters of diesel, a bus tire on the back, a bus tire on the roof, a bus tire on the hood, and a barrel with 70 liters of oil in the front seat. Found a big truck after 300 kilometers.

I usually mount my compass in the center of the steering wheel, that way it's near enough for me to see clearly while still being able to see where I'm going without the sun blinding me. Also it doesn't seem to react and spin with the steering wheel, instead it stays put and aligned to where I'm aiming. The new VW Golfalike pickup is kinda fun, but you can't load much mass in the bed due to spongey suspension.
The way to use the compass is set it in a place you can clearly see the dial, when you head off-road turn the dial so the set arrow is in the opposite direction of the directional arrow, ie. direction arrow inside set arrow but backwards, so you can just follow the arrow back to road.
Those boats on the road are quite coveted for UFOs getting stuck on them.

*2 tips within: mixed fuel and broom control, and a "help I've fallen down a well" climb out method*
Finding a barrel that has mixes including fuel are not necessarily a toss. Since you found 17L of pure diesel you can add that into the mix and improve the % of diesel. One method if you really need the fuel is to put mixed into pure. I think some mixtures can allow for nearly as low as 70% diesel to run the engines. i think gas and booze mixed. Once you have a large fuel tank these mixed rates become alot easier to manage.
As for brooms, look out forward as straight as you can, you want to look above the handle and straight.then (hold Q) and look down to grab the handle (F) let go of Q and you are now holding the broom while looking forward, then scroll wheel forward will cause you to fly in that look direction. Tilt is not a thing, and after you scroll out enough (no gauge unfortunately) your hands will let go, and you will drop, however fall dmg seems to not count with the broom.
Also wells and walls can be climbed, it's a weird bug when walking into a wall, and spamming Ctrl & spacebar back and forth. If down right you'll fly up the wall. Wells work the best. (In wells sometimes you can let go of W and just spam while looking up and once you launch up quickly hold W to land outside the well.
An empty broom takes 25 scroll wheel notches to go to full speed. 20 scroll wheel notches if you attached some stuff to the broom, like a basket and fuel.

There's a photo of the two types of golf engines on the swapping engines page of the TLD fan wiki. The pickup will usually spawn with the diesel engine though.

The Ute is pretty good. Its stock Diesel engine is very economical, if not super fast, the Caddy petrol engine makes the Ute extremely fast. Also ute has a Speedo that goes up to 220.
Main problem with it is the lack of a towing ball, so you can't ever have a trailer.
FYI the sunglasses have a setting to make them work, and by default it is on but only post-patch. So by default, for you, it’s off. With the setting on it will work properly (for better or worse, not everyone will want it on, hence the option)

Pick up broom, look forward, press tab, click, and you're off in a straighter direction at a reasonable speed.
I think the part in the middle where the grass and everything on the ground got dark but the sky was still bright blue like daytime was an eclipse by I'm not sure. I don't know if those are in the game or not but I wouldn't be suprised if they are and it does work as a decent explanation as to what was going on with the lighting there.

Noticed at the end of the video you are missing the drivers side headlight
It looks to me like you broke your driver's side headlight in that crash you had because at night you really cant see anything.
Perhaps you can attach the work lights to the roof or bumper like a rally car.
Flying is pretty easy once you do it for five minutes or so and just realize that you are flying just 90° to what would be normal. Just think of your feet as the direction of travel, simple. Scroll wheel to speed up and slow down.

I honestly *hate* the P&P mechanics. it just makes the whole thing raunchy and overall uncomfortable and revolting. There's a certain point where you get too much realism in games. Shit like this is one of them.
