If you need to redo the gasket on the trans pan because it’s leaking you have to take half the engine apart to get it off because of course it isn’t on the bottom it’s up against the front of the car 😂 Thanks Volvo. Great video as always.
Great video, thank you very much. I just pulled the left front axle, and while there,8 would like to change the transmission. I was going to use a blaster as in many videos, but was not happy with that procedure. Thanks again for this video, it is the way I will be doing this change.
You forgot to change gears to get rid of even more old oil. I recently changed the ATF in the XC60 and each gear change got rid of a large amount of old oil.
To remove oil cooler hose, you have to pull the TABS UP. Do not squeeze the tabs in, as it only makes it tighter & prevents removal. Here's a video on how to remove the hose on a Mercedes with the same style connector. th-cam.com/video/-IGrSMAsgRw/w-d-xo.html I flushed the Auto on my v50 last year. The differences I had were as follows... 1: Only 2 liters came out of the sump instead of 4 liters. 2: I ran thru the gears whilst flushing out from the oil cooler to remove more dirty fluid. 3: I did fluid level check on flat ground without ramps. I removed ECM cover & removed the wiring harness clamps above the dipstick & used cable ties to temporary hold back the wiring harness to allow easy dipstick access from above. I also wore gloves and long-sleeved shirt to prevent getting burned whilst pulling out dipstick. 4: Note = 200ml difference between Hot Min and Max mark or 50ml per notch. 5: After you have done a full Auto flush you can do a quick 1 time only Auto Sump Drain & Fill (about 2 liters) about every 30000km. Just do this at the same time when changing the engine oil as its cheap and easy. A full auto flush is recommended every 60000km
You don't need to reset the gearbox counter. This gearbox will learn to change gears itself and adapt to the conditions/oil in which it works. I know this from experience and it is confirmed by a service that repairs automatic gearboxes. In My gearbox has had its atf changed 6 times and has never been reset. The gearbox has always worked properly. It is important to change the oil.
This is, and will always be completely untrue. There’s no such thing as a fluid that lasts forever. For private passenger vehicles the fluid usually lasts at least until the car is out of warranty, and after that it doesn’t matter to the manufacturer. But there’s a reason taxis and emergency vehicles have trans fluid service in the maintenance program, because in such conditions the transmissions would likely go out very early if not serviced
Another brilliant video, Yuri. Ive searched numerous times for this service and the few videos I found were not good. Your video solves this issue and will be the 'go to video' for C30 owners, like me. Just a couple of questions: Is it absolutely necessary to have the engine idling when checking the dipstick level with hot fluid? The blue tabs on the cooled transmission fluid return line are they squeezed in or squeezed and pushed down or do they slide upwards without squeezing? I've a TopDon artidiag pro that can reset the fluid life counter 🙂. Thank you, Andrew
Hey! Engine must idle while charging oil. One guy here said the blue tabs need to be pushed and squeezed downward to release the hose. It was very hard still.
Hello best Volvo technician in Canada. What a great videos you make on Volvo cars. Great thank you. I managed to replace the lock door acc to your video on my xc70 2016. 👍👍. Have you done transmission oil change on your Volvo xc70? If yes can you link the video please? Does Vìda Dice works on Volvo XC70 from 2014 to 2016 year modell?
Great Video! So at last you filled with a bit more than 4 liters? in some guides tells that the capacity of the pan is 4 quarts wich is 3.8 liters, and in some forums about AW55-50 talks about 3.5 liters when drain and fill in models like v70, s60... Maybe the box was overfilled initially? Thanks!!
Hello, please if you can give me some information. I have a 2012 S60 d3. One morning it wouldn't start. I took it to the mechanic and he changed the diesel pump in the tank and the diesel filter. After 2 months the same problem. It didn't start again. Please have any idea why that would be. Many thanks
Ive been looking into my 2004 volvo v70 d5 se automatic gearbox. You have to reset the ATF counter in vida dice diagnostics or there is no point doing it the gearbox still thinks its running on old ATF. a lot of the time unclean ATF is due to not having the correct amount of coolant in and the right one or your ATF will get too hot.
I know this is unrelated to this video but I’ve been wondering how to purchase flat unlimited from vdash for my car and does that allow for all configuration in the price including tune or do I understand it wrong
Would it be a good idea to change the transmission fluid on my 2010 Volvo S40 R design 2.5 only 74k miles I’ve had no issues with the car I just wanna take good care of it should I go ahead and change it for preventative maintenance?
@@volvosweden Thank you so much I really do like my Volvo S40 I wanna make the car last a long time it I change the oil every 3000 miles too and I haven’t done the transmission and was just wondering thank you so much! 😊
Thanks!
Thx so much!🫶

Thanks for the video..really the best and clear ATF change that i have seen so far.
I did some search before performing this and found none proper videos. Thx!!!!
Glad to see a new vid it's been a while.

Love your videos. Always a pleasure to watch 👍👍
This is a complete video, thank you for making it. I think my S40's auto-transmission oil is good for a change.
You forgot to change gears to get rid of even more old oil. I recently changed the ATF in the XC60 and each gear change got rid of a large amount of old oil.
This was performed following Volvo instructions. Good enough in my opinion. Next will be in 60,000km
Aisin is sister brand from Toyota. Very good quality. 💪

so why do they have that option then
I have heard or read it needs to be reset. You have to tell the computer it has new fluid.
Сразу лайк -потом просмотр ,тут без вариантов всё будет хорошо сделано 🫡👍
I was under the impression that trans fluid is life time in my Volvo.
Life time oil does not exist.
That’s what they say. But also say if the Cari’s used as taxi or tow fluid must be replaced .
This is, and will always be completely untrue. There’s no such thing as a fluid that lasts forever. Lifetime fluid until warranty runs out, that's what it means.
Life time means 50 thousand miles. Drain and fill, never flush.
Top... Parabéns...
Vai me ajudar muito na troca do oleo do meu S40.
Tks!!!

Why didnt you have the car at level when you did the transmission flush also?
You don’t have to.
He got it level when checking the fluid level. That's what matters.

Yes. Do it. Oil is cheap. Transmission is not. There is no such thing as lifetime fluid.

@@volvosweden he said in one of his latest videos. Since it's impossible to flush everything out. He doesn't 'flush' anything.

Yes. I did in the video
