2024 Buick Envista Avenir Review: High Heel of Subcompact Crossovers

- The 2024 Buick Envista replaces the Encore as the brand's smallest crossover, and where the Encore looked gawky and awkward the #Envista looks sleek and stylish! It's a bit like a stiletto, though, in that it's not great for going very fast or very far off-pavement; nor is it great if you want to carry a lot of things. But with a price starting at just $23,495... does it matter?

I love that you kept the heals on for the entirety of the video.
Continuity! Glad you enjoyed ☺️
First time viewer. I just subscribed. The new Envista is sharp looking, I received my April 2024 Best & Worst cars, trucks, suv Consumer Reports mag. The 2021-23 larger 1.3L 3cyl turbo rated in Encore GX is rated Above Average by readers. A 6sp Auto was a good choice by GM vs the common CVT used by competitors in small car/suv models.. I also agree the larger 1.3L might provide better fuel economy or simpler 4cyl without turbo. I Think GM-Korea Buick Division missed an opportunity to give the option on ST or Avenir trims (the did with Encore GX) to pay a little more for the 1.3L turbo. Thanks for reviewing and put some ice on those ankles if sore. 🙂
The heels! 💯
Correct regarding the 6-speed automatic being used to keep cost down, but I wonder if they'll ever drop that in favor of the CVT, which is an in-house design, that is found in the FWD versions of the Trailblazer/Encore GX. I can already hear the groans, but in driving a GX with 1.3L and the CVT, it honestly works well together. I like the fact that it doesn't fake shift unless you're fully sending it. If i'm on the freeway and I need to speed up an extra 5-10 mph, it doesn't take much throttle input and keeps you in the torque curve. Also don't notice any droning, but i'm sure that's thanks to the QuietTuning with active noice cancellation.
It honestly might be a better pairing vs the 6AT if you're looking to stay in the power band or pass at highway speeds! Interesting to think about for sure.
I just can’t get behind that powertrain in something billed as a premium offering. It might feel punchy if you’re 75 years old and just want to get to the yacht club by noon, but anything more pressing and it’ll probably feel labored. MT says it does 0-60 in 9.4. For reference a 2000 Ford Focus was reviewed back then doing the same in 9.3.
Replacing the Encore makes sense. The lil Buick eggmobile warranted a nicer upgrade, and the Avenir interior is quite nice.
All Avenir models should have dual climate controls, power passenger seat, rear vents, soft rear door materials, and sliding sun shades. In Asia, you get dual screen instrument panels, 360 degree cameras, and more. In America, "Avenir" means little.
Omg I love how you dress according to the car 🤣🤣🤣 I just watch the Tacoma review as well and you were looking like a country boy. Love it!
Gotta give the people what they (didn't know they) want! 😉
Trying to decide who has cuter legs, Jake in heels or Sarah-in-Tune. Need a pose off 🤣.
I'm here for it if she is. Boots the house DOWN mama
I really like this car. Beautiful color too. Thanks for the review.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!
Going to be an upgrade from the Sentra at the airport rental counter.
I'm trying to understand; why a red sweater?
I… went to my closet, and I selected… I don’t know, that lumpy red sweater, for instance, because I'm trying to tell the world that I take myself too seriously to care about what I put on my back, but what I didn't know at the time is that that sweater is not just red, it’s not crimson, it’s not burgundy, it’s actually scarlet.
I was also blithely unaware of the fact that, in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of scarlet gowns, and then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent, wasn’t it?… who showed scarlet military jackets. I think we need a jacket here.
And then scarlet quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some TJMaxx where I, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin.
I just traded in my 22 Encore GX for a Red Avenir model for the 31,285. There is a lot to to like about this car for the money absolutely. I'm just going to say this though if you want something that has a more SUV feel than a car this isn't it. I absolutely feel like I went back to a car, and that is probably the thing I dislike about it the most. That and for an Avenir there should have been better Stereo choice, and at least the driver window should have express up & down, not just down.
It definitely feels more car-like which is (to us) a good thing! Agreed on both points with sound system and express-up on the window.
@@OutMotorsports I miss my ride height that's all, I do feel like over the nxt few I will forget that and adjust, or at least I hope LOL
As much as I want dismiss GM for making this and the Trax FWD only, it makes sense. If you live somewhere that doesn’t snow, but you still want the cargo capacity of an SUV, the ease of ingress/egress of an SUV, but still being efficient, then the general has a car for you, erm I mean SUV.
Plus, offering this in only FWD keeps the cost down. Those wanting AWD can always step up to the Encore GX/Trailblazer. Besides, they say a FWD car with good tires can be almost as good as an AWD car.
Even if you do live in the frozen north, just invest in a set of winters or all weathers and it’ll be fine. My FWD Outlander Sport rocks in the winter on Blizzaks.
House of Heel Toe 💅 👠
Yes mama sweaters and glitter to the GAWDS
1 mpg less on the highway than my 2.0t Accord. 😞
Can be factual but not a valid comparison. Sedans are able to get better economy than crossovers since they're lower to the ground and more aerodynamic.
I tried to take you seriously in those heels but I can’t…
They need to be taller
And the sweater? Should be more red.
RuPaul called and she wants her heels back! 🤣 My neighbor just bought two Trax (yes, two). I'm sorry, but 3-cylinder engines will have all kinds of hurt in a couple of years. I'm sticking to Toyota for real quality and reliability. I did enjoy your review. Only proved my point that GM makes crap. We USED to drive Buick Regals until they went hatchback and then went Honda and now Toyota. I still think the Camry is the best sedan on the market, that isn't a BMW.
Not sure why he says it's not good for road trips. My wife and I drive from NJ to Montreal in a Miata with no issues. Shaking my head.
It's fine for road trips but not nearly as composed/refined as something with 1) more power 2) longer wheelbase 3) better seats. If your standard is a NA Miata then this'll feel like a limo.
Mmmmmmmmmm?
that powertrain is garbage
