Really wish Daeron the Daring and Tessarrion the Blue Queen were in this. Maybe even seeing an old Archmaester Vaegon would be a treat. Oh well.
Oh jeez, watching with your parents is such a mood. I'm gonna be watching, doing my best to catch every detail while fielding a million questions from my mom, and then immediately going live for the aftershow with David Lightbringer.
Yeah. I'm not sure if I'm going to be up to watching S2, because I lost both my parents (who were very into GoT and HotD) last year, and not having them around, asking questions, and needing explanations about what was changed from the books will just be too much right now, I think.

@@billberndtson Thanks very much. Healing always takes time, so I'm giving myself time and space to deal with what I've got to deal with, and I'll eventually get back to HotD when things aren't so fresh. Gotta keep on living, but also know when to go easy.
I hope Daeron the Daring is in S3, otherwise the Greens won’t have many sympathetic characters to root for.
Book Hobert Hightower (not to be confused with Show Hobert Hightower) was not a good leader but he still went out like a chad. Hope they include something similar in the show
S3? Wouldn’t S2 have to slow down to a crawl to not finish the entire DotD on one season? S1 was like 18 years.
We very likely won't get anything past Season 2, with Cregan Stark making his appearance, the Dance of the Dragons is tuning up.
sympathetic aemond is the only character you must sympathize for for what he endured in his childhood unlike rhenyra who never even considered doing her duty as the heir of the iron throne as she claims to be

I'm really curious as to how Aemond is going to play Luc and Arrax's death when he's back at King's Landing, and whether he's going to let anyone at all know how it was really a bit of bullying that got out of hand. The most interesting possibility, at least in my mind, would be if Helaena were to privately say something cryptic to him that implies that she knows exactly what happened, and that takes him completely off guard. We don't see Aemond off guard very often, and his reaction to that sort of comment from gentle Helaena, of all people, would be very interesting.

Aegon being the stand out character this season has got me so much more hyped then I already was…such a goat character.
Rhaenys is first cousin, once removed to Rhaenyra, because Rhaenys and Viserys are first cousins; Rhaenys' children are second cousins to Rhaenyra.

I have huge expectations from Aegon II this season. We already know what Aemond, Daemon, Rhaenyra and Alicent can pull off in terms of acting and they’re great.

They shouldn't have cut Daemon hugging his daughters after Laena's death, and should have kept the Daemon rolling around in the beach grieving scene in the finale

One of the most fascinating aspects of watching the show after having read the book is how the book emphasizes the need to take everything with a grain of salt. The narrative, shaped by Mushroom's tales and various other perspectives, is rich with bias and missing details. I appreciate how the show navigates between different viewpoints, using them as plot points as the story unfolds. Also, what might seem like 'changes' in the show, such as Helaena being a dragon dreamer, are often more like additions or clarifications. The book may have omitted these details due to a lack of knowledge or even a maester conspiracy.

i reread the chapters of fire and blood that will probably be covered in season 2 and literally took notes this time lol. i'm not really up to date with the leaks and predictions for the show tho so those were interesting to hear about. i really want to see nettles though idk if that's happening

I'm thinking they should definitely make the sea snake spin-off. They could get Corlysfrom hotD to host it like a Jim Henson tales thing where he is sitting with a book on his lap in his study at the start of each episode and narrates each of the voyages lmfao it would be great

I think Rhaenys is Rhaenyras First Cousin once removed (since she's Viserys' cousin). At least that's one of their relationships. With all of the Targaryen incest everyone has multiple relationships with anyone else
I guess technically since Rhaenys is also a half-niece of Jaehaerys I (in addition to being his granddaughter, since Jocelyn Baratheon, Rhaenys' mother is Jaehaerys' halfsister) she would be Baelon's (Viserys' father) first half-cousin (in addition to being his full niece), therefore she would be Viserys' second half-cousin (in addition to being his full first cousin), therefore she would be Rhaenyra's second half-cousin once removed (in addition to being her full first cousin once removed). How fun
The Targaryen family tree is a wreath.
Rhaenyra and Rhaenys are 1st cousins, once removed btw (I mean, in addition to being various other types of cousins due to all the inbreeding lol)! The "removed" part indicates that they are in different generations, meaning how many generations do we have to count back to their common ancestor. So, Rhaenys and Viserys are 1st cousins because they are in the same generation of their family. Rhaenyra and Laenor are 2nd cousins because they are in the same generation. And then, of course, the children that Rhaenyra and Laenor totally had together are their own 3rd cousins! Targaryen family trees are fun!

3:30 I'm glad that somebody pointed this out. I'm a writer as well and I don't get Daemon as being "equal parts good and bad" from the books. In the show, its closer. But in the books heck nah. He's basically a cool bad guy, so I'm not sure what George was trying to say. An actual gray character overall would be Varys, The Hound, Jaime, Arya.
Criston Cole looks like Christopher Moltisanti and acts like Ralphie- King Tony Soprano would’ve needed extra therapy to deal with such a guy.
Well, you see there is the hovel, the barn, the mansion, the estate, the castle, the hut, the keep, the palace, the citadel. All very different houses.

Rhaenys' relationship to Rhaenyra is as a first cousin, once-removed (besides the former being the latter's mother-in-law). Rhaenys and King Viserys I are both grandchildren of King Jaehaerys I and Queen Alysanne via different fathers, who were Jaehaerys and Alysanne's mutual sons - Rhaenys and Viserys are first cousins to one another. Rhaenyra is the daughter of Viserys, so she's one generation following on from Rhaenys (once-removed). There's further relationship, most likely, because King Aenys I's wife, Alyssa, was a Velaryon. So Jaehaerys and Alysanne were part Velaryon and Rhaenys married a Velaryon. Inbred city.
06:47 I believe Rhaenys and Viserys are first cousins so that would make Rhaenyra and Rhaenys first cousins once removed. Laenor and Rhaenyra would then be second cousins. It's hard to say with Targaryens - they're all their own grandpa.

They were twins in the book, here it looks like Baela is older than Rhaena by a year or 2

nor related but it's funny how every Targaryen has blonde hair except Jon Snow, being the motto for the books that "the seed is strong", my theory is Jon is a Baratheon, Robert's black hair was literally the plot twist for book 1
Reason why I root for Daemon…
It has nothing to do whether you think he’s an asshole for killing his wife or you think he’s a badass for killing over 15 guys in the Battle of the Stepstones. Or because he rides Caraxes. The reason why Daemon is so cool is he excels at mostly everything. He gets things done. Viserys was the weaker brother who didn’t get things done because Otto poisoned his mind about his own brother. Otto is the real troublemaker.
The keyword is mostly. HBO did give Daemon an erection problem like Tormund saying how Jon Snow had the smallest penis he had ever seen. HBO trying not to make Jon be completely perfect. Daemon being the second son failed to be king. Has never been a good husband. But if you look at his talent/skill set, he’s basically a Renaissance Man who was great at every job Viserys put him in…

Commander of the City Watch? ☑️
Master of coin? ☑️
Master of laws? ☑️
He’s great as a knight, prince, protector, dragon rider, chief of police, treasurer, lawyer, and he gambled and won a lot of money from it. He was popular among the common folks, hence, Lord Flea Bottom. He wasn’t some jack of all trades but master of none. He excelled in all those jobs. That’s a cool character to enjoy and to watch. His charisma and sense of humor similar to Han Solo are just gravy.
Team Green: Daemon is an asshole! He killed his wife and nobody seems to care. But when Criston kills Laenor’s gay lover, everyone hates on him!
You know, Team Green/Booger, that’s true. There is a double standard that Daemon gets. But Daemon killing his first wife, was that any worse than Anakin doing what he did killing innocent children? But isn’t Anakin/Vader the most popular character in Star Wars? I think Vader is the bigger asshole but fans still worships him including me. The Joker killed and fans still love him. Loki killed and that Loki series is my all-time favorite on Disney+.
Tony Stark can act like an asshole but Iron Man is still the most popular character in MCU. Same with Johnny Lawrence in Cobra Kai. Homelander is my favorite character in The Boys. I’m not rooting for Daemon because he’s perfect or he’s some saint. He’s far from being a saint. I root for Daemon because he’s an excellent all-around character. He’s versatile, complex, and practical to be allies with.
I’m hearing Aemond this season is obsessed trying to be like his uncle. He worships him like Kylo Ren was a Sith poser because he idolized Darth Vader so much. Aemond is Daemon’s No. 1 stan. Like Kobe and LeBron idolizing Michael Jordan by imitating him, wearing his No. 23, and making a Space Jam movie.
Aemond = the pretender to the throne
He’s the cheap, fake imitation of the real one known as DAEMON TARGARYEN. Aemond is the most badass character from Team Green when he will never be as legendary as his uncle. Root for the wannabe but he isn’t beating the OG.
Daemon = Darth Vader
Aemond = Kylo Ren
Daemon = Heisei/MonsterVerse Godzilla
Aemond = 1998 Zilla
Daemon is basically Jaime and Tyrion if they were one person. Add Bronn’s sense of humor and some Loki being a second son who wanted the throne. And Loki is regarded the best character in MCU. Iron Man is the more popular character but Loki had the far greater story arc.

I hope Aemond is nervous over why Vhaegar didn't listen to him. And Allicent and Rhaenyra did get along until Allicent had children of her own. So VERY like the Waif's story to Arya...but this change is SO good. It's my favorite change as well.
No they have brown hair, which in the book could be due to Arryn heritage from Aemma since she might have had brown hair

Rhaenerys, Rhaena and Rhaenys. Three main characters. Ugh, it's so confusing. It's hilarious that the Targaryen's love of recycling names is the literal cause of the misunderstanding that ignited the war, lol.
Makes more sense for her to be vengeful with her daughter's and son's deaths, especially given the scene of her discovering that. Plus they killed my daughter and must pay that's in the book is awesome

Unfortunately that character was sacrificed at the altar of woke ideology to atone for all toxic masculine men, or something. It's very clear that they hated the character and wanted him to look as stupid as possible
I wish they had made Rhaenys hair black. It might be confusing at first for the casual audience to know she’s a targaryen princess but I think that would have been cooler.

The biggest retcon from book to show was probably Alicent being way less of an antagonist in the show, which I'm fine with. But now the showrunners have taken this path, there is a MAJOR retcon I want to see **SPOILERS BELOW**
I want Alicent to survive the winter fever of 132-33 AC and become best friends with Aegon III. They both have a lot in common in that they basically lost (almost) everything to the Dance. This would be Alicent's way of reconciling with the past (and Rhaenyra). She could even become a Septa and teach Aegon's kids about religion
