Sand Boltons got crazy aim
Lmao Sand Boltons sounds vaguely like a racial slur of some kind. I mean I know it's not, but it gives me that vibe, you know what I mean? lol
@@SRosenberg203reminds me of that one races of the world video
More like luck
@@SRosenberg203 it is though. “Sand n-words” is a racist slur for Arab people
I was like 19 when we first met, im 20 now, I got banned from

Tyrion does comment that scorpions can not penetrate the tough skin of dragons. The only way to take them down is to get them in the eye.
"The scales of a full grown dragon were harder than steel, and even those arrows that struck home seldom penetrated enough to do more than enrage the great beasts."-F&B
Obviously Tyrion would already be familiar with that quote, as he's currently a leading expert in Westerosi dragon literature, & F&B is an in-world book in the main story.
Kind of a quote from a quote, whether you realised it or not!
I like how House Uller has the reputation for being nuts, yet it's only member who appeared in books Ellaria Sand is probably one of the few reasonable people around.
A scorpion in the books is likely closer to the Roman scorpion, i.e. a powerful weapon against armored people, but not the dragon killing kind we see in the show. Criston Cole had scorpions at the Battle of Rook's Rest, shooting at Meleys, and they did nothing but piss her off. There are mentions of scorpions on the battlements of various castles like the Red Keep during the Battle of the Blackwater, so they are fairly common just not OP.
The shot that killed Meraxes was 1 in 1000, as it hit the dragon right in the eye.
I’ll be honest, the Uller proverb reminded me more of Bilbo’s “I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.” 😂
The idea that Rhaenys survived and was tortured and potentially graped into having their children so they could essentially inject her Valyrian blood into their House is so disturbing.
I really hope the fall took her out.
Na, she kinda deserved it, she burned dorne and killed a lot of dornish people alongside her siblings
0:42 I’d say house Lannister got away with killing a Targaryen king 😂
Would be interested about House Yronwood as the second most powerful house of Dorne
They were almost the subject of this video, I think they might be up next.
A great and glorious House!!!!
Based house, hates the Martells so much they fight for the Blackfyres.
@@QuinnTheGM That'd be dope
Certainly the Bloodroyal has always been the true royal line of Dorne, those pesky heirs of Nymeria's deserve not their throne.
If house uller is revealed to have been the ones behind Daeron's murder it would be extremely funny
It was a meeting discussing terms between the Martells of Sunspear and the Iron Throne. The Prince of Dorne had the Young Dragon killed, because those boyfuckers don't have a shred of honor in them.
Seemed more like a House Wyl move tbh.
@@ingen_nate_kenny6588 Yeah, Wyls are the worst.
Don’t forget about Euron Greyjoy with his invisible fleet
Dany kinda forgot...
Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken, baby.
Almost got a shirt with the Martell sigil and words on it, but wasn’t sure how that’d read without context. Went with Baratheon instead.
bending would have saved them tens of thousands of life, but their Yellow Toad would rather send them to their graves. A good thing Prince Nymor disposed of her before it was too late.
@@josephbulkin9222the deaths are on the targs that wanted to conquer for no reason.
Not the people who fought not to be under their boot.
@@hclw3589 those Dornish boyfuckers are nothing but cockroaches whitout a shred of honor in them. Bend, for god's sake. Torrhen Stark bent, Loren Lannister bent, Ronnel Arryn bent.

Guarenteed the guy manning the scorpion was a legend around Hellholt after that.
If he wasn’t immediately killed by Meraxes crashing through the tower
S 3 X D U N G E O N
I'm amazed at how twisted George can get in a mainstream series with just hints. He's the absolute GOAT.
House Dayne for sure. Great lore
You bring it up with Oberyn, but i think its interesting how almost all of his travels relate back to dragons.
-goes to Oldtown to study (Maesters have knowledge on everything, and specifically a locked book on dragons is mentioned in the story. Plus Marywn would be around)
-Goes to Hellholt (where Meraxes died) enough that he's linked to Ellaria Sand.
-Goes to Volantis, inside the Black Walls where the blood of Valyria is very pure and they still follow the Valyrian gods.
-Saw the old Rhoynish cities destroyed by Valyria
At this point, id be unsurprised if we learned Oberyn wanted to go to Valyria itself, or if he spent time at the ruins of the Dragonpit. The only major dragon-lore location in Westeros we dont hear he visited is Dragonstone, but his sister did live there
Great video! One small thing, scorpions are actually quite common in the books. They’re on the walls of the red keep, and on warships.
I've been fascinated by this metal AF house for a while now! Thanks!
House Toland would be my favorite, based on the TWOW released chapters. I tend to have a soft spot for the smaller houses that fill out the kingdom, especially those like Toland and Smallwood that don't play a huge role in the main plot but bring out meaningful moments for the characters and/or reader. Really hoping to see more of Teora, despite that being unlikely unless Arianne returns by way of Ghost Hill (also a sick castle name).
HOTD SPOILERS
I’ve always thought the storming of the dragon pit was a bit weird. I understand they were chained/not fighting normally but I still just don’t think there’s an amount of humans that could kill an adult dragon without special weaponry like scorpions.
I agree, and we do even have mentions of magic and divine intervention during that event, which, as we the audience know, there could be some truth to this.
Major theory, but I wonder if there's some magical intervention by the Great Other, who wants dragons gone
Honestly the Dragons killed themselves more than peasants did during the storming of the Dragon Pit, sure if the Dragons were tactical they probably could have killed the peasants with their fire, claws, and teeth, but the Dragons are animals who initial instinct in this sort of situation is to attempt to fly so they’re out of attack range and can either fly away or attack from a safe distant with their fire breath, but since they were underground and chained so they couldn’t fly away a decent number would have died or seriously injured themselves unintentionally with their chains, and then they ended up causing the roof of the Dragon Pit to collapse on them.
You know, I get they were probably panicking and they killed themselves more than the peasants actually killed them, and that makes sense for the young dragons because it would be terrifying being rushed by that many people when your the size of Arrax from HOTD for example…but bruh, the idea of Dreamfyre being scared of little spears and regular arrows that bounce off her skin, while being the size of or potentially even bigger than Meleys is a little ridiculous.
Dreamfyre should’ve been able cook them fools to the last man and go back to sleep like it was a regular Tuesday.
The thematic point of the Storming of the Dragon Pit is that even the smallfolk can bring down dragons when they collectively come together. There’s probably also some foreshadowing intended for the Sparrows in contemporary Westeros.
1. I think it's just to show that if the lower class bands together they can take down the upper class which is the point of the Mushroom line: "Drunks they may be, but a drunken man knows not fear. Fools, aye, but a fool can kill a king. Rats, that too, but a thousand rats can bring down a bear. I saw it happen once, down there in Flea Bottom."
2. I don't think the scorpion itself is special, I think it's just because the Ullers shot the dragon in the eye and not the scales. So if the smallfolk attacked the dragons in their eyes then it's possible that they could've killed one.
House Santagar seems like an interesting house with a cool sigil
"firing a scorpion from a ships is stupid"
Is that why the Fury got destroyed in the Battle of the Blackwater?
Such a great video concept. Love all the Dornish houses, especially the Ullers. Would love to see a video on the other houses too
Personally I'd love to hear an analysis of House Wyl. They might not have managed to kill a dragon but they stand with House Peake as one of the few houses that poked the Targaryens in the eye with a stick and survived to tell the tale; and they've done it repeatedly. From the Wyl of Wyl cutting off Orys Baratheon's hand and supporting the Vulture King in the Second Dornish War, to imprisoning Aemon Dragonknight and then making Baelor waltz into a viper pit to release him, they've deliberately spit on the Targaryens more than almost any other house. And while it's not stated directly, the fact that Aemon ended up in their dungeon after Daeron was killed seems to indicate they had a strong part in killing Daeron too.
They also had that whole "raid a wedding, assault the bride in front of the groom, make said groom into an eunuch, sell bride to slavers" thing.
God, House Wyl are just the worst, it is honestly kind of impressive.
So basically, House Uller killed that dragon and the Martells just took the credit. 😅
YEEEESSSS! MORE HOUSE DAYNE THEORIES! THE CHILDREN YEARN FOR THE LORDS OF STARFALL!
But I wouldn’t complain about Yronwood either
Also the Hellholt is the main keep in Memory, Sorrow and Thorn! Kinda a big inspiration for ASOIF:)
Awesome video!
I'd doubt the absolute darkest ending to Rhaenys alluded to here. But she most likely was tortured to death by the Ullers and Meria. Most likely the letter was an offer of peace by Nymor along with the return of her body to Dragonstone.
have to go with the basic choice of house dayne, the whole motif thing is great and they are so mysterious and coollllllll
House Manwoody COA goes hard. I know we don’t know much about them but they’re probably my favorite Dornish house just aesthetically. Them or House Wyl
We need to see more of Dorne, I am really hoping for the ten thousand ships show.
10:01 this was uncalled for 😂😂😂
I like dorne, but other than House Martell and Dayne, I don't really have any other favorites. However, I think house Toland is cool since they trick house targaryen and make a pretty cool sigil afterwards.
I have always favored the theory that Rhaenys survived and thats what made aegon react the way he did to the letter. House Toland would be interesting maybe paired with another house in dorne
She could survive, but later she was tortured to death.
I'd love a video about the history of house Yronwood
House Uller is so committed to the bit that they invented telephones and area codes just so they could have area code 666
The (extinct) House Dryland probably has them beat.
I mean, Lucifer Dryland, King of the Brimstone and Lord of Hellgate Hall?
Worth noting none of the 4 assassins lives longed enough to collect their rewards
House Jordayne of Tor is probably my favorite since it’s a really cool shout out to Robert Jordan and his friendship with George. Especially after reading George’s blogpost where he talks about Jordan’s death.
In the main books, if Doran ends up supporting fAegon, maybe he could supply him with scorpions for his battle against Dany
Very unlikely but it would be crazy if Rhaenys survived and captured by the Ullers but fell in love with a Dornish man like a Uller or Martell.
Firing a scorpion from a ship is not inherently stupid, the Romans did it all the time. However, Roman naval artillery wasn't great for sniping, so you'd still struggle to hit a dragon's eye with it.
Rhaegal was killed in this way.
Dornishmen are cowardly and deceptive, but my favorite is Yronwood for hating the Martells so much that they joined the anti-Dornish Blackfyres. The Sand Snakes *do* have Targaryen lineage through Oberyn and his ancestor Daenerys.
Anyway, Billy Burley, possibly of the northern mountain clans, in service of House Blackwood, (mercy) killed Tessarion; I think that might be the only individual named thus far to have killed a dragon without being on another dragon. I think at one of the last dragons ended up killed by dragonslayers as well. Marwyn rhetorically asks Sam what killed the dragons and then says "Gallant dragonslayers armed with swords?" He blames the maesters, but if you think about, Marwyn might literally being saying that some dragonslayers actually killed the dragons (albeit with the maesters backing them). Now, that could be a "cute" reference to the storming of the Dragonpit, but there is a Reach house, House Willum, who has a sigil with a dragon skeleton and three swords crossed together (a reference to The Dragonbone Chair series). However...we know that after the Dance, the dragon Silverwing lived in the northern Reach, and had to be dead by 153. I wonder if knights from House Willum are responsible for killing that dragon.
Their house kind of "rhymes" with the Boltons.
I like the Martells and the Daynes
"We have your sister. And also your wife. Here are our demands:"
The Rhaenys theories are interesting and would make the letter make more sense. But the sand snakes already have a more direct Targaryen bloodline through princess Daenerys. That’s one of the reasons Elia was chosen for Rheagar. The only house with more recent Targaryen blood than the Martells are the Baratheons.
Regarding the Sand Snakes riding dragons, they already have some Valyrian blood due to Oberyn and the rest of the Martell’s being descended from Daenerys.
As to House Uller’s potential, there is no way to know which Houses in Dorne married one of Daenerys’s descendants, so any of them could have Valyrian blood.
House Tolland should get a video
Rhaenys got double toasted in them dungeons
Danes are always my favourite in dorne
Sounds very much like the death of the Rheynes of Castemere!
Man, house Hightower are gonna be PISSED when they see this video.
And what other techniques do they really have? If you try to fight dragons with a ground army, you get toasted. Even if the dragon was on the ground, they seem to have armoured hides that make stabbing with a spear seem impractical. (Do we have any in-book lore about how tough dragon's scale is?) If you take cover in caves this accomplishes two key goals. First, it obviously conceals you from the enemy, a worthy objective especially against flying enemies with devastating ranged energy weapons. Second, it allows you a chance at reversal of the enemies own tactic. Normally dragons appear in the sky and toast ya before your troops can even run/your city watch can prepare to fight fires. Taking cover in caves allows you to prepare your only viable weapons against them. As considered earlier, it might be possible to ambush a dragon while it rested on the ground, but this is absurdly dangerous and is more suited to a small group of dragonhunters rather than an army. If you sneakily set up ballistae or some of the "scorpions" mentioned in text inside the caves, you might have a chance. Assuming the dragon would fly over some of the same land several times during their attempts to take over, the Dornish might have assembled weapons in caves surrounding key areas such as Sunspear or the Water Garden.
So the Dornish were really using the only strategy that would have been practical. Do we get many mentions of Dornish magic-users?
Some random ah myrish sailors with crossbows
House Peake -- hmm, George must be a Mervyn Peake fan
Roundel is the word I think
Is there the concept of hell in the religion of the seven? Specifically the concept of hell as a fiery place? Otherwise how would they come up with the name hellholt as the result of the burning?
"Seven hells..."
Shouldn’t the Sand Snakes already have Targ Blood. Isn’t Oberion a direct descendant of the first Daenerys
House Yronwood
House Yronwood is the coolest Dornish house imo.

We need more secret Targs like we need another hole in the head
👍
Ullers where fighting fire with fire but not with literal one.
If the Rhaenys theory is true then the younger Sand Snakes have a drop of Targaryen blood from both their parents 😮😮😮

What about the Blackwoods? Wasn't it Ben Blackwood who put the arrow through Tessarion's eye, after he was crippled in the fight with Vermithor and Seasmoke?
I wasn’t counting mercy kills, and didn’t want to mention that in the video for the sake of not spoiling HotD. That death always makes me sad, Tessarion is my favorite.
@@QuinnTheGM Oh shit, I totally forgot that was a spoiler, let me edit my post!
And yeah, Tessarion is my favorite dragon too. And my favorite Dragonrider also dies in that fight, which makes me incredibly sad. LOYAL.
This part of the lore has always been really, really dumb. How does it make sense the the Dornish can hide but not other people? And the rest of Westeros can't build Scorpions?
third?
Why is firing a scorpion from a ship problematic?
Daeron the second and Viserya the second? You mean Baelor the first and Daeron the second.
Wait why is firing a scorpian from a ship stupid?
I think its the fact they managed to 'one shot' the dragon.
because the ship is moving erratically while aiming at a fast moving target
@pattonramming1988 thanks for the explanation
Euron was absolute trash in the books
