Easy peasy Japanesey. Or in this case, Korean. As disk brake jobs go this was a snap. I really didn’t want to do it but had to as I had a warped rotor. Now I think I’ll check my rear brakes and repair if needed. I wouldn’t have attempted this without your video. Well done.
Thanks guys - I have this job to do in the next few days on my 2017 Sportage. These brakes are somehow both more complex and simpler than the ones on my motorcycle - that has four pistons in each caliper, but changing the pads doesn’t even need the caliper removed. :) Dare I ask what torque settings should be used on the caliper bolts?
Thank you for watching our auto repair video that shows you how to replace the brakes on your KIA Sportage. If you Google the torque settings for the brakes you should be able to find the recommended torque settings.
Is there any issue with having to disengage electronic braking system before changing front or rear brakes before taking calipers off and changing pads?
I would use the brake caliper pin grease it is rated for high brake temperatures. They wheel bearing grease might get too hot and melt off. If you need it right away your local auto parts store will have it.
I always bleed the brake fluid out while I push the piston back, also you didn’t bleed the brakes and didn’t provide any tough specs? Almost hit 100k on OEMs brakes and calipers. I’ll replace ours soon. But it is alot of highway driving. 2020 SX-T
@@HomeownerRepair I did love to watch this video as I have a 2019 kia Sportage paid for the 2yr/50k warranty they took care of the monthly oil changes and the tires etc. until the warranty finished. Instead of doing this myself I know an owner of a shop not too far and he gave me a smashing deal on front breaks + oil change and told me by next oil change I will need rear brakes gave me the same deal when I come in next. Damn tires need replaced as well. Pain in my a**
Hope this video helped you out. Let us know if you were able to tackle this job on your own. Drop us a comment and we'll reply back!

Might have to run to the PHATS store too..lol
Thanks. Very helpful, not just for the Kia. There are some sound tips here. Torque values on the bolts would have been helpful.
Thanks for watching

Great video! Do you know if this procedure would be the same for a 2019 Kia Sedona LX minivan?
You may be able to apply some of the basic steps shown in this video to your vehicle.
Great video

i am looking for a manual impact driver, so many on amazon show them with the bits that break doing this very type of job
I just purchased a Ryobi one that has been fine so far. Bought it at Home Depot.
Great vid! What brand pads and rotors did you use?
There were a brand I found on Amazon. Detroit Axle makes decent brake kits. Here is a link to them amzn.to/4g52cR4

If you follow the video you should be fine. We didn't have to disengage anything.
Do you have to take the whole caliper off to replace the pads?
You have to remove it from the brake caliper brake as shown in this video to remove the pads.
Thanks your video was a big help!
Glad it helped!
Can you use high temperature wheel grease where the pads slide??

You typically do not have to bleed the brakes unless when you are done you are experiencing a spongy brake pedal.
This is great and helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!
You're welcome!

IE Love supporting the locals.
Those rotor screws always seemed redundant to me.
They toss them in on the assembly line to hold the brake rotors in place what the car is being assembled.
I just watched another video today where they said that they don't put them back on as they are not needed. I wonder.
Hated those screws. Ended up drilling em out.
@@fatoputso7375 just use a lug nut on backwards to hold the rotor
on then put it back on the wheel when done.

You can apply this tip to pretty much any vehicle that you are performing a brake job on.
