  • In this video we will show you how to replace the front brakes on a AWD 2017-2021 KIA Sportage. This auto repair can be done in your driveway using simple hand tools. We purchased this car brand new and are replacing these brakes at 67,000 miles. Your brake rotors should be serviced every 50,000-70,000 miles.

      Easy peasy Japanesey. Or in this case, Korean. As disk brake jobs go this was a snap. I really didn’t want to do it but had to as I had a warped rotor. Now I think I’ll check my rear brakes and repair if needed. I wouldn’t have attempted this without your video. Well done.

    Thanks. Very helpful, not just for the Kia. There are some sound tips here. Torque values on the bolts would have been helpful.

    Thanks guys - I have this job to do in the next few days on my 2017 Sportage. These brakes are somehow both more complex and simpler than the ones on my motorcycle - that has four pistons in each caliper, but changing the pads doesn’t even need the caliper removed. :)
    Dare I ask what torque settings should be used on the caliper bolts?

      Thank you for watching our auto repair video that shows you how to replace the brakes on your KIA Sportage. If you Google the torque settings for the brakes you should be able to find the recommended torque settings.

    Great video! Do you know if this procedure would be the same for a 2019 Kia Sedona LX minivan?

    Can you use high temperature wheel grease where the pads slide??

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would use the brake caliper pin grease it is rated for high brake temperatures. They wheel bearing grease might get too hot and melt off. If you need it right away your local auto parts store will have it.

    Is there any issue with having to disengage electronic braking system before changing front or rear brakes before taking calipers off and changing pads?

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you follow the video you should be fine. We didn't have to disengage anything.

      @@HomeOwnerRepair I did love to watch this video as I have a 2019 kia Sportage paid for the 2yr/50k warranty they took care of the monthly oil changes and the tires etc. until the warranty finished. Instead of doing this myself I know an owner of a shop not too far and he gave me a smashing deal on front breaks + oil change and told me by next oil change I will need rear brakes gave me the same deal when I come in next. Damn tires need replaced as well. Pain in my a**

    Those rotor screws always seemed redundant to me.

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They toss them in on the assembly line to hold the brake rotors in place what the car is being assembled.

      I just watched another video today where they said that they don't put them back on as they are not needed. I wonder.

      @@fatoputso7375 just use a lug nut on backwards to hold the rotor
      on then put it back on the wheel when done.
