I've been doing DIY brake work for 30 years. Attention to detail is what separates quality car work from just "fixing" it. This guy, in this no-frills video, does a great job in showing attention to detail.
Thank you for watching our auto repair video that show you how to replace the rear brake pads and rotors on a 2017-2021 KIA Sportage. Have a great day!

Very nice. I've done brakes on quite a few vehicle, mostly much older one from early 2000s or 90s, 80, 70s etc. Never seen the springs to spread the pads. Learned something. Thank you.
I thought it was very good, I have a 2015 sportage all wheel drive and not everyone dares to do work on them. So learning from those who know has been very good for me.

Excellent video, thank you for posting. I also have a 2018 Kia Sportage that I am going to change the rear pads and rotors. However, I was told to never to use spray cleaner on coated rotors. Is this true?
Usually brake rotors come with a coating of oil to prevent them from rusting. We use brake cleaner to get this film off of the new brake rotors so that they are not slippery.
Each system is different to release. Some u have to have a reader to release them others u can do on your own. I have a 2017 that has it but haven't researched it yet to see if I can do it on my own.
Hope this video helped you out. Let us know if you were able to tackle this job on your own. Drop us a comment and we'll reply back!
That is so cool

I would have thought using a file and exposing bare metal might be a route corse of future rusting ? Maybe just use a brush ?
You can use a brush or a file, the lube added onto the area will also help prevent rusting. Hope this helps you out.
** painted calipers
Does the Ebrake engage like the VW ? Or no need to worry about it? The SX with E brake
It engages with a foot brake.
Do you need to flick the adjuster up the way to tighten the brake shoe?
It may be up. The brake rotor will become harder to turn if you are going in the right direction.
I have a 2019 sportage sx with a electronic parking brake how do I get the electronic thing off and is it different ?
It may be a different procedure my 2018 didn't have this.

Is there a difference for the push button e-brake?
there is when buying the parts, so I would guess, yes.
If you KIA have electric emergency brakes I believe there was a different part number for that rear brake rotor. Hope this helps you out.
is it not electric handbrake on the back?
This is manual emergency brake
Isn't the sportage ABSed?
Should be.
