If your having to max out your forks HSC, your X2 is not set up right. It is a little firmer than the old one so remove the tokens and start over with rebound and compression settings. The same settings as you had in your old shock won’t exactly carry over.
Funnily enough steve m at vorsprung did dyno comarison on an old rc2, the grip 2 non vvc and the grip 2 vvc. The grip 2 vvc hardly makes any compression damping maxxed out like 8x less than a grip 2 non vvc can make and maybe 1/4 of an rc2. The vvc adjuster doesnt do much.....
@@EnglertRacing96 I have seen that video. His stuff can be hard for me to follow. The old X2 had more range too. It was easier to get lost in. They kinda sell shocks to the masses. I have a rash of videos coming. Changing the damper fluid oil weight changed the damping more than every click of compression
Shocks seem to vary when shipped. Proflow suspension in Queenstown has made basically every shock I've used perform well with a service and re valve. Before selling I'd suggest this before thinking about buying new again.
When fox warrantied my blown 2022 for a 2024 they said “We have redesigned the damper architecture to provide a freer flowing damper system that resulted in reduced fluid pressures, a better tune, and more meaningful adjustments at your controls. For trunnion mounted shocks we have also beefed up the trunnion mount substantially and are now using a 7000 series aluminum rather than a 6000 series.”
@@hurricanesails Are you in EU? I'm in eastern EU, it's a 2021 model so it's out of warranty, sent it in on 6th of February this year through a local bike shop/service and didn't hear from them since(gave them a call and they said they're gonna call me when it comes back), I guess I'll have to wait more than 5 weeks.
Thanks for the reply otter. I’m going to ride it until I can’t tolerate it and send it to my tuner. That’s interesting about the negative spring…it feels exactly like a MegNeg (which was awful to me). For reference I weigh 155
Just got my my new bike today. Fox factory float x2 equiped. Pulled it out of the box. Threw some air in it. Cycled it and what do you know air raided oil sounding damper 🎉😂😅😢😢
What you have in this video is not a MY 2024, as the bleeder is moved to the back of the shock on MY 2024, instead of the side, so what you have there is a MY 2023 or prior
Hi Otter. I have a few questions. I have the warrantied 2024 x2. The previous owner warrantied the x2 right before I purchased his 2022 Levo. 1) does the warranty 2024 x2 ship with volume reducers already installed? 2) is the warrantied 2024 x2 an off the shelf tune, or a the Levo version (it feels waaay over damped)? 3) regarding compression clickers, is the HSC the 6mm or 3mm hex? Thanks. I enjoy your videos. Keep it up
So, I’m working on video why it feels so different. They have stuffed a massive negative token in the new ‘24 X2. This makes it feels awful like Rockshox. It effectively makes you run lower pressure and kills small bump. It jumps better and less likely to blow up with lower pressure. Hsc is 6mm From my experience they always come with no tokens. And with a small Levo shock you need at least 1
Hey bro! Great video! I have the 2023 turbo levo Carbon and I bought a fox 38 170mm, would that affect the geo of my bike or is it barely noticeable in yours?
I started with 2 tokens, then 3, and it feels good for climbing and flow trails but, if you ride more chunky DH, or parks with lots of breaking bumps it feels like shit with anything more than one token. With one token it still jumps well and feels more coil like. With what seems to be a firmer shock for 2024, I may remove all the tokens. So far , no problems and feels good.
Starting to enjoy the 29er version more as skills increase. Clipped pedals and extra year of riding. Also this shock 230x60 so it’s less rear travel. 😎
Tunes have been revamped and narrowed down to 6 compression/base valve tunes... Rebound has a couple of brand specific ones... Mine was matched with the closest tune from a spire. Feels similar...
Do these new X2’s also tend to blow up or aerate? I read many comments on pinkbike that this X2 visits service the most often… some even blow up straight out of the box in the first ride... I’m afraid to buy it actually

Yup. I cant believe what I heard him say was his solution...
I spent hours on it removed the token it’s really firm for sure

How much time did you wait for it? I'm waiting for a month now to get it back from the service. Also, where did u send it for service?
@@danielturcan4685 I don’t remember
I sent them a 2022 x2 for warranty on 2/22/24 and received a new '24 X2 back today 3/13/24 - so basically 3 weeks.

Real talk, if I feel afraid of hurting my self because of all the shox busting up can I get a replacement
It won’t make you crash, it a complex shock that needs maintenance
My takeaway from this: Zeb + X2 = A bike that feels like a 160mm but has the capabilities of a 190mm

Exactly what i came here to say… wondering if they’ve managed to solve the exploding issue with this new rendition
Buddy is aggressive and been riding his since April... All good so far...
Suppose to well see
Your shock feel different?

Probably fine. Just 10mm over stroke. I ran a Levo with one and it was normal feeling
LOL what a load of hot shit. It's a new shock, there is a break-in period for the seals to fully soften.
It’s not that there is a massive token in negative chamber
Would you say that the 2021 was better?
‘24 only

Yeah, I kinda agree with that. It felt like the small bump is gone with three tokens. That’s why I played token rodeo.
What's the max weight of the rider ?
My kenevo is currently mullet. Do you recommend going full 29er? Also you make the best suspension tech videos 👌

Does your old and new x2 have the same tune?
I asked for it, no way to vouch

I think the main benefit of the 2024 X2 is that Fox hope it doesn't puke oil all over the place constantly.
We’ll see we’ll see
It is obvious that you are a Rockshox guy. I also am now but man give the 24 X2 a chance.

wait 2-3 days until cavitation come back :) they just have changed some seals.
Incorrect...
Been a whole season and feels like new!
could you explain what's new to prevent cavitation ???@@falkyn06
Send it to Fox they send back a new shock
Rather get new upgraded internals in the old shock, and it would perform much better than the new one!

Do they still explode?

You clearly are way off on pressure man
