In defence of their price they manufacture everything in the UK and are a fantastic company, they train up tons of young people into well payed roles and have invested alot into the UK bike scene. Their replacement part availability in the UK is amazing too, you can get virtually anything if you contact them.
Speaking to the part availability, I like that Hope still makes 185mm rotors. I personally don't have a bike that needs 185, but I'm sure there's someone out there who's grateful that Hope makes them.
Manufacturing in the UK isn’t a plus point in any way! If anything it means that it’s being made by someone with less experience at a higher cost… give a SRAM or Shimano product any day over anything hope make.
Did a race in France last year, the wife had an off and needed lots of parts for the brakes we didn't have with us. The hope stand donated all the parts and more, superb customer service. Quality through and through.
Tech4 V4 owner and can confirm there's power and modulation in spades. The support from the factory is incredible, they answer every email and have helped with questions about bleeding, set up, downloadable 3D printed tools, etc. The build quality shades just about any other brand I"ve personally used and they come with extra pads!
Over time, rotors start to wobble on the spider, which is incredibly annoying. Replacing anything there is barely possible, and a new rotor like that costs around €100, if I’m not mistaken. Honestly, I’m tired of seeing nothing but praise for Hope brakes online. I’ve been riding with these brakes (V4 and E4) on two bikes for several years, and they’ve worked decently maybe 20% of the time. The power is atrociously low, which everyone calls “bottomless modulation,” and the pistons in the caliper constantly get stuck. The colored anodization fades pretty quickly, especially the purple one. Compared to Saints, it’s night and day, and not in Hope’s favor.
Something almost noone knows about hope nowadays is if you have issues with fitment or consistent issues with a part, they still do things how they did 20 years ago. This means if you ring up and a machinist or engineer answers, they will literally CUSTOM MAKE a new one for you. I had a fitment issue with their pro 5 on my frame, and they custom made me a new axle, end caps and they did all that while keeping the 54t freehub body i wanted. Theres no company that comes close to Hope when it comes to customer support
1 finger = ABS, 2 fingers = ABS override!! Frankly, I have a great deal of respect for Hope products seeing as I have 5 bikes equipped the UK made brakes. They are excellent performers. As for bleeds... Starting with freshly degassed fluid is key. DOT cleans up with water, so if fluid gets onto a painted surface, don't fret, finish the job and after everything is closed up, a sprayer bottle filled with water is your friend!! I work on bicycle brakes as well as automotive brakes by trade. Modulation? My TryAll discs are made by Hope, Hope's version is the TrialZone. They have minimal modulation and serve stupid well for trials. With that said, I expect a smaller modulation window on the other 17 bikes I own. If the brakes cannot throw you through the windshield, they don't work!!

the massive thing about Hope is the service, there's people running brakes and hubs from 20 years ago because they are just infinitely serviceable, every part is replaceable and I've heard that even if they don't make a specific part that you need anymore they will make it specially for you. what other brand sends you out 3 sets of pads too? hope always have my custom over other brands, especially on brakes, bottom brackets and headsets
after riding for 15+ years with a hope set of brakes, where i only changed the oil once a year and the o-ring and pistons after 12years i would say the hope's are the best and the cheapest. same as hubs, or headsets. that stuff is made to last. my hats off to the engineers. building a new cargobike with hope parts, what can be hope parts.
Most like moto and auto brakes, I run the e4’s and I’m glad you talk up the modulation because it really is the best. E4 with HS2, is the enduro race brake for me.

I have the Tech 4 V 4s with vented rotors on my Deviate and they are by far the best brakes I've ever used!! So much stopping power and the confidence they give you on the trails!! Much better than any Shimano or Sram brakes that I've used in the past!!
Love my T4 V4s. Had the new mavens in the cart but after extensive research I realized these were the superior product. More importantly than anything, I love the feel at the lever.
I have always been a Hope Tech guy ever since Shimano went backwards with their brake design developments. They just flat out work great! The Calipers, the Rotors and of course the Blades......simply above reproach!
I just got these 2 weeks ago, been riding sram code for years, and the difference is night and day. Probably not a fair comparison but holy sht these are powerful, the lever feels good/premium, easy to bleed (no more syringes), and they look amazing! Couldn’t be happier! Price is ridiculous though, but that’s just the norm of the industry 😬 I got mine second hand, if you find a good deal go for it!
I've been running the slightly smaller E4s on my orange p7, specialized enduro and more recently my mondraker super foxy R and I've never had a single issue with the reliability, performance or aesthetics. I coupled mine with uberbike components flat out discs (rotors) and use their race matrix pads. I can't recommend the hope brakes enough! If you buy them, you won't be disappointed!
I have the E4s with Tech 3 levers and they're pretty weak - get hand/arm soreness on long descents. I'm wondering if I should spring for the Tech 4 levers or just put my Dominion A4s back on.

They sell the other brands too... but yeah, the lovechild of Hope and Hayes is the holy grail. I have the Dominions and they have good power and modulation but they're a pain to bleed and there's no usable bite point adjustment, so it's hard to get low throw without rotor rub... OMG, I've just had an unholy thought: could I use Hope levers with Dominion calipers?
Great review! I love when people review items on the long terme, not just 1-2 rides. Problem for me, Dot fluid... I got rid of that, I much prefer the bleeding process of mineral oil. Also, lots of people in my Facebook MTB groups are selling their Maven brakes... yes they are extremely powerful but if you do not use them like a Pro DH rider, they just destroy your arm... worst arm pumps brake from what I've been hearing. I have tried several brakes, not top quality like SRAM Guide RE, DB8, Shimano XT .... and I keep getting back to my good old Saints. I have saints on 2 of my bikes now, Enduro and E-MTB and I just love them. easy to use, easy to bleed, powerful enough for everything I do even more... :) I think Shimano are finally going to get the saints upgrade as most of their brakes are currently on sale... I sure hope so :)
Have a couple of sets of v4 that I have been using for well over a year now, the set I initialy gravity bled always ended up with a small amount of air in the system. Would strongly reccomend draining the reservoir and filling from the caliper with a syringe making sure the pistons are fully in the caliper and overfilling the reservoir. Still work as good a year on as when I bled them no pump fade or spongy feel
I've owned the tech 3 x2, tech 3 e4, and a tech 4 e4. A good bleed is critical. I found the best way to bleed them is to take the caliper all the way off the bike, crack the bleed port a half turn, and use a syringe and hose to push fluid up to the open lever reservoir while rotating the caliper around in your hand. Replace lever cap and clean everything. I do that I on initial set up and do not need to touch the bleed again for at least a year.
Had nothing but problems with my front tech 4 v4s. They were fine for a season but the front’s bite point wanders halfway down a bike park lap. Would be half an inch out at bite point at the start of a lap, and at the end they’d be hitting my knuckle. I used both adjustments to alleviate this but still didn’t solve this. Put the new hope brake mounts and new rotors same issue. Rear brake has been fine surprisingly. Took ages to get hope to honor their warranty and send me a new master cylinder. I hope that fixes the issue after this weekend at the bike park.

Awesome review as always Tor. I just got the Hayes Dominion and they are absolutely miles better than the code RSC’s that came on my bike in my opinion. I’ve heard great things about the hopes as well.
@8:27 that car trick for me is the best one. i bleed brakes for almost 17 years, even today i have bleeding kits for multiple brakes, i still use that trick for the newest brakes out there like saint, xtr, code, mt5/7. i only use the cup of the bleeding kit and that trick. ofc you spend more oil, but its flawless.
I run both XTR and XT brakes on my rides however, I run the HOPE rotors with both the Shimano brake systems and the performance difference and rotor life is well worth the extra price for the rotors! HOPE makes some of the finest stuff out there...just one rides opinion!!!
I would suggest for most people the E4 is the better caliper. It follows the current trend in motorcycles for smaller pistons (e.g. M50, Stylema, Hypure, etc.) for better control when paired with a smaller piston in the master cylinder.
I often hear in videos of Tech4V4s this annoing high squeaking noise? Did you get rid of it or is it still there? Some say its getting better with Galfer rotors 🤔
High performance brakes and pads squeal, that’s just a by-product of what they do. My car has full Brembo setup and they squeal too. You can try dampen the vibrations which cause the squeal by adding grease between the piston and pad but all you’re going to do is attract dirt build up behind the pads and gum up the pistons and create stiction.
I would never undercut Hope customer service or parts, but Magura adapters are also compatible with Hope clearance requirements in my experience if needed in a pinch

Sounds like the ideal brakes would be a hybrid of Hope and Hayes. Both have good power and modulation, but Hopes are expensive and the Dominion A4s have no usable bite point adjustment (and in my experience, are a pain to bleed without getting rotor rub and/or a too-long throw). Could we use a Tech 4 lever with Dominion A4 calipers? Saves a bit of cash, gets better adjustment and an easier bleed process, and looks better.
The air in the system is just because you bled them without the kit. Personally I use the Hope bleed kit top cap and then screw in a SRAM bleeding edge tool into that and then on the caliper I connect another syringe and force it through the system. A couple of lever pulls and there's no air. No spongy feeling.
I'm a 107kg guy. Unsurprisingly my Deore XT 180mm brakes (2caliper) feel a little underpowered. Does it make sense to buy brakes like these for an XC bike for riding on relatively flat terrain? Feels liek a bit of an overkill...
Make sure you're using semi metallic pads and a decent rotor. I"m similar weight, and on my xc I upsized to a 200mm rotor on the front (though not strictly necessary). Galfer or hope rotors (non vented) have good bite. I had to clearance my xt caliper with a dremel to not rub on the hope rotor - you may not be comfortable doing this.
The v4 rotors are 3.3mm, normal floating are 1.8mm. They will fit the e4 but either rub or your brake will feel poo. I’m sure you’ll say it works perfectly but I’ve seen it through our shop many times and they’re always terrible. You don’t understand the difference in the e4/v4 caliper.
Good Question. Actualy its the other way around. Hope recommends by use of normal rotors (1.8 mm) to re fill the lever reservoir offer the first touch of pads on the rotor to compensate for the extra travel the pistons had to take. So to keep the same lever feel the system needs a bit more oil with the normal rotors then with the vented ones.
So many youtubers talking about ebike weight... but rider weight difference (say a 70kg rider vs 90kg) is much bigger than a BIKE vs Ebike Stop steering people towards the "ebikes need stronger brakes" It's like telling heavier riders to buy stronger brakes - and truth is that I've never seen........
I've ran V4s for a season now. Not a single hiccup for me and lever feel is top notch even when sending it down the rough stuff with my fat ass dragging the brakes.
I run Shigura on all of my bikes and Ive been tempted to switch but then ai hear this nonsense about a squishy lever, and needing bleeds quite often from air and contamination, and the fact they use DOT fluid…. I’ll stick with my Shiguras as well. So far they have been literally perfect on all three bikes Ive installed them on.
idk man I still like the on/off of Shimano. Maybe because I use them exclusively on pavement. I even got Stainless lines for my Shimanos to be more on/off. I'm looking forward to those leaked NEW SAINTS, idk I'f yall have seen those. The brake line going towards the bar is super nice.
They look really great but they are absolutely shocking to run on a DH bike. I have just sold my set that I ran for 1.5 years with the 220 vented rotors. I had nothing but problems. Constantly fading, inconsistent lever feel and required constant maintenance like bleeding. I spoke to two members of Hope Staff in Morzine this summer who said there is a “unofficial” issue with the master cylinder. Also they added that it needs a full bleed whenever the pads are changed. Overall I was really disappointed.
Very true! We tried to squeeze them in a TRP DHR and a Hayes Dominion caliper with exactly 0 success. If you want that double stuffed rotor you gotta stick with Hope! -Tor
Dont froget the best piston i have ever seen its a big upgrade to the tech 3. The brake pistons are split in two, so that you no longer have pistons that are stuck like on the tech 3. and the tech 3 can be upgraded with the new pistons. The pistons are made of aluminum on the outside and filled with the piston on the inside. This is the best upgrade to the Tech 3.
@@derekfoster9357 You can simply buy the Tech 4 lever and use it for the Tech 3. That's no problem, for the most part only the master cylinder has been revised and the pistons on the caliper have only been replaced by hybrid pistons. It has now only been re-lasered. For example, this is the number for a lever HBSPC80RS
The green (race) pads have the most power/bite out of all of the pads. They also make the least amount of noise and are incredibly fade resistant but as stated in the video not recommended for damp conditions. I've had a few close calls with a just slight drizzle.
@@TheMTBRider96 They stop working in the wet. Fine if you live somewhere dry but in the UK, gold or red pads are the minimum. I've gotten away with just a gold pad in the front and it's so good.
I live in Scotland where it’s constantly wet, and I’ve never ever had an issue with green pads in the wet, absolutely no difference in power at all… I run green pads all year round or purple ebike pads if I’ve run out of green.
$900. I will have to pass on this one. I ran two piston OEM brakes on my full suspension bike for a long time and that bike was like 35 pounds and we did a lot of rough and crazy downhill and similar terrain and I was just fine. Of course 4 piston higher end brakes worked better but these stopped me.
We talked about that in the video and they definitely aren't for everyone! You can spend hundreds of dollars less and get a super similarly performing brake setup, but there's something special about that Hope quality 🤤 -Tor
Actually, the prices aren't that different. The 900 includes the vented rotors, which are 164 each. It's 'only' 580 for a pair of levers and calipers. You can use them with any rotors.
Love hope, you pay for extraordinary quality and craftsmanship... But. Just using extremely cheap amazon floating rotors would yield enormous improvements to any braking system. Their calipers and levers have no specific optimization or tech that's revolutionary, floating rotors are a proven effective solution used for decades on motorbikes of all kinds. 😜
Love hope but not their brakes. Tech4 has virtually all the same issues as the last set, leaking seals, inconsistent performance and just requiring constant adjustment.1/10 seem to get a set that works perfectly but the percentage of these coming through our shop for the same issues is far more than any other brand imo. Had 2 sets of tech 3 e4’s and a set of tech 4 v4’s.
Well, the paid laudatory review, just rewind to 5:33. Are you serious? Satisfaying sound? Man what a?? The brakes look significantly worse than their predecessors in design. They are bulky. In reality, milling the handle can have sharp edges that can cause discomfort. It's on your luck, maybe would have it with each specific brake, maybe not, but! Brakes from other manufacturers won't have this problem, they always have smooth brake handles. Okay, let's skip this point, what about BPC adjustment? It just doesn't work! You turn in any direction and you don't feel any changes, exactly 0. For that price? Believe me or not, in web have no information about hope bpc explanation, how it works... There is also no pad contact adjustment as on the SRAM RSC. Metal hydraulic line? To what? In 95% of cases, there is a hidden wiring of hydraulic lines on the frames. It just doesn't make sense. Truly overrated hope brand products. I'm not talking about hope pro huba that had factory defective bearings. Congrats 😂😂😂
I don't share hope enthusiasm. I serviced many hope hubs from different generations. Product made in UK should incorporate weatherproofness - and they don't. Sealing is very bad, bearings , manufactured by hope, don't last any longer than cheap alternatives. And the rear hope hub is the only one I have ever seen which suffered from completely corroded and falling apart freehub. I have been running cheap Chinese hubs that cost 20% of the hope RRP and they can survive more abuse than any hope.
Magura mt5 are good as long as you didn't try other modern brakes because they objectively lack power, even the MT7 aren't that great you can't lock a 29 wheel with 203 rotors as easily as with saints or mavens

I have them with 203 shimano ice rotors and they are still stupid strong. No need for thicker rotors at all. Saints are nowhere close performance wise.

I've owned the tech 3 x2, tech 3 e4, and a tech 4 e4. A good bleed is critical. I found the best way to bleed them is to take the caliper all the way off the bike, crack the bleed port a half turn, and use a syringe and hose to push fluid up to the open lever reservoir while rotating the caliper around in your hand. Replace lever cap and clean everything. I do that I on initial set up and do not need to touch the bleed again for at least a year.
Had nothing but problems with my front tech 4 v4s. They were fine for a season but the front’s bite point wanders halfway down a bike park lap. Would be half an inch out at bite point at the start of a lap, and at the end they’d be hitting my knuckle. I used both adjustments to alleviate this but still didn’t solve this. Put the new hope brake mounts and new rotors same issue. Rear brake has been fine surprisingly. Took ages to get hope to honor their warranty and send me a new master cylinder. I hope that fixes the issue after this weekend at the bike park.

@8:27 that car trick for me is the best one. i bleed brakes for almost 17 years, even today i have bleeding kits for multiple brakes, i still use that trick for the newest brakes out there like saint, xtr, code, mt5/7. i only use the cup of the bleeding kit and that trick. ofc you spend more oil, but its flawless.

I run both XTR and XT brakes on my rides however, I run the HOPE rotors with both the Shimano brake systems and the performance difference and rotor life is well worth the extra price for the rotors! HOPE makes some of the finest stuff out there...just one rides opinion!!!
You’re not using the hope v four rotors though, because your brake pads would have to be so thin
I have been on the Hayes A4's for years now and love them to bits... dang I wish those 3.3mm calipers would fit ;)
I would suggest for most people the E4 is the better caliper. It follows the current trend in motorcycles for smaller pistons (e.g. M50, Stylema, Hypure, etc.) for better control when paired with a smaller piston in the master cylinder.

I often hear in videos of Tech4V4s this annoing high squeaking noise? Did you get rid of it or is it still there?

High performance brakes and pads squeal, that’s just a by-product of what they do. My car has full Brembo setup and they squeal too.
You can try dampen the vibrations which cause the squeal by adding grease between the piston and pad but all you’re going to do is attract dirt build up behind the pads and gum up the pistons and create stiction.
The hope video says to bleed the rear brake off the bike keeping the caliper low to help with trapped air

I have the road rx4 calipers and whilst well made the clearance to the disc is very fine so if you have the slightest bend on a disc you get rub.
I would never undercut Hope customer service or parts, but Magura adapters are also compatible with Hope clearance requirements in my experience if needed in a pinch
Also 220 shimano adapters too, just used them to install on my Orbea Wild at the rear.

Potentially sometime in the future! We're going to revisit the Mavens first, as it sounds like we might have gotten a faulty set in our initial review. But those Cura brakes are super interesting and I'd love to try a set out!

Sounds like the ideal brakes would be a hybrid of Hope and Hayes. Both have good power and modulation, but Hopes are expensive and the Dominion A4s have no usable bite point adjustment (and in my experience, are a pain to bleed without getting rotor rub and/or a too-long throw). Could we use a Tech 4 lever with Dominion A4 calipers? Saves a bit of cash, gets better adjustment and an easier bleed process, and looks better.
The air in the system is just because you bled them without the kit. Personally I use the Hope bleed kit top cap and then screw in a SRAM bleeding edge tool into that and then on the caliper I connect another syringe and force it through the system. A couple of lever pulls and there's no air. No spongy feeling.
Do you push the fluid up via the caliper?

I'm a 107kg guy. Unsurprisingly my Deore XT 180mm brakes (2caliper) feel a little underpowered. Does it make sense to buy brakes like these for an XC bike for riding on relatively flat terrain? Feels liek a bit of an overkill...
Just get larger rotors to start.
Make sure you're using semi metallic pads and a decent rotor. I"m similar weight, and on my xc I upsized to a 200mm rotor on the front (though not strictly necessary). Galfer or hope rotors (non vented) have good bite. I had to clearance my xt caliper with a dremel to not rub on the hope rotor - you may not be comfortable doing this.

Don't listen to people that tell you that you can't put V4 Vented Rotors on Tech 4 E4 brakes. I have.
The v4 rotors are 3.3mm, normal floating are 1.8mm. They will fit the e4 but either rub or your brake will feel poo. I’m sure you’ll say it works perfectly but I’ve seen it through our shop many times and they’re always terrible. You don’t understand the difference in the e4/v4 caliper.

Good Question. Actualy its the other way around. Hope recommends by use of normal rotors (1.8 mm) to re fill the lever reservoir offer the first touch of pads on the rotor to compensate for the extra travel the pistons had to take. So to keep the same lever feel the system needs a bit more oil with the normal rotors then with the vented ones.
So many youtubers talking about ebike weight... but rider weight difference (say a 70kg rider vs 90kg) is much bigger than a BIKE vs Ebike

I run Shigura on all of my bikes and Ive been tempted to switch but then ai hear this nonsense about a squishy lever, and needing bleeds quite often from air and contamination, and the fact they use DOT fluid…. I’ll stick with my Shiguras as well. So far they have been literally perfect on all three bikes Ive installed them on.

Same, had the older Tech 3 V4 and the shigura is just miles more powerful, Hopes need a bit more effort for full power

idk man I still like the on/off of Shimano. Maybe because I use them exclusively on pavement. I even got Stainless lines for my Shimanos to be more on/off. I'm looking forward to those leaked NEW SAINTS, idk I'f yall have seen those. The brake line going towards the bar is super nice.
These are the only brakes I would consider replacing my MT5s with, but the full set cost 160 euros with discs. It would be hard to justify.
Mt5s are one of my favourite brakes, and I use hope brakes so don't worry about it. It'll be more of a side grade anyway
Shimano Saints?
They look really great but they are absolutely shocking to run on a DH bike. I have just sold my set that I ran for 1.5 years with the 220 vented rotors. I had nothing but problems. Constantly fading, inconsistent lever feel and required constant maintenance like bleeding. I spoke to two members of Hope Staff in Morzine this summer who said there is a “unofficial” issue with the master cylinder. Also they added that it needs a full bleed whenever the pads are changed. Overall I was really disappointed.

Very true! We tried to squeeze them in a TRP DHR and a Hayes Dominion caliper with exactly 0 success. If you want that double stuffed rotor you gotta stick with Hope!

Dont froget the best piston i have ever seen its a big upgrade to the tech 3. The brake pistons are split in two, so that you no longer have pistons that are stuck like on the tech 3. and the tech 3 can be upgraded with the new pistons. The pistons are made of aluminum on the outside and filled with the piston on the inside. This is the best upgrade to the Tech 3.
You can upgrade parts of the Tech 3 lever with Tech 4 bits? I have Tech 3s and they are way too weak.
@@derekfoster9357 You can simply buy the Tech 4 lever and use it for the Tech 3. That's no problem, for the most part only the master cylinder has been revised and the pistons on the caliper have only been replaced by hybrid pistons. It has now only been re-lasered. For example, this is the number for a lever HBSPC80RS
The green (race) pads have the most power/bite out of all of the pads. They also make the least amount of noise and are incredibly fade resistant but as stated in the video not recommended for damp conditions. I've had a few close calls with a just slight drizzle.

@@TheMTBRider96 They stop working in the wet. Fine if you live somewhere dry but in the UK, gold or red pads are the minimum. I've gotten away with just a gold pad in the front and it's so good.

I live in Scotland where it’s constantly wet, and I’ve never ever had an issue with green pads in the wet, absolutely no difference in power at all… I run green pads all year round or purple ebike pads if I’ve run out of green.

$900. I will have to pass on this one. I ran two piston OEM brakes on my full suspension bike for a long time and that bike was like 35 pounds and we did a lot of rough and crazy downhill and similar terrain and I was just fine. Of course 4 piston higher end brakes worked better but these stopped me.
We talked about that in the video and they definitely aren't for everyone! You can spend hundreds of dollars less and get a super similarly performing brake setup, but there's something special about that Hope quality 🤤

Actually, the prices aren't that different. The 900 includes the vented rotors, which are 164 each. It's 'only' 580 for a pair of levers and calipers. You can use them with any rotors.

Just using extremely cheap amazon floating rotors would yield enormous improvements to any braking system.
Their calipers and levers have no specific optimization or tech that's revolutionary, floating rotors are a proven effective solution used for decades on motorbikes of all kinds.

Love hope but not their brakes. Tech4 has virtually all the same issues as the last set, leaking seals, inconsistent performance and just requiring constant adjustment.1/10 seem to get a set that works perfectly but the percentage of these coming through our shop for the same issues is far more than any other brand imo. Had 2 sets of tech 3 e4’s and a set of tech 4 v4’s.
Well, the paid laudatory review, just rewind to 5:33. Are you serious? Satisfaying sound? Man what a?? The brakes look significantly worse than their predecessors in design. They are bulky. In reality, milling the handle can have sharp edges that can cause discomfort. It's on your luck, maybe would have it with each specific brake, maybe not, but! Brakes from other manufacturers won't have this problem, they always have smooth brake handles.
Okay, let's skip this point, what about BPC adjustment? It just doesn't work! You turn in any direction and you don't feel any changes, exactly 0. For that price?

There is also no pad contact adjustment as on the SRAM RSC.

In 95% of cases, there is a hidden wiring of hydraulic lines on the frames. It just doesn't make sense. Truly overrated hope brand products. I'm not talking about hope pro huba that had factory defective bearings. Congrats 😂😂😂

I don't share hope enthusiasm. I serviced many hope hubs from different generations. Product made in UK should incorporate weatherproofness - and they don't. Sealing is very bad, bearings , manufactured by hope, don't last any longer than cheap alternatives. And the rear hope hub is the only one I have ever seen which suffered from completely corroded and falling apart freehub. I have been running cheap Chinese hubs that cost 20% of the hope RRP and they can survive more abuse than any hope.
Say what you want you are getting pay to advertise, they absolutely suck, magura mt5 are way better and half of the price, 100% overrated
Magura mt5 are good as long as you didn't try other modern brakes because they objectively lack power, even the MT7 aren't that great you can't lock a 29 wheel with 203 rotors as easily as with saints or mavens

I have them with 203 shimano ice rotors and they are still stupid strong. No need for thicker rotors at all. Saints are nowhere close performance wise.
