A fierce advocate of civil rights, President Akufo-Addo entered politics in protest to a series of human rights violations in Ghana. Elected to the Presidency as a champion of economic renewal, he has tackled corruption and overseen constitutional reform. His recent refusal to allow a US military base to be built on Ghanaian soil has been seen by many as a bold statement of national sovereignty.
ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.

I love how you thought this was a compliment but is deeply rooted in racism. So your automatic reaction to an African leader is distrust? Is that the same attitude you adopt when you see a European leader? Get out here with your racism. Africa doesn’t have to prove itself to you or please you.

This President isn’t just talk talk. He was elected in 2017 with around ~55% Votes. He come from Center-Right party.
Is there one infrastructure that never fails it is roads. This president haven’t just started a new high way some place, he started a massive road infrastructure across the whole nation. That is not under planning, but is currently being buildt. He also have made multiple schools already. Electricity is free if you use less then X amouth a month, same with water. That will garantee the poor have access. The best thing is, He made a very advanced high tech Airport that is fast. Now, people will probably go to Ghana more often, as they turn into the most modern africa country.
Another thing is that Ghana was the first african country to join the Norwegian state-run course called oil for development (OfD). Here is a short copy and paste of what OfD is. «Oil and gas play an important role in an increasing number of developing countries, and has the potential to generate economic and social development. In several cases, however, it has proven difficult to translate the resource into improved welfare for citizens of those countries.
Norway continues to receive numerous requests from countries that wish to learn from our experience in petroleum management, which is why the Government of Norway initiated the Oil for Development (OfD) Programme in 2005.
Through the OfD Programme, Norway shares its experience from more than four decades of managing oil and gas resources. Some key characteristics of the Norwegian experience are:
strategic ownership by the state, strong and competent institutions
continual accumulation of technical knowledge, an advanced regulatory system with high respect for the environment, health and safety
the society’s determination to secure national control over petroleum resources»
Dont forget this, building of at least one factory in each of Ghana’s 216 districts. This president is great, and I hope he wins upcoming election. The countries growth with 6% and will continue in right directions.

Twenty-five years ago Ghana and South Korea had similar GDP and problems. South Korea decided to radically improve the health and education of all of its citizens and create a new future that would allow it to develop new growth opportunities and compete globally. It has been successful and Ghana remained underdeveloped. Nana is meticulously following South Korea’s strategies, but in an African way, which I hope will be equally successful. Nana also wants to break free from the strong influence of France and now the EU who want Ghana to remain as a form of colony. Nana is so right on so many issues and must be strong, since France will try to maintain the status quo. Transparency with strong legal structures will help Ghana to succeed. Good luck...💪🐬

    • @pneron2032
      @pneron2032 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Firstly, Ghana was never a French colony. Secondly, South Korea had certain advantages: it has a single ethnic group, a single language, it was already literate, no serious religious divisions, no insane primitive superstitions (witches, albinos). Africa can only develop up to a limit if it does not eradicate its substantial cultural backwardness.

    • @jcacjcac2919

@@pneron2032 yea so nothing you said was true. But that's typical of whites. The national language in Ghana is twi, which is spoken at on all levels alongside english.
South korea "developed" because they decided to a US vassal state. Without the mass amount of money from the US, South Korea wouldn't be where it is today. On the other hand the CIA got Nkrumah out along with neighbors in other countries. So we have different situations but you managed to promote some idiotic stereotypes

    • @2smoulder

P Neron I never said Ghana was a French colony, rather it was treated as one by France then the EU. Also South Korea had serious issues with its population to solve and territorial neighbours like North Korea, China and Japan. The decisions its Govt made were further supported by its “We” culture as citizens recognised that the changes were necessary for its future well being. If it is to make the right changes Ghana must tackle its ‘bad’ traditions like witchcraft and support the rule of law. This will be tough, but necessary.
