When the security council is unable to do its job due to veto, the general assembly can and should call an emergency session and pass what needs to be passed without allowing a veto. The US has used this in the past to evade vetos wielded by others. It would take some guts to apply it against the US, because retaliation could be expected, but it's an option.

When the security council is unable to do its job due to veto, the general assembly can and should call an emergency session and pass what needs to be passed without allowing a veto. The US has used this in the past to evade vetos wielded by others. It would take some guts to apply it against the US, because retaliation could be expected, but it's an option.
