i dont mean to be off topic but does someone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost the login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me
Reggie is the best. I wish you and him did every video. I appreciate people who know what they are talking about with video game history and information.
its been cool watching ur channel grow so much over the years, you seem like a really good guy and everytime I hear your name brought up with other you tubers i hear nothing but good things. you've got a lot of respect in the community, another great video. love reggie too
"Notes" pages in manuals are usually there because the printing process required a certain number of pages for the cutting/stapling to work, but sometimes there just isn't content for that many pages.
Yeah, I love those PAL cases :3 Don't be jealous about 5-10 exclusive games us Europeans got, you guys got lots of fantastic JRPGs that we never got! Still looking for so many of them and shipping plus taxes (on eBay at least) is so expensive T-T
The reason we had larger cases is because European versions of games very often had language options included in the build that's burnt on the disc (usually EFIGS - English, French, Italian, German & Spanish). Therefore the manuals also have to include all the language variants so they're much thicker - too thick to also act as the front artwork as well. This is true for cartridge games as well but they usually came in cardboard boxes anyway so it doesn't really matter how thick the manual is.
Dont get to excited with the PAL cases, they do break pretty easily. And u cant replace them as easily as u can with a blank cd case. But i still like them better ;-)
Have to confess, I do love the PAL cases for PS1 games. Brought a few of mine with me when I moved to the States from England. Amazingly they are still intact. :-)
Man, everytime I see Reggie I am always super happy. While you have a lot of cool guests, he definitely is the coolest of them all. Hope to see more of him in the future, maybe an own mini series?;)
Maybe kind of late but have you seen PAL-Region Dreamcast games? Most of the NTSC cases I see look like regular jewel cases and we got those thick (0.8+ in) special Dreamcast-branded cases that are meant to hold multiple discs even if the release only had one. And they fit a pretty thick manual, usually around 130 -150 pages.
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! You've helped me so much when it comes to deciding which systems and games to get. And I love how entertaining and genuine you guys are when it comes to presenting the material. My hats off to both of you and a very big thanks. Like I said whenever I'm considering a new system or new game it's like second nature to come here first and see what MetalJesus and Reggie have to say first. Its almost a religion!
Reggie is such a cool dude. He's also come a long way from when he first started on your channel. He seems really comfortable in front of the camera now.
Man Crisisbeat, i’ve been trying to find the name of this game for many MANY years. I played it a lot with my friends back when i was 9 or maybe 10 years old, god this brings back so many good memories. That’s why i love this channel and this whole hidden gems series, thanks a lot guys!
Back in NES days when you rented a game the notes pages on instruction book were usually filled with other peoples passwords, tips and tricks. That was awesome!
Reggie is cool, I learn tons of stuff when you too are on. I owned an Atari when I was like ten. My best buds had an Amiga. And I played Team 17 games at their houses. Along with Psygnosis they were the masters of the machine and the computer gaming world at the time. Project X was quite a big deal when it came out, cause the graphisms came out of nowhere. Console cutlure seem to overshadow it but it was definitely something on the technical side. Didn't know there was a sequel. On the Playstation! Game hunting time.
+dimitriid The Unofficial patch is the only way to play that game. It is so good, one of my favorites, but broken without the patch. So much replay value.
Love your videos, keep it up, guys! FYI about the notes pages in manuals: when printing, you have to have an even number of a set number of pages. If there isn't enough content to fill an even number of pages, publishers added "notes" pages at the end simply to fill out the blank pages at the end and even out the numbers. I don't think anyone really expected you to put down the controller and scribble notes in your manual!
Dude, thanks so much for mentioning Pu-Li-Ru-La! I could of sworn that I have heard of it before, and then I remembered that PBG made a top ten that had it in it years ago. Im gonna go and try to find it now!
Great video guys, and a cracking selection there Reggie! Nekketsu Oyako (Hot-Blooded Family) is one I'm after on the Saturn , but it's pricey. Never heard of that Panzer Bandit, looks awesome. The reason that PAL PS1 cases are so large is that they had to fit really thick manuals in, as they have to be multilingual in Europe. Some of them are crazy thick!
1:31 Hey Reggie I'm glad you picked up the AVGeo games they are awesome specially the 2nd I played it so much, the stories of the girls are interesting (cheesy in a way but cool old school JP stuff!) and got me attached to them even if I didn't understand everything and had to use a FAQ translation to learn about the characters. Very underrated 2D fighting games. 3:17 Panzer Bandit, awesome game, good choice, is definitely an underrated gem.
As a RPG addict, I'll recommend a few obscure Japanese RPGs. - Spectral Blade (Fans of the monster catching subgenre can try out Densetsu Kemono no Ana, the two games share an identical battle system.) - Kuroi Hitomi no Noir - Maru Oukoku no Ningyou Hime 2 - Kaeru No Ehon - Oasis Road - Linda Cube Again
PuLiRuLa is one of the best games of all time. The animation style and just the things you see...definitely the stand out beat em up game. MetalJesus should play this one through himself if he hasn't
I really appreciated this video. I feel like I already posted this, but feel I have to post again, I just got a hold of a green debug PS One because I collect green systems....because I like green...because I'm a damn child. ANYWAY. I've had quite an annoying time tracking down decent lists of import PS1, 2, and Saturn stuff. Even if these videos drive up the value of some titles, you guys always help me track down some stuff I never would have otherwise heard of. It's always a blast playing a game that's brand new to me on old systems.
Crisisbeat and VG advanced 1 & 2, I've been playing those games since my chilhood and I was really excited when you guys showed them :) . Also, I got Chaos Break the past year but I haven't found time to play it. Anyways great video and very very cool games you came up with Reggie.
When I went to Paris, it was a MUST to buy a few games over there. If anybody goes to Paris, the street with the gaming stores is Voltaire Boulevard and just south of Place de la République. All the games stores are there.
The notes in the back of the manual were there, so we could be able to write down passwords, and cheat codes. Basically keeps everything in one place, instead of using loose papers.
Another good European/PAL only game for PS1 is Discworld Noir. A point & click adventure game where you play as Detective Lewton that lives in Ankh-Morphokh and solves a chain of murders. It has the trademark humour of Discworld series too. One of my favourite parts is a character lampooning Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider series. :D
Great list! Got a few more games to add to my collection now. Also, you should try the original "Tombi" PS1 game its a really nice game with a nostalgic element even if you haven't played it before; and it has colourful vibrant levels. It's one of my favourites. It's quite scarce to get hold of but well worth it if you can find it for the right price! It's a PAL game.
this is so interesting. I've always been jealous of what you guys get over there but when you turn the tables I see all these games at carboots on a regular basis, mad to think that !
RMGB TV I have the Japanese version on PS1 and it's one of the rare games that are buggy when played on a PS2. I didn't tried on a PS3 since I do not have a Japanese PS3. Is it the same with the PAL version?
There were a ton of shmups released here in Europe late in the PS2's lifespan as budget titles. Steel Dragon EX, Homura, Gunbird, Psyvariar, Castle of Shikigami 2. You can find most of them pretty cheap still.
I just love the music on the last blade and that CD has a bunch of extras of music, vocals and little videos with combos. you should say that just cause is weird get those extra bonus omake in CD games
so nostalgic video! I remember when I was a kid here in brazil playing SNES and PS1 games, most of them in JP version, i don't know how I could beat some of those games at the time LOL. I got this CrisisBeat one of my few ps1 games. Really good game for those who love Beat'em Up! good job +MetalJesusRocks
Terracon is a PAL only game I haven't seen anyone mention. It's a 3rd person shooter where you play as the last survivor of an alien race. It had amazing graphics for a PS1 game.
As you said in the end of the video, it really goes both ways. Since I'm from Europe, I have imported games such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Chrono Cross from US. But, I have to say that I'm happy being a PAL collector, because PS1 PAL covers looks so much better than US NTSC ;)
I remember playing Pulirula with friends via MAME, short, wacky, and fun! Hell Night is also a favorite of mine... I don't really know why, but I like it.
The Last Blade basically got surpassed by its sequel so SNK and the fanbase exclusively cater to it in the Arcade and tourney scene. Thanks for putting me onto Crisis Beat especially out of everything here Reggie. I definitely need to seek it out as the PS1 era was a dark age for beat em ups as not many came out and then the few that were available weren't very good either.
The "other" book in Pulirula is a players guide, it even has cheats for free play, small or big sprites, and some other cheats. I have it on Saturn and got it when it was around $40, both PS1 and Saturn versions are high due to limited press run (the Arcade Gears titles are all like this, all 4 of them). I also have all 4 of the PS2 Taito Memories collections that has Pulirula among the 100 total arcade titles.
You guys should check out Rapid Reload. It's a 2D sidescrolling shooter and one of the launch titles for the PS1 in Europe. Apparently the studio behind this game made Wild Arms!
+MetalJesusRocks I've gotta say man your so good at what you do! I love watching ur videos cause I started my old school game collection a few years back and now I'm collecting some unique and different stuff and these hidden gem vids are great! I even got a Japanese ps2 and its like this vid catered to me!😂 Love ya man keep up the good work!!
Episodes with Reggie are usually the ones I tune in for the most. Dude really picks out the kind of obscure titles I like to see.
Totally agree! I discovered so many cool games becacuse of him.
Reggie picks the best games because he smokes weed.
lol yeah, this guy is cool as fuck. Great picks.
i dont mean to be off topic but does someone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb lost the login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me
@Anson Zakai Instablaster :)
Reggie is the best. I wish you and him did every video. I appreciate people who know what they are talking about with video game history and information.
Thanks! When you love these games, their really easy to talk about
An Atlus game that only came out in Europe
WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?
Love when Reggie is on.
its been cool watching ur channel grow so much over the years, you seem like a really good guy and everytime I hear your name brought up with other you tubers i hear nothing but good things. you've got a lot of respect in the community, another great video. love reggie too

Thanks for the shout out Reggie !!! I'm glad I can help out fella
I haven't heard of a couple of those. Awesome list. Panzer Bandit rules!
Riggs!!!
Panzer Bandit was my jam, baby. I'm dedicated my channel to post all characters playthrough except for Shiden and Big Farado (These 2 SUCKS BALLS)
HELLNIGHT!! I've owned this game for years, but never heard of anyone else who's played it!
I have it!! :-)
I played it last tuesday
***** got mine last year intersting game
***** It's a great Survival Horror game, feels a lot like the indie "hide and seek" horror games that are really popular these days.
Yeah, I mean this game was like Amnesia or Alien Isolation, but 15 years ahead of it's time!
The reason we had larger cases is because European versions of games very often had language options included in the build that's burnt on the disc (usually EFIGS - English, French, Italian, German & Spanish). Therefore the manuals also have to include all the language variants so they're much thicker - too thick to also act as the front artwork as well. This is true for cartridge games as well but they usually came in cardboard boxes anyway so it doesn't really matter how thick the manual is.
reggie always dropping gems never fails to impress
I try to bring games that you guys might like. Glad I'm succeeding
Radical Reggie yea I respect your taste in games sir haha good shit as always
But… But MJR brings the hair wig!
Those look like some badass games!
Dont get to excited with the PAL cases, they do break pretty easily. And u cant replace them as easily as u can with a blank cd case. But i still like them better ;-)
Crisis Beat, yes!!! I love that game! My brother and I used to beat it together all the time when we were kids.
Hope to see more of him in the future, maybe an own mini series?;)
always a pleasure to see Reggie on the channel!
MetalJesus and Reggie, one of my favorite duo's of this channel!
Thank you MJR & Reggie for introducing me to some new Beat'em ups, and 2D Fighters that I haven't played yet/heard of.

Learned a lot about these hidden retro game gems. Thank you MJR and Reggie. You've earned a subscriber.
Reggie is such a cool dude. He's also come a long way from when he first started on your channel. He seems really comfortable in front of the camera now.
Metal Jesus, one of the few TH-camrs who really hit the nail on the had when it comes to vids I want to watch. keep up the ace work dude.
*head*
It's a credit to Reggie that you can see as the years go on how his confidence has grown in presentation
Man Crisisbeat, i’ve been trying to find the name of this game for many MANY years. I played it a lot with my friends back when i was 9 or maybe 10 years old, god this brings back so many good memories.

Vampire Bloodlines! I just started another playthrough talk about a hidden gem, with the unofficial patch it runs great damn good game too
+dimitriid The Unofficial patch is the only way to play that game. It is so good, one of my favorites, but broken without the patch. So much replay value.
+dimitriid I still need to beat my Toreador playthrough.
Reggie is an awesome guest! He has really loosened up and now it feels very natural. Cool video guys!
I have to say I love reggie videos, the man is so passionate about his games.
Panzer Bandit on PS1 is legit, bought it digitally on the Japanese PSN. Always love it when you have Reggie over, cool guy and great tastes in vidya.
Love your videos, keep it up, guys! FYI about the notes pages in manuals: when printing, you have to have an even number of a set number of pages. Always interesting when this dude Reggie is on the show. Never seen almost all these before - wow.
Thank you! As an import collector myself, these videos alyways give me some new leads on great imports that somehow slipped past me.👍
you guys really missed out on the thicker PS1 cases we got over here in UK, europe and Japan, those boxes are super iconic to me :)
+SidiousRed The thicker cases are designed to stop bullets and knives in case players attempt real life beatemups in subways or amusement parks.
i love it when Reggie joins the show!!
Reggie = Best MJ Guest
James Bond Its a tie between Kinsey and Reggie.
Dude, thanks so much for mentioning Pu-Li-Ru-La! I could of sworn that I have heard of it before, and then I remembered that PBG made a top ten that had it in it years ago. Im gonna go and try to find it now!

I've been enjoying all of your import videos. I hope there's still more to come!
As a RPG addict, I'll recommend a few obscure Japanese RPGs.
- Spectral Blade (Fans of the monster catching subgenre can try out Densetsu Kemono no Ana, the two games share an identical battle system.)
- Kuroi Hitomi no Noir
- Maru Oukoku no Ningyou Hime 2
- Kaeru No Ehon
- Oasis Road
- Linda Cube Again
I never would of imagined an octopus wearing boxing gloves. Mind blown.
PuLiRuLa is one of the best games of all time. The animation style and just the things you see...definitely the stand out beat em up game. MetalJesus should play this one through himself if he hasn't

When I went to Paris, it was a MUST to buy a few games over there. If anybody goes to Paris, the street with the gaming stores is Voltaire Boulevard and just south of Place de la République. All the games stores are there.
This is the first video I watched from this channel, and it made me subscribe. I love playing obscure videogame gems
Glad your shedding some light on imported PS1 games. I played most of these a decade ago, great choice!
reggie is great! always such interesting stuff
i love the reactions you guys have to pal games about how thick the cases are etc
I miss these episodes. Please do another one with Reggie!
I love Fridays, Metal always has something very awesome to watch!
Carnage Heart was a hidden gem, the graphics for the time as well... just superb
The notes in the back of the manual were there, so we could be able to write down passwords, and cheat codes. Basically keeps everything in one place, instead of using loose papers.
Yes! I love it when Reggie's on the show.

reggie seems so much more natural in front of the camera now, awesome seeing his progress!
Another great review of PS one games, Reggie you know your stuff man!
Love Reggie and his channel
this is so interesting. I've always been jealous of what you guys get over there but when you turn the tables I see all these games at carboots on a regular basis, mad to think that !
MetalJesusRocks yess!!!! i have been waiting for this!!!! yay for more Reggie eps!!
Great video - Reggie is indeed a great co-host!
How this Chaos Break did not sell a lot is beyond comprehension. It seems very cool.
I feel the same way. I was just scutes to get a sealed copy of it
Thumbs up for Crisis Beat! You're missing out on Overblood 2.
I got overblood, 1 and 2. Saving them for another vid
The game that X2 was the sequel to is Project X.
RMGB TV I have the Japanese version on PS1 and it's one of the rare games that are buggy when played on a PS2. I didn't tried on a PS3 since I do not have a Japanese PS3. Is it the same with the PAL version?
I have a japanese account, but I just wondered about the physical copy on a PS3 since I already owned it.
RMGB TV I've got the X2 soundtrack from Bjorn "dr. Awesome" Lynne. Awesome artist btw.
***** I just checked the JP PS Store and didn't find it? You saw it?
Games hard as hell and I've got a million shooters. Well that's perhaps a slight exaggeration but still quite a few
There were a ton of shmups released here in Europe late in the PS2's lifespan as budget titles. Steel Dragon EX, Homura, Gunbird, Psyvariar, Castle of Shikigami 2. You can find most of them pretty cheap still.
I agree with Reggie last blade needs to be at the tournaments. it's my favorite fighter and have been playing it since neogeo arcade
Seriously that's what she said 11:43. Great video! I'm pretty unfamiliar with many PAL exclusives.
I always watch your vids man, especially when Reggie is around. You guys rock.
I just love the music on the last blade and that CD has a bunch of extras of music, vocals and little videos with combos. you should say that just cause is weird get those extra bonus omake in CD games
crisisbeat is THE SHIT. Uses to play that it back in Vietnam.
so nostalgic video!
Everytime I watch Reggie, I play a game: whenever he says "basically", I drink; whenever he says "something", I drink twice. It's fun!

Actually picked up Hellnight a year back for abou $10, here in Norway. Haven't been able to try it out yet, though.
Poy Poy 2 was a fantastic game that never saw a US release. The first was available there but not the second.
You guys should check out Rapid Reload. It's a 2D sidescrolling shooter and one of the launch titles for the PS1 in Europe. Apparently the studio behind this game made Wild Arms!
Yeah, I wanted to add that game to the vid, but I couldn't find a copy of the PAL version
Radical Reggie Japanese version is called Gunners Heaven and is much cheaper
Yeah, but the English version would be ideal
great to see reggie. thanks for the vid MJ
A really great PAL and JPN exclusive is the PS1 Wipeout 3 Special Edition. Lots more tracks and features in that one.
I barely glanced at the thumbnail and thought metal jesus was kissing reggie on the cheek
You guys make collecting fun I'm gonna miss this when games go all digital
What a great selection of games! Saturn and PS1 received some awesome 2d games that rarely anyone mention.
metal jesus, great vids always. tobal 2 has got to be, in my opinion, the ultimate import ps1 game
Thank you for these videos, they are really fun.
I got a friend in Japan who helps me out with imports glad i grew up there when i was younger.
Dude... dude.
That t-shirt.
Maximum respect
The PAL books are thick mainly due to containing multiple languages
Hello MetalJ, long time watcher, love your stuff but I also love Reggie's content. Does Reggie have his own TH-cam Channel
Here ya go
I saw "PS1" and "Japanese"on the title AND a Masquerade Bloodlines shirt. I just had to like immediately.
