      I suspect that many were rediscothen for their numismatic value. I lined up with others to break the Hunt brothers. It was actually smart to cash in even if I was about 25. I git a better price then, than I would now that I’m 69. Such a strange event. I planted 1000 tulips this fall. That’s not a great investment anymore but ut the classic economics story.

    I just bought 5 rolls of mercs for $108 ea and I completely agree. For the price, as a fractional bartering tool, the beauty of the design, there are fewer slicks than other coins from the same era, and the fact you can pick them up as cheap as the less desirable constitutional silver, it's #1!

    I would agree mostly with your Tier Rating, perhaps I would the Standing Liberty Quarter in B, and trade the Walking Liberty Half w the Franklin.
    The core of my Coins are Winged Liberty/Mercury Dimes, and Walking Liberty Half Dollars. I do have collections on most everything, except for few Barbers, due to wear you mention, and not many Standing Liberty Quarter, not due to the design, due to wear problems.
    The Peace, and Morgan Silver Dollars, I currently only buy Graded Coins, due to the Counterfeit problems you mention.
    The main problem with Roosevelt Dimes and Washington Quarters is that the the Quarter has been minted from 1932-Present, and the Dime 1946-Present...just a bit boring for Coin Collectors, and most of us do not want to collect the after 1964 Clads.

Half dollars, Franklatoids are my favorite but the 64 Kennedy is a tie because last year of 90% silver which maakes it the least worn pluss i love the presidential seal on it. Favorite quarter is the washington , beutiful eagle design and boasts the first ever president. Mercury dimes are my favorite due to the design . I recently weighed all my junk ... mercs and barber quarters had the most wear by far ... many being under the threshold slack in the FV calculations. Also, SLQ's do not wear well. Really hurts ya on the junk factor. Anything before they changed the relief on the date, and you can't even tell what year it was, once it is circulated enough to consider " junk."

      @@addictedtominisandlovingit3912 You're right.. I think you could make the argument that Morgans/Peace and the Barbers with low wear are numismatic too. Maybe I should have clarified that, I just tried to emphasize "90% silver coins from 20th century". Once the wear is significant enough and the date's gone, they are often treated like junk anyway. In fact, yesterday I just picked up a Seated Liberty Dime from the junk bin!

I wonder if it's just a passing fad? I don't think so, but then again most people don't realize when they're in a fad. I personally love constitutional silver, always will -- just hoping people don't regret buying junk at high premiums only to sell back below spot... Really? Just exactly how many do you come across in your change? Must be a slow VERY VERY SLOW growing stack huh lol man I really wish I would have gotten into this sooner cuz I know even just five or ten years ago you could go coin roll hunting and just look through your change and find exponentially more score's!! I just think about how if my dad who was born in 11 / 7 / 44 would have had the wherewithal to say you know I'm going to just take a dollar every week of silver coins and throw them into this jar or whatever... I don't care how long ago it was or how young or the amount of inflation etc. Even when he was like 10 years old I guarantee he could have just thrown. I'm a week or every two weeks into into a change jar and then ended up leaving it at our place in the mountains or something and forgetting about could you imagine! Or if he did it purposefully and when he was fifteen or twenty years old which twenty years old is when they would have taken silver of circulation for him if you would have known better and thought about it and just stuck a dollar a week or two dollars a week or something change everyday change back then and did it for what 20-30 years he still could have found silver relatively often just in his everyday change because you always owned businesses so he always had change coming through and I would imagine it would have been relatively easy to find at least a dollar worth of silver coins a week or even two bucks a month or whatever all the way up until what probably the mid-90s or even early 2000s and they've been able to find it relatively easy. Could you imagine what he would have now! I mean even though he was horrible with finances pretty much and it's still working his ass off to this very day if he would have done that he could have easily retired it's crazy to think about

    In 2009 or so when silver was in the $40 range- when you sold junk silver, it didn't go by face but weight.
    If you sold in bulk it got weighed and that was how business was done.
    Just something to keep in mind...

    • @SilverForeverX
      @SilverForeverX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I probably should have addressed that! If the price gets high enough, no doubt that will be the case. It'll be a shame to see the constitutional getting melted again.. What do you think will happen with 35% War Nickels? Assuming the spot price was sufficiently high, do you think the lower purity junk would be in higher demand than today? If so, do those start looking like a better stacking option given the low premiums (if you have the space)?

    • @GardenerEarthGuy
      @GardenerEarthGuy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SilverForeverX
      During that run up- war nickels had absolutely no value for melt.
      Regardless of silver content, you couldn't sell them bulk for melt.
      I'd advise only grabbing MS war nickels and paying way under spot for circulated coins.
      That's what happened last run up when I dropped my entire silver stack at over $40.
      Premium back then was only $1 over spot, so go figure that pretty much one company owns all the online dealers and they are just a shell or franchise.
