I prefer American coins before they had actual people on them, you can tell that the founding generations purposely avoided putting presidents on currency, i think Washington would be pissed hes on the quarter

I live in the uk and pre 1992 pennies (1p & 2p) are 97% copper. Worth me putting aside?

I bought graded, slabbed silver for my eight little grandchildren for the year they were born. I’m hoping they’ll keep them for at least 70-80 years or leave to their kids. Otherwise, I buy Eagles and Maples

If youre planning on hanging onto silver and gold as a retirement, and not as a way to make a quick buck off it, it stands to reason any 999 silver you get no mater who mints it or what premium you pay will be less than what tou sell it for so far down the road. Thirty years ago, the price of silver by the ounce was less than what the premium is today.

The value of silver doesn't increase enough to make it a valuable growth investment, its more like a bad savings account as far as return on your money. I am collecting for the fun of it and if I get tired of it and want to sell, I can get something out of it as a hobby vs. Just collecting stuff and then giving it away to GoodWill or putting it in the trash. I don't expect to get more back, I expect to enjoy myself and enjoy them as portable pieces of art and one of very few things in tbe world there are not a practically unlimited supply of, ie plastic trash extruded from a machine. Coins have some craftsmanship put into them.
