This year could turn out worse. I lost a lot of money last year as a result of poor investing decisions that I would never have made if I hadn't been so concerned about my portfolio. I wasn't sure whether to keep investing or make mortgage payments. After selling my investments, I discovered that the house required more work than I expected. I'm not sure how long I can go on like this.

Invest in companies that provide current cash flows to diversify your portfolio. I hired a planner at the end of 2023 to enhance my portfolio, and in the last ten months, I've made profits in over fifty different marketplaces. Should 2023 teach us anything, it's that luck doesn't last forever. Even in times of abundance, we should put in more effort to prepare for the worst case scenario.

In 1873 the silver/gold ratio was around 15:1 but a year later after demonetization the ratio had risen to 30:1.
This meant that the elite had effectively doubled their purchasing power relative to the working class people simply by demonetizing silver.

Cheers, Mario! One reason I stack a little platinum, is because it seems mostly outside the machinations of the bankers and government compared to gold and silver. It just wouldn’t be practical for them to focus on control of platinum from an economic point of view. That, and the fact that platinum has similar store-of-value properties to gold, and that it’s very much a spurned asset these days, hence cheap relative to mining costs. Always buy the unloved asset that is needed and intrinsically valuable!

    • @alexkuhnert6856

Correction. Obama and his ministers looked into a 13 Trillion dollar Pt Coin and this was considered as a means to bringing in the US' financial mess back into balance. Bloomberg has published several investigative article on this topic over the last month.
My point? Uncle Sam is actively considering Pt as a monetary metal. Just don't tell them that the Ruskies already thought of that - about a hundred years ago!

90% Silver coins (dimes and quarters), were minted by the U.S. mint, right into May, 1965. LBJ and Congress didn't have the coinage act signed, until 1965. Although the U.S. mint kept minted with silver, all silver coins minted in 1965, had 1964 dates. No Silver coins exist with a 1965 date!

One way they can keep silver down is to make mining easier… just saying that state interests diverging from national is where the inflection points are. Voters need to control their state reps at all levels. California got rich on gold, silver, agriculture, and oil. It has bills to pay as current management tanks the sources of revenue and the weather isn’t helping much either.

There is a lever between gold/silver prices and platinum prices. Often, not always, platinum value moves opposite of the other two.
Can you explain that? Looks to me platinum is used to keep silver prices within some boundaries.
I appreciate your historical back-up of precious metal values, history should prevent future mistakes.

If everyone did not want to hold the present fiat currency notes and bought gold and silver then we would see hyperinflation. So when the people realize their store of wealth is not worth saving then the fiat currency collapses.

Hi! Quick question, especially with the dirty man's safe or something similar. What should I do 'when' the government comes knocking at my door and says "I know you have XXXoz that you have bought since you were a child. You owe us $xxxxx.xx due to unrealized gains." How can I politely let them know I no longer have much/any of that remaining? They wouldn't find any looking - but they will still not believe me and want to get their pound of flesh. thoughts?
