Guys I've just upgraded my 20 years old RC-20 to the new RC-5 and it's a huuuuge improvment. RC-5 has so much features in a small format. That's the pedal I was waiting for. thanks a lot
Hey Boss team. This looks like a dream! I've read the manual and one big concern I have is that it doesn't mention any stop mode options. For example, the ability to double-tap and have it stop when it reaches the end of the loop. I imagine that option is available per memory, but would love to see some confirmation of that. If so, you've got my money!!! :)
here to confirm to anyone else with this question: when the loop is playing double stop pauses playback, the same as it does on a tc electronic ditto looper
I have an RC-1 Loopstation and I was looking for a new looper to upgrade to, preferably the same footprint but with added rhythms... I think just found it!
I have an RC-3 and an RC-5. They are excellent except for one thing..no on/off switch. That means I have to unplug the cable from it when not in use. As I use a Mission 529i rechargeable power supply I can't just leave it connected as with all my other pedal switched off.
I had an RC-50 years ago and just picked up my guitars after years of neglect and remember the joy, today what is the best value for money loop machine?
Hi, your help is very much appreciated. Is there a way to control the drum track on and off with the footswitch. Right now I have to reach down and use the rhythm on/off button. Hoping I can set things up where I can do that on/off function while standing.
Does a Waza Craft version of this exist? Saw one for sale said Waza Craft in the title but nowhere on the pedal itself. Can’t find any info on RC5 Waza Craft. Thanks.
Hello, its very nice that you can select the drum parts ( 1 to 4 ) of which drum sounds are heard or muted on the new rc 5... I own a RC10r loopstation but on that pedal this option is NOt available and it would be a very big improvement if that was introduced in the new software update,,, this because there is a crash cymbal that keeps playing at the end of every drum round and its very anoying after a while, no drummer plays like that and there is no way to switch that of in the current version , that makes moost grooves on the rc10r unusable. Please help !!! Make a update for that option on the rc 10r , thank you
Hi everyone! I have an issue with RC-5 & Rc-505. When using the loopers as midi clock slave devices, synced to Maschine software, there are glitches / artefacts all over the place. BOSS recommends to turn Tempo Sync off for each track to avoid those issues, but this led to another issue (tracks start / skip bars / stop randomly). SO that was not a solution. I have contacted BOSS about this, they said they tested it with Ableton and it works fine, but in general their loopers dont like to be slaved. However, no matter how i put the MIDI settings on the looper, nothing helps. Is this also the case with RC-500?
Yeah same problem. Boss loopers only work with midi if the clock is rock solid. If it drifts at all you will have all kind of issues (in my experience). This is particularly problematic when the clock originates from a computer.
@@random.mandem Yeah, apparently for boss this is a tech that will require 10 more years to nail it hahah I got Aeros Loop Studio and it's working perfectly, never had any issues. I tried the Pigtronix Infinity 2 but it was again problematic, I wonder if Infinity 3 is improved as its a more affordable option.. The Aeros loops studio is quite expensive... Oh and i tried the EHX loopers but also had issues..
Is the the RC-5 able to split the percussion and the guitar output? So my guitar goes to my amp. And the drums go to my PA system. I now have over 6 months playing guitar. And im ready for my first looper. But i dont want the drums playing through my amp. Or is that only available on the RC-10?
Two questions.. (1) Is there a way to set the percussion volume to a level lower than 100 and have it stay in place for all memory positions. It's annoying to have to turn it down on each track. (2) I'm new to looping and as I overdub I frequently mess up and want to delete that over dub. I hold it for two seconds and then try to re-do and it plays what I was trying to redo... Need some clear instruction here... Manuals don't help and I've watched a number of you tube videos and can't get an answer...maybe my thick head?
I own the RC3 and my problem with it is that I need to record a loop and after pressing the pedal the recording has to stop - so I don't want any further recording after creating the first loop. And by pressing the pedal twice the recording stops, but in 90% of all cases you can hear the ending of the loop because most of the times it is almost impossible to push so fast 2 times. The Boss DD8 has a looper and it does that. Push the pedal once and the recording stops. Problem: the DD8 does not save loops. So what about the RC5?
Hi. In interested in this pedal, but isit possible to set - one click recording, next 1 click play and next 1 click stop and erase,........ next 1 click rec new loop, next 1 click play and next 1 click stop and erase -- and so on.(not this gooddamn double tap, its bad for live performances) ? No overdubbing. Isit possible to set up like this ?
I HAVE GOT A PROBLEM. It is impossible to IMPORT OR EXPORT backing tracks. These options do not activate so im not let download anything. I have updated the version but nothing. Have you got any idea about it?
Is it possible to pause a loop ie when a song reaches a different part of song (chorus), and then revert back to the same loop again when finished and start again .
Hello! Let's see if someone can help me, do you know how not to lose the looper recordings when turning it off? Is it necessary to transfer it to the PC so as not to lose it? I have an RC-5 looper. THANK YOU
I would like the same basic drums pattern as the "POP> 8Beat1" of the RC-10R (Just a 4 beats POUM TCHAK POUM TCHAK). The "SimpleBeat1" of the RC-5 has a bass drum hit on the "AND" of the 4 ! Maybe on a future update we will be able to use Rhythm Converter like with the RC-10R ?
I’m a little frustrated with the lack of an explanation as to why there are four cables hooked to the pedal? Why four? Where do they go? I have an RC-2 and am considering the RC-5.
I just got one but it may be faulty? The looper is very loud and with my guitar full on it is barely audible over the looper. The "Loop Level" doesn't make any difference from zero to 100. Shouldn't that be the way to turn down the looper volume?
I just got the RC5 and have found that the written 1/2 sheet set of instructions is worthless. Hopefully someone will create a TH-cam for this piece of equipment. Supposedly it has 7 drum kits and 50+ rhythms. However, I still can't figure out how to access these features and nothing is mentioned in the instruction sheet. By the way, I also have a Boss RC3 looper, which is somewhat easier to operate. To be fair, I also watched a dozen TH-cam videos to learn how to operate it. Boss's introductory video for the RC5 looper does not show/tell you "HOW" to use/access these fantastic functions! This video only highlights the professional guitarist's skills and not how to use the equipment. Apparently Boss's tech support is about as worthless as the printed material you receive with the unit.
Boss is really odd with manuals. The RC-505’s manual is really good and thorough. The Rc202’s manual looks similar, but does not contain the FX list, MIDI implementation, and System set up...that’s pnly in a downloadable PDF. ??? I got an RV-6 and the documentation was next to nothing. You might check up on the Boss site, there just might be a downloadable full on manual for your RC-5.
@@stuffnuns Thanks for your reply. I checked the Boss website for additional manuals/instructions but there wasn't anything extra for the RC5. It's really a shame, since Boss customers would probably buy additional equipment if good manuals and/or instructions were available. Apparently, Boss assumes all their customers are professional musicians.
Do you know, is it possible to cancel during recording (red color, not overdubbing) when you setup RC-5 to record definite number of measures and not to wait until device finishes recording?
I think the RC-500 can do what you're looking for. There are only so many features Boss can pack into a compact pedal with one footswitch without it becoming a complicated nightmare to use.
I’ve sent two emails ten days ago and only received the automatic reply but no actual human reply. What’s the best way to get BOSS to reply to a support request email?

Hello! I own a Boss RC3 which I use to record backing tracks to play themes and solos all along (I post them on TH-cam and FB). I was wondering about upgrading to one of the latest Boss loopers (RC10R, RC5, RC500...). I've been looking at a lot of demos and enjoyed the A/B sections feature, the new drumbeats library, the various tempo signatures, the fills, intro, outro etc. but at last I didn't find what I was looking for: the possibility to have different sections, each with its own drumbeat (w/same bpm, ca va sans dir): for example, think of a "verse" with double bass drums and a "chorus" with same bpm but single drum bass on beats and different accents - that would be a really cool feature and would make a Boss looper the complete instrument to record and play tunes. Thanks for reading my desiderata :^)
Can someone help me please?! I've just bought the pedal and plugged it to the end of a chain of other pedals, which include a reverb and volume pedal. However, when I try to overdub both the volume and reverb pedal change the new riff but also the already recorded riff! How do I avoid this please? Thank you.
Hello, I have a boss rc10R loopstation, there is a build in drummachine that syncs to the audio loop but the problem is that at the end of every round the drums plays a ending cymbal and this cymbal repeats every round.., it becomes very anoying after a while and ruins the music, the pedal gives no option to switch the cymbal of... on the NEW RC5 loopstation there is a function to mute certatin drum sounds and that is nice but COULD you make a software update for the RC10R that also inlcudes the option to mute drum sounds? that would be very nice and a lot of people would really apreciate that, I have 2 x RC10R loopstation pedals that i never use cause of the anoying crash cymbal... PLEASE HELP ME!!! make a a software fix for that... thank you and all the best for 2021 carlos vamos
You really want an amp & cabinet simulator to double as your headphone out. At this stage the guitar signal will sound sterile and harsh right into headphones. If Boss added a headphone out people would complain that it sounded bad. If they added amp / cabinet simulation people would complain that it doesn't sound like _their_ amp.
I would like to ask if the feature presented in this video th-cam.com/video/th8nfSRgCCc/w-d-xo.html for RC 3 is present also in RC5. Meaning if you have a loop track already and press the rhytm button will automatically follow your track? Does anyone know if the answer is yes?
@My Simply Music wow!! thats an amzing play!!! great performance .... what Loop are you using!!!! it sounds GREAT !!!!! Congrats.... you really Rock !!!!
I've had the RC-3 since it came out.. and this looks like any of the things I didnt like about it got fixed... gonna have to grab this or at least check it out
Bongalo Bill i heard somewhere that it has a safe save function where it will store what you play but won’t erase if you change to a different loop by mistake!! if that’s true, I’m going to buy this! I like the RC3 but I have been pissed off when I have forgot to hit save on odd occasions!! I recently lost something I was very happy with! I was gutted
@@Gibson1976uk okay so yes, unfortunately. Even if you don't unplug/turn off your pedal, if you change banks without hard saving to that bank. It will disappear
You could but I think you'd be very unhappy with the results. Since the Boss only has one footswitch and is designed to assist players record their loops in sync with the metronome / drum track, you're going to find it very clunky as a sampler.
I think the boss footswitch is not good for a looperpedal, because there is not that one point feelable, where it activates. I always had problems with my DD-7 getting the timing just right.
@@gazdalukas I couldnt time it perfectly with mine. If you own any bosspedal, try it yourself. The footswitch ist just unfitting. I recently bought a Ditto Looper and ist more comfortable with this tiny knobby footswitch kind of thing.
Boss needs to FIX the Drum Volume. There is No Way to Globally Reduce the Massive Drum Volume. I know several people who have nearly-blown-speakers. There should be-a-way to Reduce the Drum Volume on the entire unit. This was a major Glitch.
@@NomadicJurassic I think the hardware is plenty capable of it. It's more a matter of Boss trying to keep things simple in their compact pedals. From what I understand, the RC-500 can do like an A & B recording / overdubs but that's at the cost of a much larger enclosure, more footswitches and more complexity of operation.
It is odd that they show this with a FS6 when the FS7 is a way better foot switch the doesn’t need a battery or power to function in unlatched mode and can connect with a single stereo cable.
@MrC I will totally agree with switch layout being awkward, I also had a FS6 and I just didn’t like having to have a battery in something that didn’t really need it. There is plenty of schematics on the internet to build one if you don’t need the leds, 2 non latching momentary switches and a stereo jack. Also found a 6” stereo cable at monoprice for cheap.
Bad video! Why do you keep showing the young man? The device, on the other hand, hardly? I want to see close-up pictures of the device. And not an old warehouse from a bird's eye view! The tooting doesn't show the possibilities either! Very bad promotion!
I'm quite disappointed by this Boss Looper. I get it today and tried to sync it to an external Midi clock while I'm looping. The result was artifacts and funny timestreching noises without changing the tempo. When you record without midi clock, just standalone and you change 0.5 bpm you get directly heavy timestretching artefacts. Then I tried to control the RC 5 via Midi. No play or record on Midi. I had a software crash with error A 49 during midi controlling in the background. I guess I send it back as Roland tried another time to use the customer as a beta tester. But before I do a review on my channel.
@@d77sauce Yeah I guess less people use midi clock, but it was the reason to buy it. If you don’t need the drum loops inside, better buy another brand. After one year it’s still unusable with midi clock and changing tempo of the recorded stuff. Totally a joke. My 50 € Tascam handheld recorder can do tempo change without pitch.
Bad, the loops rhythms level control are extremely unfriendly in live situations. Also the fs 7 foot switch options are limited if you compare them with the rc 3
I could see that being an annoyance. I have the RC-3 and find the dual-concentric pot to be a bad design. The percussion is way, way too loud and the loop is at unity volume a little below 50% on the dial. Who the hell would ever want their loop to be 2x as loud as their playing? I'm hoping the RC-5 will be 'set it and forget it' with the percussion volume.
Frustrating video. Too many long shots of a guitar player and not enough closeup views of the pedal in action. Hald the views of the pedal have the screen reflecting the lights, so unable to see what the display Might be showing. I sincerely hope that you have learned from this terrible video and do not make any more like it.

Can someone help me please?! I've just bought the pedal and plugged it to the end of a chain of other pedals, which include a reverb and volume pedal. However, when I try to overdub both the volume and reverb pedal change the new riff but also the already recorded riff! How do I avoid this please? Thank you.
Run your effects out front and your looper through effects loop on back of amp if you have that
Luca Faraone is excellent.
Could someone please tell me the chords from 5:39 onwards?
Not 100%sure but look/ sounds like a B7 to a mod Gm7( less the D note on the 5th fret on the A (5th) string )
Headphone output?
You really want an amp & cabinet simulator to double as your headphone out. At this stage the guitar signal will sound sterile and harsh right into headphones.
If Boss added a headphone out people would complain that it sounded bad. If they added amp / cabinet simulation people would complain that it doesn't sound like _their_ amp.
What did he say?
I would like to ask if the feature presented in this video th-cam.com/video/th8nfSRgCCc/w-d-xo.html for RC 3 is present also in RC5. Meaning if you have a loop track already and press the rhytm button will automatically follow your track? Does anyone know if the answer is yes?
How do i save a memory when i turn the wheel it deletes them
The memory button.
🔥🔥🔥
the RC5 is the new RC3 ??? is that it ?!!!!
cool ... i was just looking for the new TC looper .. now i'm into RC-5 for sure ...
@My Simply Music wow!! thats an amzing play!!! great performance .... what Loop are you using!!!! it sounds GREAT !!!!!
Congrats.... you really Rock !!!!
So it can't play things back an octave lower at half speed, classic oldschool style?
Bongalo Bill is this the same with the RC-500? does that have an auto save function?
@@Gibson1976uk couldn't tell ya
Good morning. I have a RC1, he is Very good... The same is defective does not work in the outlet, only on 9v battery.
Can this function as a sampler too? Taking sampled audio and triggering it similar to the Jam Man back in the day.
I see your point, but isn't it just about getting used to? Quite interested in this pedal, but this may be a relevant concern.
@@gazdalukas I couldnt time it perfectly with mine. If you own any bosspedal, try it yourself. The footswitch ist just unfitting. I recently bought a Ditto Looper and ist more comfortable with this tiny knobby footswitch kind of thing.
@My Simply Music sucks
what about distorted guitar?
perchè non fate dei video di spiegazione della rc600???????? siamo nel 2022 svegliatevi fuori!
Boss needs to FIX the Drum Volume. There is No Way to Globally Reduce the Massive Drum Volume. I know several people who have nearly-blown-speakers. There should be-a-way to Reduce the Drum Volume on the entire unit. This was a major Glitch.
unlimited overdubs, but can u undo them all???
On the RC-3 you could only undo the last overdub, and only prior to saving the memory slot. This one is probably the same.
@@thos1618 thats what we need . a pedal with Ram
@@thos1618 i wana go with this theory to, but I think its to do with RAM. so in both units cases its not possible
To the Boss products video producers, next time show more close-up shots of the Boss RC-5 being demonstrated and LESS of the guitar player.
Maybe showing close shots of the pedal more than long shots of the guy playing might have been a better idea?? Perhaps?

Thanks for the info. Def don’t see people mentioning this
@@d77sauce Yeah I guess less people use midi clock, but it was the reason to buy it. If you don’t need the drum loops inside, better buy another brand. After one year it’s still unusable with midi clock and changing tempo of the recorded stuff. Totally a joke. My 50 € Tascam handheld recorder can do tempo change without pitch.
@@monowelt I don't think there are any other loopers out there with that capability tbh
Mine broke after a month. I’ve heard several other reports of this. “Data write error”. Buyer beware.
Nothing on usb or midi
This makes me want to trash my rc3
Is rock dead?? All I can find is horrible elevator music with looper pedals! Wow. 🤮
NO POWER ADAPTER? After spending $205?? Disgusting
Apologies, i cannot take anyone with short trousers and no socks seriously. Also, the demo is not very good to explain new features
Does anyone At Boss reads comments from potential buyers.
I don’t think so.
Media interaction is non existent.
Instructions are terrible.
Amen brother! A step by step instructional video would be great.
Ummm yah a great sales pitch , But not very helpful to learn the pedal, cmon. We don’t need a showman would like an instruction ,
BE CAREFUL¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Had one of this. After 2 years of domestic and moderate use it has STOPPED WORKING. A message appeared in the display DATA READ ERROR. Tried to repair but almost 100 dollars. So I have decided to run it away and explore another options. Im not the same to happen this. Check it out
