- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 20 มิ.ย. 2024
- I have used a looper pedal at my solo acoustic gigs for years now. Creating a loop on guitar is easy and is a great way to make your practice more efficient, and your shows more entertaining. I will be demonstrating in this video how to create loops on 3 easy guitar songs that we all know and love. After this video you will have the basic building blocks to get out there and start looping on your own and bringing your solo acoustic gigs or any guitar gig to the next level.

Just wonderful... thank you!
Thank you too!
I bought a looper a couple of years ago, gonna have to dig it out and try again after watching this. certainly helpful.
Glad you found it helpful! Wish you the best
Frank you are totally killing it man. The content has quality is awesome and I love seeing your sub numbers getting so high. Keep it up man!
Thanks so much. It’s very exciting I must admit.
Simple and highly efficient instructions here, thank you for sharing Frank !
My pleasure. Hope you got something good out of it
Great explanation, I always wondered about those things.
Glad it was helpful!
I love these videos. Please make as many of these as you feel up to. Very helpful and I’m sharing them with other people to get you more subscribers. 🙏
I appreciate it. I will deff be making more vids like this
Really great instructional video Frank, thanks for putting out this content.
My pleasure.
Thank you Frank. Great channel, awesome work especially it's what you love and enjoy doing.
Thanks so much
Concise, informative, simple, fun, with some witty humor. In one word... Motivational
That one word is what it’s all about. Thank you 🙏
Thanks Frank. Another solid video with great advice!
I appreciate it brotha . Hope all is well w u
What a great video for beginners! Thank you!
You're so welcome!
Frank, I love that your channel is here to “get us gig ready”. Currently my idea of a gig is playing with friends and family. For example, this Summer I plan to play again at my cousin’s annual family bash. We usually have drums, bass, keys and my brother in law playing rhythm guitar and singing. He is the only one truly gig ready. Your video turned on a light bulb for me. I can use my looper to practice the guitar fills and layers that I try to add songs in the set list. Such a simple idea but I never thought about it. I was just occasionally using the looper as a something to improv to. Thanks again and keep the content coming✌️
Awesome glad to have u here. The looper is definitely a great practice tool!! Best of luck at the gig. Give em hell lol
This was much needed, and very practical. Thank you.
Very glad to hear .. thank u
Great playing, awesome video!!
Thanks a lot!
Awesome instructional video brother.
Much appreciated
Great explanation, thanks! 💯
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks, this was for me.
Glad to hear it!
Love this thank you!
You are so welcome!🙏
Thanks Bought a ditto on CL... now I get it. Gotta plug it in
Congrats!! You will enjoy it I’m sure
New subscriber. This is easily the best Looper lesson I’ve seen. A horse with no name is a great starting point. I speak a someone who has struggled with this. Thanks.
Wow. Thanks so much. I really appreciate it
I've always found looper pedals to be complicated - thank you for your simplified lesson. It was genius of you to use 2, 3, 4 chord songs for demo. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Very good demo. I'm recently the proud owner of a Martin D-18. I've been playing an electric guitar for 50 years and have finally decided to learn fingerpicking on an acoustic guitar. I've also been playing by myself and I wanted to find a way to accompany myself. Your introduction to looping has me excited. Thanks for the help. I'm hooked on looping.
That’s awesome. Congrats on the D-18. Can’t go wrong with one of those ever. Welcome to the channel
Thank you so very much, I am an Old newbie to playing guitar. I learned 4 years ago at age 54 and love it! I have a lot of gear and hope to be playing for friend, family, and seniors and children in hospitals. I want them to enjoy music and feel the healing power of the music that has helped me in many ways and is still part of my healing process!!
I think it’s great that you started! It’s all a function of the effort and life you put towards it. It is NEVER too late to be a great player .
Thamk you Frank!
My pleasure
Oh my! Thank you. I recently was able to get the rhythm down by feel on Horse with No Name after trying to play it for awhile with simpler rhythms. Even so I can't let go enough right now to be able to sing and keep the rhythm feel. The looper will make it so I can pay full attention to singing it.
That’s great. I may do a video soon on rhythm and strumming feel
Very nice! Cheers, Malcolm
Thanks Malcolm!
Thank you Brother❤
You're most welcome
Thanks for doing this
My pleasure
The best teaching for beginners ,thank you so muj love the video
You're so welcome!
thanks for this. been wanting to get started with loops so I can level up!
You can do it! Thanks for the comment
thank you. playing acoustic for years. 73 years old. Looping ? what? i thought. BS !.....never heard of it. Im gonna try thank you
Definitely give it a shot. It is also a great practice tool. You can record changes and solo
I am 74 and I am going to buy one!
Upstate NY. Love the Gibson acoustic guitar...
Hey there. Love it upstate. I’m a big fly fisherman!! Thanks for the comment
Enjoyed this, thanks from Colorado.
My pleasure thanks for the comment
Cheers for the lesson… I’m an Aussie solo musician, I’ve been using a loop pedal @mygigs in a very basic form for years, just intro, solo & perhaps a dynamic change here n there , so now it’s time to expand… cheers for the insight…. Ps horse with no name coms out at almost every gig …. So I’ll learn th other 2…. Good onya 🤙🏽
Thanks for the post and welcome to the channel.
Great teaching video
Glad it was helpful!
Frank!! Keep up the great work. It’s great to see this channel growing rapidly.
I’ve been here a couple of weeks and the videos are great!
I am a 44 yr old professional that picked up my guitar from an 8 year sleep about 13 months ago. I am ready to leave the job and do music full time.
I have made an epic transformation!
Your videos are another tool that I’m using to be able to get where I’m going.
Thank you Frank!
Wow. I’m blown away by the comment. Thanks for that. I too had stepped away from guitar for a couple years and it was the best thing that ever happened. Because it cemented my resolve when I came back. You are on YOUR path and that was part of it. I wish you the best
Nicely done!
I have a Ditto which I've never used, but will be breaking it out thanks to you.
Hope you enjoy it!
Awesome lesson...my first one with you and it's great ..3 songs I know ..well done!!@
Awesome! Thank you!
You’re a very good presenter. Thanks for taking the time to create this very helpful video.
Glad it was helpful!
Die Option, eine Aufnahme zu löschen und wieder einzufügen, als Gestaltungselement zu nutzen, ist super. Danke für diesen Tipp. Toll erklärt. Ich nutze auch den Ditto Looper
Thanks for the comment. Enjoy
Thank you for taking the time to share these techniques. Looping is something that many guitarists assume you should just know how to do. I must admit it can be humbling trying to get the rhythm right. You make it look so easy!
A lot of times peoples issues with looping actually a timing issue on the instrument itself. (Not saying that’s in your case) but it deff can be humbling. Just forces us to correct bad habits. Kind of like playing to a metronome does. Thank you for the comment I appreciate it.
Man, I appreciate this.
Glad you do. Thanks for commenting
Fun video. OK I'll do more w/ my loop pedal!
Awesome!👏
Good intro to looping. Thanks.
My pleasure
Excellent teaching well done. Perfect for a relative newbie. Appreciate the inclusion of chord charts, close ups for the neck and strumming parts and the looper. Can only hope i will progress enough to know how to solo and go beyond basic chords.
Thanks so much
Frank, This is good stuff. Thanks
Very welcome
Great video Frank! I’d love for you to do more videos of songs you’ve found to be great for looping in live gigs. This is an area I’m trying to really grow. Thanks!
Great suggestion! I will
Thanks Frank, I find all your videos super informative and inspiring, Time to break out my old Digitech JamMan Stereo and get Jammin' Man!
Thanks so much. It’s these kind of comments that keep me going. Yes break it out!! Lol
Frank, that was great! I just bought a looper pedal, and your lesson has helped so much. Thanks a lot!
Great to hear! Enjoy the looper!
Great lesson, I have that pedal and never really used it because I just couldn’t get it right. After watching this I’m stoked about giving it a try again. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this.
Happy to help!
Not getting gig ready, but fun ready!
Just as important 😀
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 been looking for this kind of video for months!
Glad it was helpful!
I ned more of this funtastic Looping videos ❤
More to come!
Endlich habe ich begriffen wozu ein Looper gut ist. Danke!
My pleasure
Have the Boss RC-1 looper with the square foot pad that I Iike -albeit abit pricey, the Donner Triple Looper with a temperamental click switch, the Loopy Pro (software) for the iPad that is sound triggered and just yesterday purchased the Sonic Cake looper. A looper for every amplifier room in the house, I guess. Great to play back what you think may or may not be great. Learning and enjoyment. Thank you for the great review and how to practice looping skills on specific songs.
Thanks for the comment. Wish u the best.
Great video, so informative
Glad it was helpful!
Wow! This was a super fun video for a newbie looper like myself! Looking forward to more of your videos. 🙂
Awesome. Welcome to the channel
Just found you (so to speak) and wanted to say thanks for the greta lessons. Looping maybe too advanced for me right now but I am going to check your other content. Really, Thank you Frank
You are welcome. I will try to add more beginner style content as well. The channel is just getting going and I have plans to include more basic lessons too:)
Great Vid!
Thanks AG
Brilliant. I use Horsey Noname as a beginning song for students.
Agree. Amazing how it is such a good song as well.
My guy, this is the best looper vid ever. I’ve really struggled with the really complex video and this was just to the point with really useable examples. Ty!!!
Glad to hear it!
Loved this video! You are a very good teacher, sir! The presentation was simple and easy, and not at all scary! I have suddenly renewed interest in picking up my guitar again, and trying this! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Some of the best advice I’ve heard was to start and end on the 1, definitely helped with my timing issues.
I got a boomerang phrase sampler, I think it was one of the first good dedicated loopers. Its hugh but it sounds great especially ran from the send of an effects loop and then output to a separate amp. This keeps the playback from muddying up the main amp. The buttons are great for precise timing and getting in and out of the loop without glitches. Its set up super simple like a tape player which makes it very intuitive. Ive tried the ditto pedals and found they're a little clunky when it comes to precise control. The whole double click to do this, hold down to do this is just hard to make work on the fly
Great to hear: thanks for the comment
Thanks very much bros
My pleasure
That's a great easy lesson for beginners. I've been using my looper for a few years on and off and I just learned a few things myself. That's great man we keep on keepin on
Much appreciated
This is awesome! I’m getting one for my next gig in a few weeks!!!!
Good luck! Let us know how u do
I've used a looper for a few years but it's always nice to review. Timing on the overdubs is tricky sometimes. Gets easier the more you practice of course. Thanks for the ideas.
Very true! You are welcome
Good job Frank😊
Much appreciated
Thank you for the knowledge. Now I know what to do with my looper that was kept in the fridge for couple of months ago due to ignorance. big HUG fr Phuket❤
Rock on!🤘
Very useful intro to the looper. Will have to give it a go
Glad you like it!
thankyou thankyou thankyou omg im looping
Dude! Thats awesome..👏
Great video. Thanx. Bn closet looping for years , creating my back n tracks never
Thanks for the comment. Have a great day
New subscriber, loved the looping lesson!
Welcome aboard!
New subscriber right here. i really like your no nonsense but lighthearted style. I've only just started performing for older people in aged care homes and community centres. It's interesting how older people are a lot younger in their musical tastes than you'd think they'd be. But when you consider that surviving members of the Beatles and Rolling Stones for example are in their 80s now, it's a more fun time than ever to be doing this sort of work. I'm enjoying your videos a lot. Very inspiring.
Thanks so much. It’s definitely scary how the old people don’t seem that old to me anymore lol
Great job on simplifying this. I've had an RC 20 for years gathering dust because I could never get the hang of it. I think its time to visit the gear closet😁👍 Thank you for sharing
Deff bust it out. Look at it as just a fun game and not a daunting task ;)
I bought an RC-500, around three years ago and could never get the hang of it. I just got frustrated and haven’t touched it since. Your video is very inspiring and helpful! I will will have to try again. Being a soloist I definitely see the advantages of a looper.
I didn’t think I could ever Travis pick landslide till I watched your videos for that, so perhaps there is hope for me using a looper, Lol!
I really appreciate you Frank,
I love all your videos and enjoy them very much. You are making a difference in people’s lives! keep up the great work! 😎👍🎸
Dude. I greatly appreciate the kind words. You can deff learn to Travis pick. I will make some vids about it in the near future. Slow and steady. Enjoy!
@@FrankPersicoI appreciate everything you do my friend! 😎👍🎸
Trade you an RC3 & a few bucks for it
@@psivil.disobedience I appreciate it, but I just need to discipline myself and learn how to use it!
😎👍🎸
Great video!!!
Fleetwood Mac "Dreams" is one I really like to loop live, 2 chords and is a really well known crowd pleaser.
The Allman Brothers "Mellissa" is another great one to loop for the solo sections (3 chords), as well as Tennessee Whiskey (2 chords).
Oh yeah. I play those songs but the only one I have thought to loop was Tennessee whiskey. Gonna try your suggestions. Thanks for sharing
Very nice
Thank you 🙏
Great 🎉
Thank you 🙏
Thanks Frank love your channel as a guitarist who enjoys looping. I have a electro harmonix 720 and I use it for creating loops then soloing over in the absence of vocals. I like the fade option of the 720 rather than the straight stop button. Keep those songs suggestions coming - awesome work!
Thanks for commenting and sharing w us. I will try my best to keep good material flowing
Wow, I wish I had this video when I first learned to use my looper. I could have made a video this long on all of the mistakes I made. You have undoubtedly saved a lot of players time and frustration. Your song selection was excellent as well. I'll look forward to watching some of your other videos--new subscriber.
Thanks so much. Comments like this make it all worthwhile for me. Welcome to the channel
Great channel, you have a new subscriber from New Zealand. Cheers.
Awesome, thank you!
I might try this, after practicing guitar for over 50 years, lol thanks , it wasn't to technical.
Awesome! Go for it
You cured my loop anxiety! Whoa! Thanks!
You are very welcome
This is regarding your "Everybody want to rule the World " short--very nice....I like this song, I have yet to post, and I've played parts of it for years. Awesome jazz fusion guitarist John Goodsall ("Brand X"--RIP--Nov 2021-- "safe and effective") He really liked the sound of my "Little Martin" playing the end part of ".Rules World". He signed my guitar, a very big signature too! Sorry to find out he's past on.
Yeah me too that is sad.
Orange County, Southern California. Nice job and like your channel. New Sub.
Thanks for the sub!
thank you, Frank!! New looper person here. You popped up. Great video and I subscribed! cheers!
Awesome. Welcome. Feel free to let me know what you may be interested in learning
I'm glad I found your video. I'm new to looping. There are songs out there I want to play, but I can't play three guitars at one time, so I don't even learn those songs. You gave me some hope. Thanks for the information. I'm going to start with " Susie Q "
Awesome. I’m glad you found it too:) hope to have you as a subscriber :) all the best
Love the video and 3 great song suggestions. I use a boss rc1. You can add a separate footswitch to get one click start stop and undo. Built the switch using 2 switches and a box for about £10. The single click makes life much easier.
Thanks for the tip! Great idea
Love the content and the way you present it..with humour..😊😊🤦
Thank you so much 😀
FP......thanks for your.. Loop basics tutorial....nice job....generous thanks for sharing.....do you have a video on more advanced featured Looper.... ?
Coming soon!
You had me at "Go out and get a snack while the guitar is still playing." But seriously, you inspired me to dig out my unused RC-1. We'll see how it goes... you could not have made it more straight forward. Thanks!!! :)
Hahaha lol. Glad it inspired you. Enjoy
I love lamp.
Hahahaahha Anchorman!
Great video…. Thanks! I think once somebody body learns to use a pedal, it becomes intuitive, and for most it’s easy to forget how to teach something that becomes intuitively obvious… like teaching some how to tie their shoes. But you nailed it!
Eventually it gets to be easier but believe me I still screw up plenty 😬
Nice work Frank - I’ve played for decades, started looping just a few years ago after buying a Ditto Jam. I had owned a much fancier looping pedal but it was too much tech, I couldn’t figure it out, and this made me set it aside after some frustration. Maybe you can talk about looping phrases that don’t necessarily start or end on the downbeat of the one?
That’s a great idea. I will try to find some examples to make a vid about . If you have any let me know
Well done. Thank you. Nice demeanor too🤣
Thank you too!
Learning to loop well is the single best thing a guitarist can do to improve thier timing and playing in general, outside of actually gigging. Looping while gigging will supercharge your progress, but beware:
Looping is HARD.
I've been doing it for 8 years now, and while my profciency has grown immensely, it's always a high-wire act. Tommy Emmanuel, one of the greatest acoustic players of all times says the same thing. "You never know what's going to happen" playing live with a looper. A looper won't cover for you the way a good band will when you make a mistake. It doesn't care about your feelings. It just plays back exactly what you play into it. If you are going to perform, get a looper with a dedicated "STOP" botton, or you'll be in double tap hell trying to stop the thing on the beat.
The need for precise timing and its absolute sonic fidelity are it's greatest strengths as a teaching tool, and it's most dangerous flaws as an accompaniest when gigging.
You've been warned. ;-)
Love this comment. Couldn’t have been said any better…
ha ha great idea!
This is excellent. Thank you. I have a RC-1 and my biggest problem is just getting the timing down on starting/ stopping the loop. ( the circle of lights confuse me..!😂) I guess that will just come with practice. Question, do you notice a drop in volume when using a loop? It’s not so much in my acoustics, but in the electrics I noticed it. Thanks again brother..! Keep um coming !🤘
Thanks so much. I appreciate the positive feedback(sometimes TH-cam feedback is brutal;);) yes practicing to time those in and out points to synchronize with your playing is the key. And when you are live it seems to be even harder because of nerves probably. But I certainly can do it. I have noticed that there is a slight drop in volume. I always wondered if it is actually true or just seems like that since we have stopped playing… 🤔
Great Channel. I play a Martin HD28, searching of the best way to play live. Maybe want to add a pickup or mic up. I am looking at the K&K mini. What do you suggest? Buy another guitar for live that has electronics in the acoustic? You should do a show on this, if you have not already. Keep Rockin'.
To be honest I would buy a guitar that already has the electronics in it this way you can audition how the guitar sounds before. I’d hate to see you put a pickup in your HD28 and then not like how it sounds plugged in. Now u have defaced ur guitar. I have a D35 that I love. It has no electronics and that’s how I’m keeping it. That said if you could somehow find someone who has that pickup installed in a guitar then you can check it out. If you think it’s that good take the chance and put it in your Martin. But my first instinct is buy a guitar that has electronics to start.
Time to get out that Ditto pedal I bought about a year ago (".)
Definitely!
