    I've just got a looper and I'm convinced every guitar player should own one now, because if nothing else it's an excellent way of demonstrating how bad a player you are. That's a good thing, because it forces you to be spot-on with your timing. I think I've become sloppy with timing - too focused on doing the flashy stuff rather than the basics. Really enjoying it.

      Exactly! We got an RC300, and I feel as though it's yet another instrument to learn. It took me so many trial and error attempts to figure out what this video instructed within 60sec.

      @Andrew Ramirez Nice to hear cause I (and I thought I was okay to almost good player) just bought a looper and am totally depressed over my incompetence.

      Agreed everyone should have one, such a fantastic teaching tool. I am using mine now for learning how to sing, very fast feedback loops. "I thought that sounded pretty good, I say, lets find out, um, no, not exactly, good but not great, try again, repeat!".

      Thanks! Folks, please vote this up so it floats up. For most of the tune titles, I couldn't quite make out what Paul was saying. I guess Paul assumes we all know all these, but I was only familiar with three (and one of them I didn't know the name of anyway!)

    The one thing that's annoying about looping is the time it takes most people to get their loops sections going, they way you achieve it quickly every 4 bars is awesome and adds to the progression of the song. Well done

    Paul - I have just started quite possibly the hardest part of my life: Starting my first teaching job in a High School as a Maths Teacher.
    This month (September), I have barely picked up my guitar or had time to watch any of your videos, until finally today.
    Hearing you play I'm Yours brought a tear to my eyes because of how much I've missed music since starting this new job and you made me feel so reconnected to my music. I was feeling those Fleetwood Mac vibes with those amazing harmonies that you used for that song ~
    Thank you.

That's the one downside I find with Loopers is that you can't use multiple chord progressions on them

    Hey Paul, that's an amazing video. I am living in South Africa and have been playing as a solo guitar act for twenty years using backing tracks and six months ago I purchased my first loop station and am totally hooked. I can't say I am a producer or engineer but I'm learning daily. I am looking into buying a Helix and adding a Maton guitar and Strat to my line up. I have also been testing out push2 and have decided as it's so expensive here that I would go for the Novation launchpad pro and use it with ableton, I'm trying to combine the two loopers. I was just not sure that I could do the same as with push or launchpad as I can with my RC 300. Would you offer some advise here. I perform 5 times a week in a five star hotel. As I say this is all new to me so I need to try and get it all working in my favor. Many Thanks for the great video.

    These are great demos of a looper, however there are so many other things you can do. If you have 5 minutes you can just play a song from beginning to end instead of a small loop, and you can just play freely without worrying about tempo if you can predict what you are going to do, and are just playing rhythm, then a solo, or melody. Great for jotting down ideas, and trying them out.

    My new Boss RC-1 has just arrived. I somehow had the feeling that Mr. Davids will be the perfect tutor to introduce me to looping. I wasn't wrong 🎸 great video 🤘

    If I just knew cord shapes and techniques that you use, I could go so far with my own music. That's definitely what's holding me back.... BUT NOT FOR LONG!!!

      Jack Narloch I think music theory is what is holding you up :)

      Do you mean not knowing music theory? Knowing music theory really can't hold you back unless you get paralyzed by how much you can learn. It's really a way to understand why things sound good, it can only help.

      Jose Bocanegra it helped me a lot actually, there are tons of informations in the internet. It lets me construct some chords in different shapes and ways, lets do solos easily, lets create good sounding music.

    I like the idea of this but how does one perform a song that has multiple chord progression structures? eg the chorus chords are completely different to the verses? Does the looper cater for these 'sections'??

    • @sanjayv2581
      @sanjayv2581 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you get a looping pedal that has two banks - like the ditto xl - then you can have 2 different sections.

      @marksmusicCC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are limits on what you can do with looping and it is a skill of its own, mostly though it comes down to how much you want to spend on a loop pedal and what features you want or need.

    thank you for all your explaining and tips.
    been playing guitar for a while now and im going to start looping.
    about your singing , i got a tip for you! :)
    Dont bend the notes, on the big black horse song... just OEH OOOEEEHHH OOEEHH instead of OEH OOOEEEHHH OOEehh
    keep it straight and you will notice it sounds a lot better, when bending (in harmonies) it will sound like your off pitch.
    bye bye now, take care and thank you
