I just got this pedal a few days ago, and literally just tried it out for the first time a few hours ago. I was feeling sick from a graphic documentary I had to watch for film class, so I needed to get my mind off things. Decided to bring out the new pedal at 10pm at night, made sure my Fender Pro Jr was at 2 and just started cranking out tunes on my Fender Strat Pro2 with the RC5. Let me tell you, a whole hour felt like 10 mins! I went to another place. Looped a few basic cords and just played around them. Love this pedal, small, simple to use, tons of fun, seems durable. I highly recommend it. Never owned a looper pedal before so this was a good choice.

Just got this pedal as a birthday present. It is a BEAST of a loop station, and already with very instructive videos like these very easy to use.. It gives credit to Boss once again that 13hrs of loop memory once again has been fitted in the already known pedal shape. I am also a big EHX fan of which I also own several pieces, but Boss outmatches them for fitting even the most complex of functions in the same pedal shape. I was already floored by the Boss SY1 synth pedal, but this loop station...well. enough said. Try one and you will see what I mean.

Money's been something else though I just bought this yesterday and can't wait to dig in. I have been looping for many many years though after using the Ditto X4 and having it MIDI sync'd to my drum machines/interface using the RC3 just wouldn't do. Not being able to pick the BPMs and not having MIDI made it almost unuseable for me. I'm excited to see the upgrades and just ordered the MIDI 2.0 cable. I'm excited and want to say thank you for doing this video breaking down some of the product.

Thanks for the Intro, covers a lot of useful things!
I have a question though: Is it possible to control, or rather toggle the drum kits via an external footswitch? If so, would I need a MIDI footswitch for that or would a regular one like Boss FS-6 do the trick? I know that this scenario might not be the most common but I'd like to have the option to have the rhythm section not kick in as soon as I begin recording, but say as the second or third layer of the loop.

I upgraded from RC-3 last November and I had about 20 songs recorded and saved. I play full backing with tempo set, guitar, bass then extra guitar. I noticed recently that even though they were saved it put the generic beat under the songs in the incorrect tempo! I put a lot of effort into these and now they’re useless.

@@Hermes33925 From what I understand, it’s not a function you set. It just does it automatically. Say you’re looping a guitar. Now it’s playing the loop. Turn the drum on and it should quantize to your loop. I say “it should” because sometimes it it doesn’t depending on what you’re playing. Drum patterns, time signatures might make a difference. Hope that helps.

New to electric pedals does this have a drum machine built in? So could I plug into my blues jnr and drums will start playing and then I can start playing?

Yes, I believe this has 50+ drum rhythm on it and you can download more, you can change the tempo of the rthytm pattern selected

Can you use one input for vocals and one for guitar? I need an independent channel for vox and an independent channel for guitar. Is that going to be something that I could do on this?

looks good , but seems over complicated .... can the outputs A & B be used to run the rhythm through a drum monitor ? and not my guitar amp ..

    1 question here!
Let’s say I set the footswitch to “MEMORY INC”.
If I’m playing memory01 then press that footswitch (so it changes to memory02), will it continuously play memory02 right away?
Or I have to press the pedal again to play that memory02 loop?
If it plays right away, I could use memory01 as the verse section, and memory02 as the chorus section.
This is a killer feature for me and I can’t see anyone demo it. I really wanna know if it works before buying the RC-5 + footswitch combo.
    Thanks in advance!

    1. When recording a loop over one of its drum patterns, does the RC-5 automatically quantize the parts you play to keep it in sync? (like my Zoom G1Xon does)
    2. Does the RC-5 have any cool House or Drum n Bass drum patterns?
    Cheers!

    Your internal metronome is sick.

Nice video, thanks! Does this pedal just have a basic metronome click as an option within the rhythm presets? I don’t want any of that drum machine stuff… Just a simple tick tick tick.

Apologies if this has been answered, but I can't seem to find this anywhere. Does this, or the RC-1, have extended overdubing? ie where your first loop is 4 bars and your second can be 8 bars
