Totally agree! That's why I love my SO. He has openly said if I were to start making six figures, he would quit his job and become a stay at home dad, LOL.

I feel like we hear these stories on Reddit all the time-men who cheat on their SOs to be with someone too young for them, when their current SO was also too young when they got together. To be fair that man got what was coming to him!
I had an ex send me an email out of the blue years after we broke up, which was also incredibly awkward. Our situation wasn’t nearly as extreme but bro is married and should not be reaching out to his exes!

Honestly what's sick about these men who groom young women, it's like they can never leave their life completely. I was groomed from 12 to 16 by the same guy who was 5 years older than me. I'm now 22 and he still tries to watch my social media...it's like they NEED to see the products of their abuse.

my ex also tried awkwardly reaching out to me through a third party messenger ON HIS WEDDING DAY TO SOMEONE ELSE whats funnier is the 3rd party said “he wanted me to forward a letter to you, but i think its very inappropriate so im not going to send it to you but you should know hes getting married today” its always the ones that abuse u and treat u like ur replaceable and worthless that try coming back and acting like theyve only ever loved and cherished u. we didnt have much of an age gap when we were together (only 2 1/2 years) but once we broke things off and i blocked him on everything he started bragging about dating someone 2 years younger than me and attempting to reach out to brag about it thru mutuals lol. he also tried to proposition me into an affair 2 months into the relationship with the girl he ended up marrying. so the same kinda manipulative men always shoot younger. he still stalks my social media and i will get notifications of him trying to access my Microsoft and google accounts, his wifes social media pages all started getting recommended to me because he was using them to try and snoop. i pray for that girl, i hope she finds the strength to escape him one day

I'm an asexual, and I'd feel more comfortable with an open relationship, or polyamorous, for the fact that I know most people do need a sexual aspect to a relationship. If they can't have that with me, I'm fine if the relationship allows for them to have it with someone else, as long as it's safe and careful. Being ace, I can't comprehend why sex is so necessary to so many people, but I still can respect a partner who does feel they need it.

Nah if the response to "I would like more intimate time" is "give me a beej and no I won't reeciprocate" then yeah divorce is the next obvious step because of how cruel such a /worldview/ is. Husband knows he has a live in caretaker and knows he will sink not swim if he has to hit the dating pool again.

This one’s tough. Maybe they should have worked together to try get the spark going. As you get older sometimes you don’t want sex as much as. Or maybe he’s just going through a phase. But he also sounds like he not willing to work on it. So I’m really torn on that one. I don’t think anyone’s the asshole or right or wrong in situation. They need therapy lol.

The no sex one, if you are a sexual person in a relationship 6 months is a looooooooong time to try and talk to a partner about sex or lack of. I mean seriously sit there and think about how you'd feel about it taking 6 months for your partner to TALK to you about literally anything thats an issue. SIX MONTHS trying to have a CONVERSATION. I don't give a flying eff what the subject of the conversation is, SIX MONTHS?! That's divorce worthy 100%. Thats ridiculous. If in six months they won't even TALK about the issue therapy isn't going to help anything.

when story 2's OP met Dan, she was 18 and he was at least 25 (if my math is right)
while i don't wanna like. stir the pot or anything without knowing their actual story, i can say that i made a similar choice (dating a 25 y/o at 18) and it's NOT something you really wanna sign yourself up for like that
mine didn't end with a marriage>divorce, but it certainly gave me a lot of trauma that i'm still recovering from to this day
it sucks and i feel terrible for OP in that way
    also! eta!!:
grandparents rights is something that exists at different levels across different states (im just talking about usa atm), and it's complex as hell
but at minimum it only allows grandparents to apply for visitation rights
it's not an automatic thing and i believe you still have to go in front of the court in some degree
if the grandparents have more of a basis for more visitations or custody, then it becomes a more complicated matter

Alright but like- I can't get over how sick that intro is!!
Been a comforter AND ottoman for several months now, (yes, you can be both) and I have been absolutely blown away and so impressed with the people y'all are becoming.
You folks, you've been such a safe space for me the last year in some very hard times.
(Even that time I had to "Hard disagree" with Sam! ;) ) Your takes are already so compassionate in general and human and boundaried. But on top of that if we audience have harsh corrections or concerns, y'all address it with SUCH grace.
I know I don't know y'all personally, but what I've seen of who you are through this pod has really been inspiring to me, I'm so proud of you three, this pod is on my top four (including SJ) favorite TH-cam channels list, and I am so blessed to be part of this community where almost all the other subscribers are also amazing people.

I thought for the longest time that a marriage and a partnership were a team effort, I got married, young and my husband never applied himself other than too drinking, after being a stay at home mom for five years I got a job and was making 307% more than my husband. He was miserable at his job I told him to quit. I would pay all of the bills and he could go back to school or spend time recording because music had always been his passion and instead he opted for divorce.
Now this divorce has been in a stalemate since 2012 because he believes he is entitled to alimony even though I have been raising our daughter since 2012 and he has not seen her since 2019

1:38:54 NTA. the fact that she used to *_hook up_* with one of the guys she's going on vacation with is a red flag in and of itself. I'm not against being friends with your ex, but you got to set some fxxxing boundaries. And quite frankly, OP's ex-girlfriend, you should have paid more attention to him when he said he was uncomfortable with this whole situation. But you chose to do what you want, and now you lost your partner.
And if what OP said in the edit is true, you are dirty as hell for keeping that information from him! And why didn't you want to introduce them to your friends? This personally triggers me, because I had an ex that did that to me! I felt like she was ashamed of me! And I should have left her ass then!

That way their kid together only ever had to go next door and still had both parents most of the time, and then his half siblings from each of his parents second marriages would also be babysat by the ex pretty frequently.

Last story, I think on the update, the “like a brother” guy reached out to OP because the ex was talking crap about OP to him. That left him confused because, why would she be talking crap if they had been broken up for months? So his little antena went up and he did some investigating. He said, “when did you guys break up?” And OP clarified the timeline. That’s when he, the “like-a-brother” guy, deduced that the girl had been lying the whole time, as he thought he was hooking up with a single woman the whole time. No, brother, you got played. I love that Sam is an ope'r 😂 I somehow became one, and I don't know when it started or how. I'm from Texas (yes, Sam, some people want to come here LOL), and I've never lived anywhere near the Midwest, but I say Ope all the time!

My family has always had a truck as a main vehicle. If we only have one, dad's the main driver but thats due to his job. It's mostly because we lived on a farm and used it to haul stuff. Mom has had SUVs, cars and currently a truck but I've mainly had cars or SUVs since the gas is ridiculous.

For the last story, OP mentioned that the girl was talking bad about him a lot (so I’m guessing it just came suddenly) so I’m assuming that’s why the other guy asked OP if he was still in a relationship to see if something had happened

1:39:58 They should have communicated about boundaries when it comes to opposite-sex friends. He should have explained how uncomfortable he felt knowing that 1) he has never really met the male friends, 2) she is friends with her ex, and 3) she is spending time with just them. Yes, having an ultimatum is a douche move, but if he had said something way before about his boundaries, 'icks', and crossing boundaries, then maybe she wouldn't have been so surprised that he wanted to break up.
Of course, she is also in the wrong for not introducing her friends to him, keeping the ex a secret, and not respecting his boundaries and comments about her friendships. If she was more understanding and had opened up her friend group to OP, then maybe he would have trusted her.

i think the last story the reason the guy is reaching out is because the girl probably slipped up and said something about OP again and he’s thinking, what is she so mad about this guy she supposedly broke up with months ago.

We know you don't all drive trucks, but typically all those that do drive trucks have a very specific stereotype that they almost always live up to.
