  • How to add text with outline in Camtasia and without fill? This tutorial shows a workaround to a problem that is not yet solved in Camtasia: creating text with outline effect, and no fill so that you can see through it, use it on top of other assets and allow them to be visible inside the text. The method shown here is a little workaround, but it is native to Camtasia and you don't need to import any text from outside, no transparent PNGs or other files are needed.
    The text you create with this method can also be customised, you can create quick properties from it, save it to your library and reuse it in your projects without changes. You can also customise the font, the colour, the size, etc.
    This effect involves using a new feature added in Camtasia 2021: Media Mattes. If you have Camtasia 2020, you can still achieve this using Track Mattes, pretty much the same way, so instead of adding the Media Matte effect to the main text, you add it to the track that contains the main text. That is the only difference.
    Chapters:
    00:00 Introduction
    00:56 Preparing the text
    01:59 How to achieve the effect
    03:35 Duplicating the text
    06:34 Filling the corners
    09:35 Creating the outline effect
    12:16 Creating a customisable asset
    14:20 Customising the font

    Love your vids Cristi!! I realize now that you can really can be creative. you just have to try stuff. The fact you can do all the complicated things just once and save them to your library makes it worth doing. Thanks to you , i am trying out some things and saving them to use again. I appreciate your efforts. Thank you,

      This is Camtasia 2021+ . There are several things used in this tutorial that do not work in Camtasia 9. Time for an upgrade? 2023 is out: cotovan.com/camtasia

  •  ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, Goog tutorial, but, this is not possible with Camtasia 9? The 8 copies yes, but the transparent?

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're correct, Camtasia 9 doesn't have masking, it was introduced in Camtasia 2020 I believe.

    Has anyone been able to do this on a Mac? I haven't been able to get the corners aligned properly in Camtasia 2021 mac.

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could it be your canvas snapping hindering you? You can use the arrows to move the duplicated clips left, right, down and up, or you can use precise controls on the properties panel to slightly nudge them all by the same X or Y value.

    I cannot zoom in to the left upper corner of the "T" with your explanation. When I attempt this the whole track expands. How is this done?

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure you are not pressing CTRL when you move the mouse wheel. That will resize the object instead of zooming in.

  • @mohamadjouma

    Thanks for your efforts my friend, but it's not so practical for me especially when I use my text as a subtitle that keeps changing every few seconds. So why not use the drop shadow from visual efects(locate in center, 100% opacity and little blur), That would be easier I guess for a dynamic text.Thanks again

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you're right. This is not good for very small texts or very long ones. Let's hope Techsmith implements the text outline soon.

    Its a creative workaround, but far,far,far to much work and invested/wasted time for to little reward. I can create a flawless PDF/Vector text online for free or in another program in just a couple of minutes. Or, add standard text be productive. Time is money.

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, this should be a function that's built into the program, I seriously don't understand why it's not yet... maybe something to do with varying, uncertain font geometry?
      But in any case, creating it in external programs is an option. The method shown here, while laborious the first time, gives you a reusable asset that you can change the font, color, text on. Easier than having to go to external programs every time. I think you save more time like that... Thanks for watching and for your feedback!
