As a rebuttal to my previous 5 reason TO move to the Philippines, Here is 5 reasons to NOTmove to the Philippines. #expat #philippines #alternativeliving
Yup. All of those you mentioned are on point - but we are still moving there. My husband and I both have SS benefits and pension but nowadays, with the inflation shooting off the roof we cannot afford to enjoy retirement here in the States and add to that the craziness that's going on here, we're bailing out. We're moving there in 5 weeks and can't wait to start living a laid-back, stress-free and idyllic life in the province. Thankfully, the Lord has blessed us both with good health. Interesting topic my friend, thanks. New subscriber here 🙂
I'm Sure you will be very appy here, just be very patient with the speed of things and never fear asking the locals for information, they will be happy to help.
Due to the heat and humidity ,along with the brownouts , you will not be comfortable without AC and a good generator. Be prepared for high electric costs. Food, medicine, wi fi, gas, propane costs same as in the west.
Well, you must be living very well indeed then. I think your living standards may be exceeding mine i think. Im sure my place is smaller, I have no car to support so thats part of it.
Not too sure about the ambulance comment, " everywhere and zip right to you" Phils doesn't have a nationwide phone number to call like USA 911. I live in Bacolod with my girl, and we talked about "what if" because I have heart issues, in this barangy they have an "ambulance", it's a van that does not include an EMT, just a driver and only if the "ambulance" is available, sometimes it is under maintenance for weeks, or the "driver" not available. If you have a serious accident and break a bunch of bones or need repertory assist, not happening, not radio ahead, don't expect pain relief from the "van" driver as he loads you up and rushes you off...
Well..im confused...I see them every day here in San Pablo, Laguna, Luzon. I mean really, like 10 or more.a.day I see driving around. Is there something i have yet to know I wonder? Are they private use only "ambulances" or what? I see them everywhere. Hmmmm...research time.
No one can save you from dying. Just enjoy your time on this earth. Ambulance America is not too cheap. But once you see your medical bills, you will have a heart attack.

You are hit it right on the money everything is true but you say the only problem I have with moving there with my wife is 4 hours away from the hospital Sun I just love been there done that plan on doing it again
1. Why do we tend to compare a developed country to a developing country. It is known that the hub city provides all needs, but moving out of these centers will pose a problem. Medical care in states I'll name, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, West Virginia might not be any better than the Philippines. 2. You are in a tropical paradise. 3. Noise, go to thw following cities, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. etc. the noise drives you coo-coo In the rest, who cares, just enjoy the comforts🎉🎉🎉. You jest is well received, hard work produces good content.
Philippines is made for Filipinos and America is made for Americans. Each of us has our own habitats. It is really hard to adjust in one place that you didn't use to live. Like me, I married to an American. When I first came here in the US, I felt homesick because I had no one to talk to when my husband is at work. The food I ate are all frozen and processed food which I didn't use to eat. I used to eat fresh food in the Philippines as alive fish, prawns and even vegetables and fruits. But I cannot complain. I chose to go with my husband because I love him very much and I need to adjust in order to work everything out including the culture.Yes, everything here in the US is comfortable because everything you need is here. But the simplicity of life, living in an affordable life and stress free is hard to find here in the US. Everything is expensive in the US right now. Including the taxes, hospital bills, and even the doctor's check up. And most of all, most of the people here are living in debt. You cannot live here in the US without debt.
It's true in Canada too. Perhaps you could see if he would consider moving back to the Philippines at least to retire...your retirement would be much more affordable that way...more money you could offer the kids and lower costs for your selves...the entire family could benefit from a plan like that.
He’s just letting people know so they can make an informed decision. He obviously loves it there since he lives there. Don’t be so butt hurt over constructive criticism.

Also: the government bureaucracy will drive yopu crazy, cheap filipino food is unhealthy and boring, driving a car or motorbike is dangerous because road rules are not followed, there is a skin tax and white foreigners are subject to higher prices because 'they can afford it, and if you are coming here for a love interest BEWARE you could be scammed now or years from now so chose wisely, and do not buy land or build a home on land bought in your Filipina's name. Let me repeat, DO NOT do it within the first 1-3 years. Rent and make sure she is the right lady, and that you want to live in the town you are in.
@@rounder400 Your a thinking man I can see that. Things can go wrong and YES, the chance that a land purchase will end things is a REAL possibility. I know...I've had it done twice....thus moving out of western life. Agreed. I’m writing this from my home in Virginia, and I’ve been to the Philippines. Perhaps a touch worse there, but only a bit. Overweight guys will be miserable in either place.
The hospitals in the province area's are a total joke, they have no care except a bandaid. They are terrible, and even in Cebu, its not near as good as a American hospital. I know from experience, spending 1 week in Chong Hua, wait to get into emergency room over 1 hour, and my wife had to pay P150,000 before I could get in! They billed us every day, and wife had to go out to get any prescriptions. Chong Hua, is one of the best in Cebu, its ok, but no where like a USA hospital
It's actually better than Canada in 95 % of things. I'm only telling people who are older in bad health to be careful things like that. I Love this country!
Hello; First of all thank you for the latest video. Great talent! We would like to know from you the following please: Will we lose our Canadian citizenship, and O.H.I.P. benefits if we live outside Canada for over 6 months every year? Could we possibly live abroad for over 6 months every year? If, yes...will my Canada pension, and O.A.S. pension, and income taxes be affected? Is there something that you feel we should know about retiring abroad for a period of 6 months every year or over? What are the penalties for living outside Canada ? Thank you for your time!
Thankyou for your interest in this topic, I must decline from attempting a complete answer...this is as close as I can come to an answer...your citizenship pet say is not directly affected, however your inclusion to the Canadian health care system may be effected, also there will result some loss of retirement benefit if you do not revisit Canada often enough to maintain full retirement inclusion. To get full and complete answer to your questions you should visit the Canadian govt web pages that cover this subject. Further the requirements to maintain full .medical and retirement benefits should be throughly addressed before considering living overseas beyond 120 days at a time.

Us old men with nothing to lose might still go for those younger legal women..do you think they really want you or love you ? Had pics of old men on their bedroom walls ?
Dude how long have you been here? We buy Brazilian rib eye for 675 pesos a kilo. Best I've ever had and we are not near a major city. I've had lots of awful experiences with american hospitals but here medical care is way less expensive than insurances in the west. But the system is different. You have to have some emergency cash on hand and family able to purchase pharmaceuticals many of which are not provided with hospitalization. I'm an Ex pat permanent resident RP for a decade. There are plenty of reasons not to live here but (with the exception of noise and unhealthy food) you missed the mark.
I was hoping someone would correct me. I was told by local guys that the Philippine beef is nothing like the Canadian or American beef. But it's all I can find locally. So I look at a steakhouse menu in Manila and all in is close to $300 CA. If you can show me where to but this beef you speak of I would be very grateful.
I have been here for 1 year. I'm hearing alot of conflicting opinions on the medical front. So.e say it's great..some say it's terrible, here in the comments. I'm going to leave it as it is and update as I have more experiance on the subject. My filipina says yea, you need a runner to get things for you. If you dont gave one your in a bad spot she says.
There is no good steak in PI: everything imported is smuggled from China and was frozen unfrozen many times don't believe anyone saying Brazilian stake for 675p. Local beef and pork chicken too all raised in cages on artificial feed and steroids. Expats who live here long time have philippino mentality and don't remember how normal food tastes like 😂😂😂 The same for med care - they just don't know what proper hospital looks like.
hospitals in america has all the modern equipment but the workers only care about money and if you live on a nursing home they treat you like shit if your poor you might live longer cause they will charge the insurance if your rich they will drain your bank account and probably die in couple years because they want your property and assets. and even the modern stuff hospitals have i seen 40 year old relative die on a simple surgery. so i won't put down a run down clinic in a third world country at least you only spend pennies when you die compare to america you will be bankcrupt and nothing left to leave for your family and you still die.
Agreed..but I'm not putting them down here in the Philippines. It's just that the VERY expensive ping things in American hospitals are there and only at a few select premier care centers here in the philippines. I'm sure the staff in Western hospitals are trying to do the right thing, but the health care providers that control your coverage, or lack of it due to the fine print...they are real bad people in America.

3. Noise, go to thw following cities, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. etc. the noise drives you coo-coo
In the rest, who cares, just enjoy the comforts🎉🎉🎉. You jest is well received, hard work produces good content.
Far from Paradise, but probably better to compare it with other poor SE Asian countries, rather than developed ones.
Talking about steaks or red meat is if you know the area or location in metro Manila or in tagaytay you can get it fresh not frozen not pricey.....
I would LOVE a less expensive option for western beef. I will keep hunting, thankyou!
THAT IS WHY IF YOU HAVE A MEDICAL ISSUE AND PROBLEM ABOUT YOUR ACHING HEAD YOURE DONE BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC
I don't worry about it now...when I die I die...I could get hit by a car in Canada and die just as easily.
Five very true things. But. It’s there way.
The people who have never left the Philippines know no other way.
It’s there way my brother.
I'm here to learn. Philippines offer MUCH in the way of learning to be a better human being. All foreigners should arrive with that mindset.
So you want me to leave? I have been here for 16 years now. Can you help me?
All I can say is this...I wish I had arrived here 16 yrs ago too
Philippines is made for Filipinos and America is made for Americans.
We consider Philippines for our retirement. We will see when we get there. Thank you!
THEN LEAVE. OR DONT EVEN COME. There.Problem solved.
He’s just letting people know so they can make an informed decision. He obviously loves it there since he lives there. Don’t be so butt hurt over constructive criticism.
That’s true. And funny. Cause I say the same thing about foreigners in my country. lol 😂
He’s just speaking the truth about the Philippines. take it or leave it
@@generosabaculi4381 take it or leave it? the audacity of this GIRL..this is OUR COUNTRY! we stay you leave.
we. will. not. adjust. for you. period. 😝

Great video. We have a great bar and grill with wonderful steaks where we have our place. Gonna keep it a secret so the place doesn't get overrun with expats. lol
Awww....LOL. no worries, I totally understand.
Good video, gives people something to think about before jumping on a plane.
Yes, it's a great place but there are some less than perfect things....but not enough to put me off, it's lovely here.
@rounder400 you can get hit by a car crossing the street in America so stay home and don't go out.
@@rounder400 Your a thinking man I can see that. Things can go wrong and YES, the chance that a land purchase will end things is a REAL possibility. I know...I've had it done twice....thus moving out of western life. So yea..no where is perfect and you must be wise...but you still have to live a life worth living so small risks are still OK.. go slow, go cheap, go safe. You will be OK here.
Hey Nelson time to make some more videos. What you been doing?
Sky scanner for airlines ....Phillippine Airline book 6 months Direct flights. avoid high season. FOOD S&R ( local Cosco) or Landers(Ralph Grocery style).
All good points. We like the local markets for our fruits and vegetables
Of course is totally different don't compare moon and the sun.
The same can be said for US.
Powered milk 🤮 never again did that when I was a kid
will last several years though compared to liquid milk 😁😁
@@maximodakila2873 that’s fact not sure which is made worse for consumption lol
ill take my country any time not in a oven
in reguards to hospitals thailand would be a better choice the healthcare system in thailand is A+
No friend, $ 3,000 is a First Class flight. Australia is not that close, Singapore is.
Last minute, direct flight to Canada, for example..last I checked was 2100 Us 1 way with a month advance. I would ❤️ better rates, where do you find these???
You only need one reason to not move, and that is balance of options
grear advice. hopefully more people take your advice and stay away. only the strong survive.
It's not meant to deter people or speak badly of the Philippines, just to say to westerners, it's not like back home. Life here is a serious struggle for many, you have to respect that.
Are you Canadian?
Could be. 😉
Thanks, way too hot! I'm in Québec.
Yes, it's hot. But I will take it. I hate winter.
If you can handle august in Virginia or most other usa states you can handle the heat in the Philippines.
I don't think you understand how hot it gets there!
Well..7:44am and it's now 30.1 C...whew !
@moderndaydrifter4672 I go there every year it's not worse than August in Virginia except ac is not comon
@SouthPaths I know my wife tells me everyday and she thanks me everyday for the aircon I put in the bedroom.
Agreed. I’m writing this from my home in Virginia, and I’ve been to the Philippines. Perhaps a touch worse there, but only a bit. Overweight guys will be miserable in either place.
EATING HEALTHY
Oh you can eat very healthy here, fruits and vegetables are everywhere here, it's a natural greenhouse.
Oh I know it's a challenge. Did you have a med plan or self-insured? I am self insured for now.
What about bugs?
Oh bugs...yea there are ants mostly as an issue..that's about it. But I had to choose 5 items only 😆
@@SouthPaths so mosquitoes no problem?
@@davehardan8323 nope. It's been a dry year so not alot of hatches..but uh...get your antimalaria etc shots. Hospital stays suck here too.
Are you from Canada
Yup.
Hi
Phoenix not humid but yes hot
My country is not perfect but its better than nothing 😊😊😊
It's actually better than Canada in 95 % of things. I'm only telling people who are older in bad health to be careful things like that. I Love this country!
For my condideration for major medical needs just travel to Guam or Hawaii where your Medicare will kick in.
Gotta be in proper shape to fly.
$3,000 for a flight??? Geez, I can get a flight to Thailand for over 1/2 that amount!
To Canada or US last minute.
Always keep that 20K emergency fund in the bank.
Good idea, next round.
Philippines is hospitable country..
Liar.
Hello;
First of all thank you for the latest video. Great talent!
We would like to know from you the following please:
Will we lose our Canadian citizenship, and O.H.I.P. benefits if we live outside Canada for over 6 months every year?
Language barrier??
No most people speak engrish
Nope, 90% speak English here, it's a main course in school, English is theboffial 2nd language here. Extremely common, even in the provinces.
It is a dump.....
☺️💸 But it's cheap !
YEA and America is so lovely this time of year in NYC LA or SF if you can get around Nazis, homeless, crackhead, home invaders and lying government.
100% agree! Trash is thrown everywhere and people don’t care
Obviously you have been there
@freerange6739 Was there 1985 first time in the Navy and went back right after Pinatubo. Lived in Angeles, Dumaguete, Cebu and CDO where I will return for good in February.
Nelson I know is hot my Country. And 2 if you are sick and your money is not enough of course you are 50/50 you need to make sure you have a money when you retired in Philippines and also need you have own house and solar so you are ok but if you money also is a little your doom don
Aslie want a small house with a garden...I've considered it but will not buy I think. We are too old to do that now. Renting is good for us. She is happy with a small garden either way.

Well..pretty much..if your health woes are not a fatal thing..OK, come on down and be careful..but if your down ton1 lung or something...well....that's a ponder alright.
Still way better than Canada
I think so too.
Why does everyone over look Saipan northern Mariana islands it's USA no passport need for USA citizens lots filopino ofw there much like the Philippines only 5 hours away from phillopines and has us post office good place to fix passports instead flying allways back to mainland USA just a thought lol 🤣 I'm going not as cheap as the Philippines but cheaper than mainland usa
You can "fix passports" while in Philippines, don't even need to go to the embassy everything done through courier mail 😂😂😂
@@VittoShulman true but see a lot guys fly back over other things like social security they have a social security office in saipan as well and only 5 hours flight just wondering I'm go to Saipan first seems a lot people avoid it you wouldn't no the reason would you

Theres nothing perfect Healthcare, even here U.S.A .
Or Canada..it's OK for minor things, but after breaking bones it's a bit of a bugger.
Your girlfriends hidden husband can pop in at anytime and kill you for being with her and the law is on his side or you can give him 25 thou pesos and move out.... do you need more reasons than that ?
Yes but, keep in mind he thinks sirloin is good steak.
Well...it is for a poor boy like me.
