Over crowded, pollution, lack of safe water, lines for EVERYTHING, and worst of all: if you are in a relationship with a Filipina you end up having to support her entire family.
Sorta like New York City, but it's a 5th of the cost. The family support thing is overstated, it's your option for the most part and supporting them is usually about $50 a month, less than than a coffee each morning.

I was in Cebu City. The doctors were pretty good, but even in their best hospital, there were dirty needles on the floor. Also the number of people waiting for the doctors was huge. The private hospitals in Bangkok are way better! I haven't been to Manila though.
I have not been to the hospitals yet either..knock on wood. As I understand it, private hospitals in major centers are far and away the best...then public. It's a 2 tier system here. If I have to go in for something serious....it will be to a private if I'm ok to travel that far...if not....well, that's the risk you take...
1. Why do we tend to compare a developed country to a developing country. It is known that the hub city provides all needs, but moving out of these centers will pose a problem. Medical care in states I'll name, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, West Virginia might not be any better than the Philippines. 2. You are in a tropical paradise. 3. Philippines is made for Filipinos and America is made for Americans. Each of us has our own habitats. It is really hard to adjust in one place that you didn't use to live. Like me, I married to an American. When I first came here in the US, I felt homesick because I had no one to talk to when my husband is at work. The food I ate are all frozen and processed food which I didn't use to eat. I used to eat fresh food in the Philippines as alive fish, prawns and even vegetables and fruits. But I cannot complain. I chose to go with my husband because I love him very much and I need to adjust in order to work everything out including the culture.Yes, everything here in the US is comfortable because everything you need is here. But the simplicity of life, living in an affordable life and stress free is hard to find here in the US. Everything is expensive in the US right now. Including the taxes, hospital bills, and even the doctor's check up. And most of all, most of the people here are living in debt. You cannot live here in the US without debt.
It's true in Canada too. Perhaps you could see if he would consider moving back to the Philippines at least to retire...your retirement would be much more affordable that way...more money you could offer the kids and lower costs for your selves...the entire family could benefit from a plan like that.
Great video. We have a great bar and grill with wonderful steaks where we have our place. Gonna keep it a secret so the place doesn't get overrun with expats. lol
Health care is NOT “excellent” anywhere in the Philippines. This opinion is based on over a decade here and multiple experiences in all of the top hospitals in the country.
Agreed..been here 12 yrs..have had major surgery once..and a few hospital stays in different hospitals.. Some are very good ...others are places one should run from!
Last minute, direct flight to Canada, for example..last I checked was 2100 Us 1 way with a month advance. I would ❤️ better rates, where do you find these???
The hospitals in the province area's are a total joke, they have no care except a bandaid. They are terrible, and even in Cebu, its not near as good as a American hospital. I know from experience, spending 1 week in Chong Hua, wait to get into emergency room over 1 hour, and my wife had to pay P150,000 before I could get in! They billed us every day, and wife had to go out to get any prescriptions. Chong Hua, is one of the best in Cebu, its ok, but no where like a USA hospital
It's not meant to deter people or speak badly of the Philippines, just to say to westerners, it's not like back home. Life here is a serious struggle for many, you have to respect that.
Yes...I just want forieners to be aware that it is a little different here...many of them expect to land in a place that is just like the USA. It better than the USA in most respects I think...but less adventures people may not be so happy.
I can't speak to that myself. I keep my funds in Canadian banks and simply use the Millions of ATM,S . I can say this however...when you see 2 guards outside of every bank in the Philippines with shotguns in their hands....you know it's not going to be robbed.
Agreed. I’m writing this from my home in Virginia, and I’ve been to the Philippines. Perhaps a touch worse there, but only a bit. Overweight guys will be miserable in either place.
It is a noisy place with trucks, karaoke at every house, roosters everywhere, simple tasks take all day, heaps of traffic,no one is ever in a hurry. And everyone wants your money or a gift.
Your girlfriends hidden husband can pop in at anytime and kill you for being with her and the law is on his side or you can give him 25 thou pesos and move out.... do you need more reasons than that ? Us old men with nothing to lose might still go for those younger legal women..do you think they really want you or love you ? Had pics of old men on their bedroom walls ?

I touch on dating. But as I've only dated 1...I can't be too involved in that, really. As for the rest, yes... some good and some bad. Overall though, I'm happy here, like the whole place, then people especially.
Finding healthy food. Sugar free ingredients or no msg is a nightmare forget eating out if your trying minimize ur salt or sugar intake. Only two sugar free soda options. Coke Zero or coke light but always out of stock.
We have no shortage of coke zero here in my locale. But I'm sure it depends.
@@SouthPaths yeah jealous i am in lapux2 and its a battle
You are hit it right on the money everything is true but you say the only problem I have with moving there with my wife is 4 hours away from the hospital Sun I just love been there done that plan on doing it again
Dulles to Cebu is 23 hours and that's shortest I've seen other than LA to Manila.
All good points! Another one would be if you have a problem abiding by the law. You dont want to go to prison in the phils.
Ohhhh..yes..yes yes....thankyou. That will be in the next one I make on this subject. I have had the prison life explained to me to some degree...it's not a place to be in...ever. Clean nose gentlemen.
I just subscribed, so hang in there and don't quit. I listen to several channel but I like your presentation and honesty that shows in your videos. Keep up the good work!
Philippines is hospitable country..
What time do the roosters start crowing?
Bwahahaha...well, about 4am...lol....but youn get used to it.
24 hrs
Its like 19 hours flight from the Northeast U.S.A plus your layover then its like 24 hrs.
Close..it's 13 or 14 from the west coast...it's a bear of a trip..cant imagine trying it with little kids.
Good video 👍❤️🙏🙏🙏
The heat and humidity not good mix.
Talking about steaks or red meat is if you know the area or location in metro Manila or in tagaytay you can get it fresh not frozen not pricey.....
I would LOVE a less expensive option for western beef. I will keep hunting, thankyou!
What about bugs?
Oh bugs...yea there are ants mostly as an issue..that's about it. But I had to choose 5 items only 😆
@@SouthPaths so mosquitoes no problem?
@@davehardan8323 nope. It's been a dry year so not alot of hatches..but uh...get your antimalaria etc shots. Hospital stays suck here too.
3. Noise, go to thw following cities, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. etc. the noise drives you coo-coo
In the rest, who cares, just enjoy the comforts🎉🎉🎉. You jest is well received, hard work produces good content.
Far from Paradise, but probably better to compare it with other poor SE Asian countries, rather than developed ones.
What about climatic disasters like hurricane
Typhoons.. here they are typhoons. You're quite right. They do occur on occasion. However, one can live further south out of the typhoon belt. As I'm speaking about the Philippines in general, that did not make the tight cut of 5 reasons.
Sky scanner for airlines ....Phillippine Airline book 6 months Direct flights. avoid high season. FOOD S&R ( local Cosco) or Landers(Ralph Grocery style).
All good points. We like the local markets for our fruits and vegetables
We consider Philippines for our retirement. We will see when we get there. Thank you!
Five very true things. But. It’s there way.
The people who have never left the Philippines know no other way.
It’s there way my brother.
I'm here to learn. Philippines offer MUCH in the way of learning to be a better human being. All foreigners should arrive with that mindset.
Their*
Great video. We have a great bar and grill with wonderful steaks where we have our place. Gonna keep it a secret so the place doesn't get overrun with expats. lol
Awww....LOL. no worries, I totally understand.
Good hospitals in Australia. But the wait is crazy loooong and some patients die before they get seen. It's very controversial.
Same un Canada and in UK. all major public systems have been under attack from for profit entities for 2 decades now.
So you want me to leave? I have been here for 16 years now. Can you help me?
All I can say is this...I wish I had arrived here 16 yrs ago too
in reguards to hospitals thailand would be a better choice the healthcare system in thailand is A+
Any good places to eat some Pizza?
Sure, Pizza Hut, Yellow cab. Lots of options for pizza.
Powered milk 🤮 never again did that when I was a kid
will last several years though compared to liquid milk 😁😁
@@maximodakila2873 that’s fact not sure which is made worse for consumption lol
No friend, $ 3,000 is a First Class flight. Australia is not that close, Singapore is.
Last minute, direct flight to Canada, for example..last I checked was 2100 Us 1 way with a month advance. I would ❤️ better rates, where do you find these???
Hey Nelson time to make some more videos. What you been doing?
The hospitals in the province area's are a total joke, they have no care except a bandaid. They are terrible, and even in Cebu, its not near as good as a American hospital. I know from experience, spending 1 week in Chong Hua, wait to get into emergency room over 1 hour, and my wife had to pay P150,000 before I could get in! They billed us every day, and wife had to go out to get any prescriptions. Chong Hua, is one of the best in Cebu, its ok, but no where like a USA hospital
Oh I know it's a challenge. Did you have a med plan or self-insured? I am self insured for now.
Would you move back to the USA given the chance?
Canada, actually, the answer would be no. There is nothing about Canada that I find even remotely compelling to return too.
I could never live in any of those countries, when I went to Bali, I loved it but realized that I would never go back to visit. Very uncomfortable.
Thailand has a decent standard of living with good medical facilities.
grear advice. hopefully more people take your advice and stay away. only the strong survive.
It's not meant to deter people or speak badly of the Philippines, just to say to westerners, it's not like back home. Life here is a serious struggle for many, you have to respect that.
The is many country’s for retirement destination but unfortunately no one will be perfect .
Yes...I just want forieners to be aware that it is a little different here...many of them expect to land in a place that is just like the USA. It better than the USA in most respects I think...but less adventures people may not be so happy.
move to the mountain areas (high elevation)
Cooler for sure!
Are the banks trustworthy?
I can't speak to that myself. I keep my funds in Canadian banks and simply use the Millions of ATM,S . I can say this however...when you see 2 guards outside of every bank in the Philippines with shotguns in their hands....you know it's not going to be robbed.
The same can be said for US.
What 300 for a steak 🥩 flown in from America 🇺🇸 thanks for sharing this
If you can handle august in Virginia or most other usa states you can handle the heat in the Philippines.
I don't think you understand how hot it gets there!
Well..7:44am and it's now 30.1 C...whew !
@moderndaydrifter4672 I go there every year it's not worse than August in Virginia except ac is not comon
@SouthPaths I know my wife tells me everyday and she thanks me everyday for the aircon I put in the bedroom.
Yes, all true. For some people, it's unacceptable, but for me, it's real live life. I love it.
Thanks, way too hot! I'm in Québec.
Yes, it's hot. But I will take it. I hate winter.
Are you from Canada
Yup.
You only need one reason to not move, and that is balance of options
Are you Canadian?
Could be. 😉
EATING HEALTHY
Oh you can eat very healthy here, fruits and vegetables are everywhere here, it's a natural greenhouse.
Hi
Phoenix not humid but yes hot
For my condideration for major medical needs just travel to Guam or Hawaii where your Medicare will kick in.
Gotta be in proper shape to fly.
