Good to see someone presenting an alternative to the many other alternatives usually presented. I'd actually want to change (reduce) my standard of living to something more manageable, and in every respect, not just financially. My modern one bedroom townhome apartment south of Manila is $70 USD per month. I’ve lived here for six years in 4 different places and have never paid over $100 a month rent. At one place, I only paid $40 a month including utilities. As a single guy, my cost of living averages around $250 a month. And that is a comfortable lifestyle, not luxurious, which is not my cup of tea, but I enjoy everything my heart desires. Wow that's a good deal on the rent. I'm amazed it's only $90. What's your breakdown of costs, you said that your monthly budget was around $1500 a month? Thanks.
Yes 1500 canadian. But it could be lower without all the snack food eating out and lazada buys etc. You could as an individual, you could easily do it on $1000 or $700 US .

Thanks for the informative video. Was wondering about the mosquitos at night and do you need screens on your windows. I’ve travelled to China Thailand and the mosquitos in China are horrendous in some areas so we are have to use air conditioning every night starting in May I know many Asian countries do not install screens and use the burning coils instead which I will never understand. How about in the Philippines. I live in OTTAWA btw 😊
I have seen very very few. Honestly not a problem. Now that being said...it's been a very dry few months here. So, I cannot say what may happen when the rainy season returns.
Very nice place for the two of you. Looks quite comfortable to me. But as a retired old man alone - I wouldn't want all that to have to take care of ! A small studio perhaps 1/2 that size @ most ? > $90 USD is a terrific price. - - - I've really been - 'wondering' - just ''how'' I might live over there on my $1525 USD SS check each month ? Sure appears like for my frugal lifestyle - perhaps 'half' of my income might be all I need (?) - '''most months''' ? ( $762.50 ) -- After -- all set up and established - maybe with a scooter too ? 🤔 Many apparently spoiled expats say you need $2500 minimum (USD) - while others say $1000 alone is enough ? -- Seems to depend on lifestyle -&- location ? -- - -- I really like what you showed me here !!! 🤗❤👍🙏👌
Well, we pay $90 US and it's a 2 yr old building with a store 50 ft away. Utilities for Electric, gas for the stove, high speed internet, and cell phone is about $75 to $90 US more. After that it's up to you how you buy your groceries and spend your time. It's the expats favorite places that cost more. You could have a maid visit twice a week for 2 hrs to tidy your place and check on you for about $100 more. It's not expensive unless you want it to be.
You have a beautiful place and a great price thanks for sharing. Question what's your monthly budget at? In US dollars? I would think under 1000.00 usa?
For both of us..Everything included...call it $1200 US or $1500 Canadian. That covers transport groceries, entertainment internet cell bill utilities rent etc.
@@fernandomofreita79 If we got very carefully with our spending, we could both live fine on about $750 US easily..we have alot of luxuries that many here do not.
I'm in the philippines now, always had an idea in the back of my mind to rent something very cheap like this. But how possible is it to set up things like internet? Or is that not possible in certain places?
Search for San Pablo Laguna rentals in Facebook market place. Lots of options there, but you will most likely have to do the actual lease in person here. But most posters know English very well and are happy to answer questions about a given rental.
@@Willtravelz that's gonna be tough. Mine is like 22. For 50 your looking at a house. Most people want at least 3 months for an elevated rate. A clean house in a decent part of town would be about $20,000 php.
Do a search in market place for the areas you want to look at and put up an advertisement too. Lots of possibilities, you could get a good deal. Trying don't hurt, put up a want ad.
i don't like condos personally , too close together too small , but i'm wondering how much would it cost to buy like 100-20" sqrm size lot there so i can build my own house on ( hollow block house of course) ,
Well, you might be disappointed in this response but...if your not a Philippine citizen, you cannot own land here, with very tough to get exceptions. I have heard of land that is considered worthless being allowed to forien ownership but very rarely. Best bet is to rent or if you can allow it, just long term lease land. You can buy land for your filipina....

Shes been away from home for 5 years now and honestly doesnt miss it but we do want to do a long vacation there sometime. Kids are only 3 1/2 and 16 months right now. I think I want them both to be at least 3. Even then .. I cant imagine dragging little kids through the Philippines. I know they do it, but I'm an American. So either we rough it with the busses, jeeps and trikes, which is fun for me, or we rent a car or maybe get private drivers and that gets EXPENSIVE. I mean you literally have to gear up for the jungle when travelling through the Philippines like that. Lite, airy, and on your toes. Thank you !
Thanks for the informative video. Was wondering about the mosquitos at night and do you need screens on your windows.
I’ve travelled to China Thailand and the mosquitos in China are horrendous in some areas so we are have to use air conditioning every night starting in May
I know many Asian countries do not install screens and use the burning coils instead which I will never understand. How about in the Philippines. I live in OTTAWA btw 😊
I have seen very very few. Honestly not a problem. Now that being said...it's been a very dry few months here. So, I cannot say what may happen when the rainy season returns.
Nice place honestly how long to get used to roosters and dogs at night while sleeping...if windows open ?
Thanks
It was a few nights... the dogs are silent to dawn normally as are the roosters mostly..unless spooked.
Good video
Thanks
I like the house perfect I land Iove the simple life my wife passed 3 years ago i retired in California can't wait to get out of here
Be sure your health is all ok, and come on over. beware the heat, its hot.
You have a beautiful place and a great price thanks for sharing. Question what's your monthly budget at? In US dollars? I would think under 1000.00 usa?
With all the extras included. Perhaps US $750. Minimum..if you want to be quite comfortable make it $1000 US.
@@SouthPathsis 600$ enough for a single person?
@@Anomalyy666absolutely yes! I can even live there with $400 a month..but if u grow your own food u can live with $250 a month
@@RomanMurallo but do you like it there? I know it's poor and very hot.
Wow! Your pad is only 2 years old? Man. ... That's stylin'. 😮
It's meant to explain that you "can" have a new home at a reasonable price.
Thank you for the video. If it's not too personal what would be a monthly budget for 2 people living there?
For both of us..Everything included...call it $1200 US or $1500 Canadian. That covers transport groceries, entertainment internet cell bill utilities rent etc.
Thank you.@@SouthPaths
@@fernandomofreita79 If we got very carefully with our spending, we could both live fine on about $750 US easily..we have alot of luxuries that many here do not.
Like it. Very good deal.
Thanks 👍
That camera is making me dizzy.
Yea..it was an early effort..sorry.
In the city, $95 is for bed space only…and you find it in densely populated areas.
About right. In Manila Cebu and Davo
@@SouthPaths also here in Baguio..
@@raymondmasliyan2603 really!?! I'm Bagio, that suprises me.
You got a good deal!! i wonder where u are. A small room in our place ( city) costs about 4Thou
What province are u in The Phil.??
We are in Laguna, out in the provinces. Near to San Pablo.
Hello Sir, and thank you for your interesting video, where approximately are you located, I'm interested in something like this.😊
San Pablo Laguna Philippines.
I plan to stay in Valencia, close to Dumaguete in Negros Oriental.
@@Craig_Anderson142 I hear it's nice down there but I have never been. I'm sure rents will be a bit higher due to its popularity.
@@Craig_Anderson142 look on Facebook market place, /Valencia/ rentals.
HI south path so when you got you're place was it furnished
No. That's a mix of old stuff from Aslies old house and new.
Nice video can you tell where you are what city.
We are near to San Pablo, Laguna province. About 85km south of Manila.
Nice find man.
Thanks! I think so too.
Btw, what part of the PI are you in?
Sna Pablo Laguna. Luzon.
@SouthPaths appreciate, your place looks great.
Hope you and partner are doing well.
Cheers 🍻 from Australia 🇦🇺
I'm in the philippines now, always had an idea in the back of my mind to rent something very cheap like this. But how possible is it to set up things like internet? Or is that not possible in certain places?
Search for San Pablo Laguna rentals in Facebook market place. Lots of options there, but you will most likely have to do the actual lease in person here. But most posters know English very well and are happy to answer questions about a given rental.
@@SouthPaths I'm looking for just 1 month to at longest 2 month rental under $250 a month. But at least 50 square meters. Any idea?
@@Willtravelz that's gonna be tough. Mine is like 22. For 50 your looking at a house. Most people want at least 3 months for an elevated rate. A clean house in a decent part of town would be about $20,000 php.
Do a search in market place for the areas you want to look at and put up an advertisement too. Lots of possibilities, you could get a good deal. Trying don't hurt, put up a want ad.
@@SouthPaths will do. Thanks again.
Hi, thanks for the enfos. How much is your electric bill sir?
Last month was 1800 Php , that's $43.00 Canadian or about $34 US.
Not sure if you mentioned where or which city you live in.
San Pablo Laguna.
How's life treating you back on the mainland?
All is well here in Canadia. Work work work. Save save save. Then, back to the arms I love.
Good price. Where are you ?
Near San Pablo, Laguna.
i don't like condos personally , too close together too small , but i'm
wondering how much would it cost to buy like 100-20" sqrm size lot there so i can build my own house on ( hollow block house of course) ,
Well, you might be disappointed in this response but...if your not a Philippine citizen, you cannot own land here, with very tough to get exceptions. I have heard of land that is considered worthless being allowed to forien ownership but very rarely. Best bet is to rent or if you can allow it, just long term lease land. You can buy land for your filipina....
Is this in San Pablo, Laguna??
Yrs it is.
I like hot water. My wife is used to it now too, can't imagine being without it.
It is a treat for Aslie if we goto a resort or hotel in Manila.
@@SouthPaths We're still waiting for the kids to get a little older and my savings to get a little fatter before we come back.
You cant be dragging pallets of huge suitcases and diaper bags around, its just going to make you a victim.
We stayed at the Hilton Manila and the Hyatt near the airport on the way out and in. Last chance to spoil a girl like that because we knew we wanted kids, so have to conserve the money after that.
@@Electrichead64 yes its VERY different with kids along. Once they reach 5 or so...easier to keep up to you then.
In which city is this condo located? It looks to be a great deal.... Makati condos start at 20,000 pesos per month
Close to San Pablo, Laguna province. About 85km south of Manila.
That's an awesome place. I keep thinking these titles are clickbait! Lol.
Nope..common accommodation and price outside the large centers.
Yes, the best kind. .......I like!
😊
Not sure if it was mentioned in the video, but what area is this? Cheers
San Pablo, Laguna. 15 min south of the city.
What part of the Philippines is this?
San Pablo, Laguna province, Luzon Island, Philippines.
Nice place but i wonder about the neighborhood. How safe is it from breakin when you're not there? How far away are you from town? Would like to see a little more of your surrounding area. BTW, where are you from? Great video😊
We live about 15 min from the city of San Pablo. Everything is there. I am from Calgary Canada.
The worry about theft is very low. We live in the village center so lots of eyes watching and the security cameras placed out side by the store owner across the street help too. It's rare.
Nice place which part of the Philippines?
San Pablo, Laguna. Look it up on Google maps.
What province you live in
Laguna.
