Certainly not, the congested traffic, pollution, heat and humidity and extreme weathers. Plus you're inside the bubble, it only gets worse outside. Go to a Swiss city and you'll change your mind quick.
In pursuit of happiness and containment please try PH. 😅 The country of smiles and hospitality 😂 thanks for this blog. It is an eye opener to everyone. 😂
I retired in the USA a year ago. My property taxes are going up $100 in January to over $800 a month and its really disheartening and makes you question staying here. If I sold everything my Filipino spouse (U.S. citizen now) and I would live great there. I have a pension, social security, and a 401K as well but the biggest hurdle is my son who is a junior in high school. If he did go with us, he would stay in college until he gets his PhD in engineering to give him his best chance at employment there. I can get a SRRV and bring him (must be under 21) but the clock is ticking after graduation. He could get a work visa afterwards but wonder what his future would be there. He would make less money of course, but money isn't everything and know he would do well anywhere with a brain like his. When the girls get a load of him, he would be chased to a degree he would be shocked (smart, rock star looks, extremely fit, music prodigy guitar/keyboard etc.) and doubt he would complain. Anyone else who brought their older child to the Philippines have an opinion?
I had the same dilemma as you with my 3 kids. But I decided in the end to wait until they graduated from high school and college to give them the best opportunities in life. My wife and I are now living in Bangkok, enjoying life.
You really have a knack for words, but I'm disquieted a bit when you said that the true gospel of freedom is to be able to live comfortably just like you do at BGC. But you might wake up one day that it's not all there is to it. True freedom and fulfilment can only come through understanding the true gospel of Christ. Having a right relationship with Him is what real life is all about.
You'd rather surround yourself with Good people while having Gospel. You want good neighbors, not a neighbors that can murder you anytime and stole something from you. If you're building a family, would you like your kids to grow with that neighbor or you wanna raise them where you know they're safe
Joy & happiness are found within, I agree. But why continue enduring a hostile, unaffordable environment when there is a much better alternative? That's the decision I made 10 years ago on my first visit to the Philippines. I'm retired here now and out of the stresses and survival mode of the US. You have to have a high income to have any kind of decent life in the US nowadays. Not suitable for people on a modest retirement. Why keep fighting it? Sure, there are things I miss about the US especially family and friends but the affordable lifestyle here enables me to go back to visit on a regular basis. It's just too divided, political and expensive in the US anymore. It doesn't feel safe on the roads or in public with road rage and shootings. The tipping culture has gone out of sight where you almost have to tip for just about everything when you're already paying an inflated price. Housing and rental costs are a sick joke. It's not the USA I grew up in, in the '60s and '70s by a long shot.

Even i diddnt saw and landed at BGC it is nice and had a big space for walkable area unlike in Makati in which the walkway is too.narrow with a big building on each side. I went to makati when i was working there . I think BGC is the best city in the Philippines better than Makati. Even Makati is the economic capital of the Philippines but now there is more beautiful cities in the Philippines more than makati Makati. Perhaps after few years CLARK CITY WILL RISE AS THIS IS HAD A BIG AREA AND BIG CITY which is near to the northern province in Manila..
Brian, you need to expand your horizon. BGC is not Philippines. I understand you're in love with your living arrangement, but very few locals can relate to you. The majority of Filipinos struggle each day just to make ends meet. You mentioned in your other videos that you pay P35,000/month for your BGC condo. Many Filipinos don't even make half of that in a month. Many of our kababayans go abroad and leave their families behind to make P50,000/month. You're living a lifestyle that even some Americans and other foreigners can only dream of, let alone Filipinos. I'm happy for you that living your dream, but to the majority of Filipinos, that's all it is......a dream. Have a nice day. 😊😎✌️🙏
With plenty exsperiance here there too and fro country's are big and diverse it is the exsperiance exsactly where you are. I know places in both country's you are refrencing and hands down there are places in the USA. That Beat anywhere on earth the totality of the exsperiance I guarantee you will not live to be 100 there and your sales pitch is off on the truthful exsperiance of my USA. BUT then I did not choose portland or any other shit hole.
Do you think life in the Philippines is better than in Western countries? Why or why not?
Certainly not, the congested traffic, pollution, heat and humidity and extreme weathers. Plus you're inside the bubble, it only gets worse outside. Go to a Swiss city and you'll change your mind quick.
Only if you're rich lol. stop giving this illusion that the majority of Philippines is BGC
Probably be expensive than the Philippines@@GH-uo9fy
Depends on one's standard of living and it's quality of life, if it satisfies the individual lifestyle it's more convenient...
Yes better .people are more respectful. No mass shooting there.u don't see homeless tents everywhere. Lots of problems in the west now.
