That is amazing, thanks for the tip!
Can you exclude some objects from that override?
Other softwares and render engines can do that.
Let's say, you're doing an interior design, you're in a room, so you want to exclude your windows glass from the override so the glass stays as glass and won't block the interior light if it becomes clay.
You can achieve that with multiple view layers and combining the renders in the compositor.
@@MassimoRubinelli How? On one layer, I added override, and on another, I used glass material. How do I combine both now?
@@oreynani3778 I just published a video to show you how to do that. Wait few minutes to watch it in HD. I hope you find it helpful: th-cam.com/video/e1p2GOr-XTQ/w-d-xo.html
@@oreynani3778 One thing I might do is add the things you want to be a certain material into a collection. then you can instance that collection in geo nodes and set material on it. add as many or as little collections as you like
I use emission materials for lighting sometimes and I’ve been trying to find a way to do override without effecting the emission materials
Try selecting all the objects u want to change material and press ctrl + L, link the materials to the selected objects ;)
Great tip! That sparkly play-doh material you've got there is pretty amazing, too. 🤩
Thanks! Its actually a paid procedural material, but I have a tutorial linked at the end of the video for another clay alternative.
@@Smeaf it’s so beautiful. Where can I purchase that clay material?
@@pianoatthirty 90% sure it's ClayDoh, you can find it on blendermarket
Oh yeah, its actually on sale right now on Blender Market, you can grab it here blendermarket.com/products/claydoh?ref=431
*This is an affiliate link btw
This is so handy! I had no idea this was possible!
Your video's are very gentle and good, and i like it and i learn something new everytime.
Thanks for the reminding . its super useful
the editing in this video!! and THE KNOWLEDGE! and wow I def didn't know this
Thank you! I'm glad someone enjoys the edits haha 🔥 🙏
omg I always wondered how ppl do this!! thanku
I used to save a new file and link the whole scene to an object with the texture I wanted... this seems way less destructive... and practical if you make changes in your animations ^^
Coooool ! I was looking for thiiiis exactly
Really helpful
Amazing tip, thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful! 🔥
Thanks for a Tip!Cool!
Bench watching all your stuff!
am learning!!!
Great tip!
Thanks!
Thanks a lot 🙏!! Great!
bro you're so good
Thanks man!
Awesome!
Thank you
Thanks for a tip=) But it would be great also can change only the basecolor and keep the normal map. Anyway, tnx, dude!=)
I love this channel
you are right. i did not know this
Love your voice and presentation very much
Am I allowed to feel special if I belong to the 5% who knew this trick already? :]
Thank you for sharing though, this will help many people!
Absolutely!
I am in 5% too, I am so happy and feeling special. Lol :D
How did you find out 95% of people don’t know about this feature? :D
I looked in Blender's dev log
@@Smeaf awesome, I had no idea blender’s dev log has that sort of info. What’s the link please? Will come in handy for some of my vids 👍
@@3d-illusions i bet its not mentioned anywhere, since you got no answer..
Wow!
is there any way to add exceptions to the clay material? i'd like to keep my glass materials and override the rest with the clay texture
You would need to do something like a mix shader and just mix the glass and clay material together. I hope that helps!
The setting is per-view-layer. So you could combine multiple view layers in the compositor, some with overrides, some without.
So I’m in the 5%. Nice
Boom Subscribed
Thank you 🙏
I think there is a built in addon for this.
In blender 2.79 it is present but i haven't checked in later version.
Wouldn't be a Smeaf tutorial without pulling focus on the backdrop
Como é que ainda tem gente que quer gravar 10 minutos pra ensinar isso? hahahaha
Muito obrigado.Abraço.
I knew it ! 😅
There is already an addon for this built-in in blender...
Ah dayum!! Official.
I'd say it's kinda misleading that you imply the linked tutorial would make a "clay" shader that looks similar to this one.
fr
Stop recommending next videos, I can't stop watching them agh 🗿
So... you're telling me... that I'm part of the 5%!? 😲🤯
How is that different from creating 2 cubes and not giving them any texture? :/ I'm confused. It's like "do nothing, and tada, here it is"
I hope you get what you're looking for!
hah! i knew this
good video though
Jerma if he did blender
Lmao
bro cant focus his camera on himself 😭😭😭
hey, great videos on your channel! By the way, you look like my friend, were you born in December by any chance?
I thought it'll be workbench render
I know what feature you don't know about
Focus setting
looks like you missed the focus 😅
Bummer about the out-of-focus face...
why would you just change the matcap in solid shading render view? not sure why this is useful
Because the Matcap doesn’t render, it’s just the viewport shading you are seeing
In a behind the scenes and breakdown clay render is required, also a niche use is that if you post a photorealistic post in r/blender you have to include a clay pass lol
@@exorcist3d99 great point as well!
that camera was BLURRYYY
did u learn?
i want my time back
why tf cant you get ur focus right boy
im the 7000th fuckin comnt
Evil baity video title :(
"95% of Blender Users Don’t Know This Feature.."
K but jesus learn to focus your camera
For those of you who came in here hot thinking that you can just make a material, call it clay, and you’re done, we are sorry to inform you that nothing is that easy. Ever.
you didn’t explain what that does
It creates a 'Clay' override material for each object in your scene. You can turn it on and off to quickly make lighting decisions/get a WIP render out for your socials :)
Loving these videos! Please never stop. Also dropped by your Instagram - beautiful stuff!
Thanks Robin! 🙏
