The explanation about the food was in Volume 1. Pyrrha noted that their weapons were conduits for aura, their aura kept the food from breaking.

It always amuses me to hear Emerald talk about the book "The Thief and the Butcher", knowing that in the end, it is her and Mercury who are a thief and a murderer. Good way to introduce yourself.
And the poor shopkeeper, who has lost the use of speech since the incident of episode 1 of volume 1 (and now lost is wallet too).
This food fight scene is always great to see and the "Sister, friends... Weiss" always crack me up.
Cinder based on Cinderella is easy to crack, like Jaune Arc for Joan of Arc, so it does not matter if they have already found ^^.
Hahaha thanks for the Cinder relief… I was afraid since last episode (as these were recorded back to back to back)
And yeah, funny enough I never made that connection between The thief and the Butcher until this premiere which someone mentioned it, and you here confirming it… really cool comparison.
And I agree, Weiss’ “Heeey!” Makes it that much better 🤣

Oh, most everyone misses it, including me when I watched it a few times, but after Weiss gets hit in the face they show JNPR. At 8:36 you see a reference to "See no evil (Ren covering his eyes). Speak no evil (Pyrrha's hand over her mouth in shock). Hear no evil (Jaunne leaning on his hand with it on the side of his face)."
2nd is about those plates that you were worried about hurting them when they were on the wall. Their aura was protecting them the entire food fight and since it can stop a weapon's blast, it can easily handle a few plates, glasses, and silverware.
I noticed that everyone missed Ruby's speedup music. If you notice, when she's crouching down to go super speed, the music changes to the same music that was used when she used Crescent Rose, to speed up her attacks, when fighting the wolves in the Red Trailer.
"I'm queen of the castle! I'm queen of the castle!" This was a reference back to the 8th chapter from the last volume, when Nora picked up the "castle" chess piece in the ruins.
This is the first time that we see Ruby change shape when she goes super speed.
The wall art caused by Ruby matched what you'd see in a kaleidoscope.
If you look at the people in the background, you'll see a lot of Jaunnes. They used a copy-paste system to make the background characters faster and easier. So the Jaunne who was thrown up against the glass window may have just been one of the many background characters, or it was him.
You'll notice that their clothes are spot free until after you see them standing around talking and laughing about the fight.
The reason for the fight was a gift to the fans. The fans had been saying a lot about who would win in a fight, RWBY or JNPR. They made the food fight to safely show who'd win.
I don’t know about you, but whenever I have a bad day, I pull up the food fight. It never fails to cheer me up.

mercury is based off well mercury (hermes) LMAOO and emerald is based off aladdin and yup you guessed it cinder is cinderella 😭
I, like the certified idiot I am, couldn’t put 1 & 1 together with Mercury.. granted, Im not verse on Roman Mythology, but those who do, Im pretty sure this was Obvious af.. 🤣

Best food fight ever, and with an in-universe reason why the food is so sturdy as well, that's already been explained. The real question about it is, why do they have a full swordfish there? Are they expecting the hungry students to descale and gut the fish? Ruby is about 15, with all her other schoolmates being 17.

It is THE ONLY THING completely out of place there 🤣
But I guess they needed something for Weiss other than Ketchup 😂…

You guys should react to the volume soundtracks after you finish each one. They have some absolute bangers. Just as a heads-up, there is a side-series called "World of Remnant" that does some world-building for the show, a comedy spin-off series called "RWBY Chibi" that starts after volume 3, and some character shorts that are like the trailers you guys watched but have a bit of backstory in them that also start after volume 3. You should give those a watch, too.
Yeah, we’re definitely trying to do the Soundtrack; although the whole crew might not be able to participate on it.
We already have difficulties syncing Schedules, so we rather sync it up for the actual episodes.
So the soundtrack will probably be with both Jake and I.
As for Chibi, if the demand is there, plus the crew’s availability, then we might take it on, but no promises yet..

Nice group reaction. Some of the guesses were great. As the WoR episodes, IIRC they were originally released after every third episode, except the DVD exclusive one on Aura. You can use that schedule if you want.
We’re definitely going to be watching these, as it will be a great way to fill in the gaps in knowledge (plus I dont think I personally have watched them, so they could be part of the few I wont know much about).

I'm going to be honest.. It took me till this episode to look up who emerald was- I haven't caught it in my umpteenth times watching this damned show and I honestly don't even know how to compute cause I NEVER would of guessed that.
Yeah I loved who she is, And I was able to piece it together the 2nd time I watched the backstory…
This team has an amazing creativity whenever it comes to the characters and their inspirations…

Fun fact, everyone except for RWBY is at least 18 so they’re all being dorky young adults causing a food fight.
I believed that Ruby was 14-15 and everyone else was only 2 yrs older…
Either way… if I was in my Senior year, I would’ve participated in this food fight regardless 🤣

I commented once when you should watch the world of remnants etc. Did you already record the bideo at that point or do you still need to know when to watch the WoR etc.?
We havent watched any of these, I do recall now you leaving a Comment of the sorts.
I will go ahead and Hunt it down, as I believe it was around the 2nd or 3rd reaction we released.

I looked it up and from what i found, the volume 2 WoR (Dust, Kingdoms, Grimm, Aura) you can watch right away or after volume 2, there are no big spoilers in it.
The first 3 WoR of Volume 3 (Vytal Festival Tournament, Huntsmen) you can watch before you start Volume 3, the fourth WoR of Volume 3 (not gonna say what it's called cause of spoiler) you should watch after Volume 3 because of major spoilers.
And before starting Volume 4 you can watch the character short, then the Volume 4 WoR (Vale, Mistral, Atlas, Vacuo, Between Kingdoms, Faunus, Schnee Dust Company and The Great War). After that you can go on and watch Volume 4.
After that i dont think that there are any more WoR.

The most epic foodfight on the internet. I say this in every reaction to this chapter: "All our weapons and equipment are conduits for aura," therefore melee baguettes beat ballistic watermelons.

and technically it was kinda explained already why the bread is so "stale". lol. When Pyrrah told Juane about aura back when they were in the forest for initiation: "All our weapons are conduits for aura." I always get a kick out of people commenting on the stale bread. Almost every reactor. lol :)

My favourite thing about this show is that they don't explain things like this outright. They want you to remember things and think it through. It's awesome!

Yeah, I’ve mentioned it in a couple of episodes, plus in some comments, But I finished Vol 7 and stayed there (a few yrs back), because I knew I wanted to make a reaction of it eventually.
