I'll allow myself to add some trivia too:
- Sun only makes two clones of himself because when Monty tries to make three, his computer crashed. Poser apparently couldn't stand it.
- Neo's design inspired Casey Lee (the singer of the opening) to do the same hair color.
This episode is still very cool for the references to the trailer and the fight, in addition to the ship names. And then I really like the song "Die" which is played in the background during this fight. Small precision in passing, concerning the semblance of Yang, she feels the blows anyway ^^ '. She feels the pain she takes, her semblance does not make her invincible.
That first piece of trivia made me laugh. I can just see Monty now, “oh well… I guess twos good enough”
@@liquidjake7672 Ah, I take advantage of your answer to ask, are you going to also react to the songs? You didn't do it for volume 1, but seeing that the songs are a good complement to lore and sometimes quite important on the characters, even if you don't do it in video, I recommend listening to it and reading the lyrics.

One of my favorite moments from the entire series is the Ice Flower combo-attack. The animation + the naming itself + the part of the music that was playing over it, all came together perfectly. Definitely one of the best moments, considering all aired volumes. RT really had a knack for breaking from norms and subverting expectations. Maybe I just didn't watch enough similar stuff, but the first 3 volume absolutely blew me away, in terms of story, fight choreography, lore, the language used, names for characters, names for weapons, their transformations, allusions, plot-twists, reveals, music, lyrics...etc. It was so new. I've never seen anything quite like it. And I always get a kick out of creative use of the English language, especially. Since it's not my mother tongue and I had a love for it since my childhood.
Hell...it's not even the fighting, choreography and world-building that got me hooked. It was the scenes in chapter 2, where Ruby was fawning over other people's weapons and we heard the name of her weapon for the first time. "Crescent Rose" BOOM! Went my mind. Chill down my spine. In a good way. Stuff like that, whenever I hear it in animation, live-action or when I read in a novel, it gives me a literary boner. To put it crudely.

I’m pretty sure Neo is based off of Mary Poppins cause of the umbrella and a few other things but I could be wrong lol
Yeah you see more in a later episode with the whole umbrella thing but I won't say more than that.

Regarding who Neo could represent : I've seen people say that Torchwick acts almost like The Joker from Batman, and since Neo is always with him, I guess she could represent Harley Quinn. Also, to add to the trivia about Sun from another commenter : the reason Sun and Neptune's scenes are so short is because the rig for Sun's weapon was too complicated to make new animations with. Ruby was also originally supposed to explain Yang's semblance to Neptune (which would have made more sense than explaining it to Blake, who should already know about it).
The intro was just to good and we even got a "double reaction" :D

I was under the impression that Neo was a representation of Alice in Wonderland as her semblance is imagination.
How does a machine have an aura... what mad science has Atlas been up to? A question to return to, later. Think John Wick, then replace John with Torch. Great fight, showing new weapons and semblances (and explaining an old one). The team attacks show some of what they learned over the last semester. Meet Neopolitan, added at the last second when someone realised they needed an extra character for later things. Her design was based on a genderbent Torchwick cosplay by one of Monty's female friends. Neo becomes a favourite of many, despite her utter lack of character; Casey Lee Williams has cosplayed her in the past.

I just love to see you all meet my favorite tiny villain. I mean, if Ozpin came to me (like S1Ep1 to Ruby) and be like "come to the good side, we have cookies!"
And on the other hand Roman torchwick came and say "come to the evil side, we have icecream" ... I think I would slightly lean towards evil and start to fangirl all around neo ^^
Just saying neos appearances in the show and chibi made her best evil girl (best good girl/queen = Weiss :D )

Yeah, No, Neo is definitely a huuuge Crowd Favorite, all the way from her looks to her grace & fighting style is just so well executed…
Any time Neo is on screen you know you’re in for a treat..

Penny and Ruby = "nuts and dolts"
You asked questions during the show instead of during the discussion after the show. Because of that, you missed one of my favorite scenes in this show. Where Neptune comes up beside Yang at the bar and after the bartender says that his guys never returned, Neptune says "So what happened to them?" The bartender gives him a like he's an idiot and says that they never came back. Then he looks at Yang and asks who Neptune is. lol It shows that Neptune isn't the brightest bulb in the pack.
Then again, you were talking during Weiss' character growth when she makes a joke about their plans "falling apart" and the others give her a hard time about it being bad.
During the discussion, you mentioned Neo coming in at the last point due to the cosplay employee. What you may not have known is the decision that Monty had to make. They didn't have time to do any more fighting animation with Neptune and Sun if they added in Neo. So, it was either give Neptune and Sun a part in the battle to come or scratch them and give Neo a part. As you can see, Monty liked the cosplay so much that he opted for Neo, which is why they're sitting at the noodle shop.
If we were going to crowbar a character inspiration for her Mary Poppins works. I prefer the idea that she's supposed to be Jiminy Cricket - she's the shortest adult character in the show (at least for the next few seasons), carries an umbrella and her footwear is very similar in design to Jiminy's, and is paired with another character based on a Pinocchio character. There the similarities end, though - but interestingly in every other respect she's kinda the opposite of Jiminy Cricket - she's villainous and will make the first legitimate attempt in the show to straight up kill someone (Yang) later in the season (I mention this only because I see you're well past that point) whereas Jiminy is literally someone's conscience and she's a mute, whereas Jiminy is overly verbose.

Neos real name is trivia which is the roman name for hecate
I'm sorry I just can't watch you guys talk over half the episode and the best scenes. Yeah it's understandable, it's a reaction, you have to comment, but it's better, like many other reactors do, to just pause or rewind a little when you have a whole ass conversation while (not) watching
Appreciate the try, it does get better at Vol 3 since the majority is new at that point,
But we get your criticism. And kind of like you said, we do need to comment over the episode in most shows hence why we do it here, and here we didn’t record the episode as we went, so going back wasnt a thought back then… in Vol 3 we do scroll back after the episode to talk about things.
But like we said, we appreciate the try. Hope you find another set of reactors that you prefer

@@TheWeebsCloset I just checked the vol 3 reactions and you're right, it's way better. I definitely enjoyed them, so if anyone shared my opinion on my first comment, I recommend not to give up on them and check out their vol 3 reactions before you decide
There’s to much talking over the voices of the show.
Have you been following all of our videos, or just joined in?
Asking, because We do explain why we do this in multiple occasions through Volumes 1 & 2.
But just in case, Most of us at the point of this video have watched through Vol 2 (Only Jake was entirely new to the series).
This makes it difficult for us to not have comments slip out, since IF we DO stay quiet through the thing, then you'll only be seeing 1 person react to the show and the rest look uninterested (which we are all interested, hence why the comments happen).
We understand that you guys like to Rewatch this show, and like to use Reactions as a way to do so, while getting some other type of feedback added to it. But After our many Emails with Roster Teeth, it was clear that Just showing the episode and Not talking over it was a No Go. Do keep in mind that the video you see has been edited so our voices overpower the episode, not only because that's what was agreed on with Roster Teeth, but because we want you to hear us and our comments. BUT if you do follow us up to Vol 3 you'll see a HUGE difference because the show at that point is new to most of us (Nekko being the only one to have watch through Vol 7). So you'll probably find that more enjoyable.
Another thing to keep in mind with this Episode in particular is the fact that the mics and camera died at 2 different points of the reaction, making us having to re-record the second half so this episode was more of a discussion rather than a reaction. We do apologize if it's not to your liking, but all of our episodes differ, so if the talking bothers you, you can always check out Volume 3.

Neo is a crowd favorite but also a character that people know that she really only exist to do stuff or get in the way which is where people dislike her character.
Kinda late to this one...
But yeah, I can see how that would be annoying...
Hopefully in the later seasons they explore her character a bit more..
