When reacting to RWBY you don't need to change audio or fade the video! Roosterteeth actually enjoys when people do this and they want them to, if you get a copyright claim on it they are usually very easy going to get it taken care of and all sorted out!

Absolutely, I reacted to the entirety of volume 9. I believe it was the first episode that got blocked when I uploaded it. I sent a quick email to Rooster Teeth and they responded within an hour and got it put through. I was honestly amazed how fast they responded and helped me out with getting it up. As long as you're okay with it being unmonetized. You can put out full episodes without any issues. It's TH-cam that causes the problem with their automated blocking systems. Even then, only one episode out of the whole last volume I reacted to got initially blocked. The rest went up without any issues, didn't have to contact them again. If you are a reactor, this is literally the best show to do. Because Rooster Teeth are one of the only companies that actually want people to react to their show. No matter what people think of the series (it's amazing by the way!) It's so important to show them support for how awesome they are with reaction channels.

RWBY is pronounced "ruby" and is an acronym for the names of the four main characters (Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang), as well as their colors (red, white, black, yellow). It's hard to explain the plot without spoilers, but basically girls training to fight monsters. The music is all done by Jeff Williams and sung by his daughter Casey (she takes over for him in volume 9).
The creator Monty Oum was kind of a legend when it came to animation, but he passed away between volumes 2 and 3. His fights were a BIG draw early on, especially since it was very low budget, so fights are where the animation kicked off, but now with a higher budget the rest of the animation is far better and more consistent.
It's really good, one of my favorite shows, and I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, there's a vocal subsection of "fans" that do nothing but search for RWBY related videos so they can go off about how shitty they think it is. Don't listen to these people. If you decide to watch it, go in with an open mind and form your own opinions.

@@musicisum0405 The difference with RWBY's flaws and other shows' flaws is it seems the RWBY writers don't want to improve. I can't tell you how many times the writing and plot just do not flesh out well. Now this isn't to say the show isn't entertaining, a lot of shows that are rushed or not fully fleshed out I still personally enjoy. But I think the haters scream about their opinions because they want the writers to hear it (but even then, yelling and kicking about flaws is never the right way to critique anything)

Always fun seeing people get introduced to RWBY. As many have pointed out already, that video was outdated as Volume 9 has been out for a while plus there's the actual RWBY anime, Ice Queendom which has 2 openings (though it's more 2 different ops using the same song) you might want to check out too if you want to complete the openings at least before watching more. :)

The music and fight scenes are definitely what draw a lot of people into RWBY. They watch a couple of seasons and stick around because they fall in love with the characters and their story arcs.
If you get into it, definitely check out the sound tracks for each season. The Williams are amazing and Casey's voice meets every challenge the song writing can come up with.
Be sure to turn on subtitles when watching the songs (openings or otherwise) because the lyrics tell the story of RWBY, although they don't usually make sense until the season has unfolded.

RWBY is an action fantasy story, and all the characters are allusions/references to classic fairy tales and stories. The 4 main characters for example are based on Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Belle from Beauty & the Beast, and Goldilocks. There's also the Wizard of Oz characters, Hansel and Gretel, Mulan, Thor, Joan of Arc, Achilles, Pinocchio, Cinderella, and a whole Alice in Wonderland themed season.
Not only are the openings fire, but the entire OST is as well, an entire album's worth of great music for each volume/season of the show. I highly recommend it.

The lead singer is Casey Lee Williams. Jeff Williams, her dad, is the backup vocalist/musician/composer of the songs you heard, up until he retired from making music for it before the 9th season. Casey was 14 years old when she sang the intro for the 1st season. There are 4 trailers for RWBY (Ruby). When she sang the music for the Red trailer she was just 12 years old. The series music is considered to be one of the best things about the series. It's always on-point. It's even won and been nominated for awards because of it. Even those who don't end up liking the series admit that the music is top-notch.
The 1st 2 trailers were done by Monty Oum, the series creator, by himself as a proof of concept to the management at Rooster Teeth, the studio who produced the series. He was considered to be a genius fight choreographer. Sadly he died between the production for the 2nd and 3rd seasons. He didn't get a chance to see that his series became so popular that it finished its 9th season this year and caused Warner Brothers to buy the studio. They went so far as to make a Justice League x RWBY Crossover movie of the series. Sadly, they pulled the series from being free on the RT website and put the 9th season and the movie behind the Crunchy Roll pay-wall. Which is why I haven't seen it yet.
As you saw, the animation gets progressively better as the popularity and budget increases. It started out with just a handful of animators working on it. To show how shoestring the budget was, one of the lead voice actors, the girl in white, was the front desk receptionist at the studio. Monty asked her if she'd ever thought of doing VA work and she replied that she hadn't. He told her to try it out and we've never looked back. Some hugely well known English VAs appear in the series as well.
If you watch the series, you'll have to pay attention to it. They like to put Easter-eggs in the show that will be referenced later in the series. They also have a story-telling style of showing something happening and then showing how, or why, it happened later in the series. Sometimes the next episode, while other times it can be seasons later on.
All but a couple of the characters are based on historical, mythological, and fairy tale figures. Part of the fun is trying to figure out who is based on which of those characters.
I hope you give the series a chance. Just a suggestion, the fandom is passionate and can spoil things unintentionally during their discussions. If you do react to it, I'd highly suggest having someone read over the comments so that you aren't accidentally spoiled. Even if you don't post videos of it, I'd give it a try. It's a fun roller-coaster ride.

Really hope you react to this. It’s been my favorite show since I first discovered it. Would recommend reacting to the 4 color trailers first, then the seasons, and after each season recommend also reacting to the soundtracks for each season as well as World of Remnant; which is a little side show they made to explain some key aspects of the story. And also if things get depressing they also made a very funny side show called RWBY Chibi to cheer up the fans after certain events. Also recommend having a moderator for the comments because some people really like to spoil the show for new people as well as tell them to not watch it as they think it’s crap but still for some reason decide to stick around. Just have an open mind going into it and make your own opinions about it.
Anyways, can’t wait to see more of this hopefully.

If you pay attention, the openings tell an abridged version of the overall story. You should check out the full versions of the songs, also available on TH-cam.
The songs are, in order: "This Will Be the Day", "Time to Say Goodbye", "When It Falls", "Let's Just Live", "The Triumph", "Rising", "Trust Love", "For Every Life".
    Volume 9 is "Inside".
As for the animation style/artwork, The first 3 volumes were done on the 3D computer graphics Poser software with increasing elements from Autodesk Maya. Later volumes were exclusively done on Maya.
And I agree that the music drew me in as well, but the story and characterizations kept me interested.
For anime suggestions, other than RWBY, it depends on your interests. For combat based shows I suggest: 86, Tanya the Evil, MSG Witch of Mercury, Black Lagoon, and Gunsmith Cats.

I'm always amazed that RoosterTeeth found Casey and Jeff to do the music. They're just awesome. A little of the history. RoosterTeeth began by choreographing multiplayer Halo as a web series, Red vs Blue. That became enough of a success that they expanded, and at one point Monty Oum joined the crew. He is literally the best fight choreographer I have ever seen. Hands down. As RvB got to season 10ish, Monty sold them on one of his ideas, RWBY. All of this history folds into what you see. And then it ended. In season 2, Monty went into the hospital, and he didn't come out. Everything since then has been an act of faith in his vision.

You'd absolutely love RWBY. Everyone ends up enjoying it to some extent. The best part is that it isn't that big of an investment. The episodes range from like 7-22 minutes. The average is ~15 minutes per episode. But they pack A LOT onto that small time. The fights are some of the best parts of the series especially in the first three seasons. After that, the story draws you in as things start becoming clearer while other things grow cloudier. It's an interesting thing they've done with this show and it's amazing.
You did miss the V9 opening, it's pretty new so I understand how you may have missed it. It's a bit different from the other 8 openings though so you may want to react to that as well.

8 did change up the time signature a bit, it took a little while for me to settle into that one. The opening itself has some of the strongest visual storytelling but the music is more of an acquired taste.
6 was probably my favorite for a long time, that's the one you said was your second favorite. I had 5 and 3 at the bottom, 4, 8, 1, and 7 in the middle, and 6 and 2 at the top--not that any of them are bad or even mid, but that's my tier list.
The music is incredibly strong, partially because the musical artists (initially a father and daughter duo, Jeff and Casey Williams, though at this point it's Casey and her band) contribute to the storytelling, so everything fits very well (there's one VERY important plot point in particular that was introduced by Jeff).

So explaining the anime without spoilers
Season 1-3 starts off as a school anime to train warriors, it features four main girls, all of them really kick ass with pretty cool character arcs. after season 3 though the plot really takes off, and honestly it just keeps getting better, which is really cool to see. The whole thing just has fantastic characters, music, world building and really epic fight scenes. I can’t really say anything more without spoilers but I highly recommend.

While this web series is animated, it is not an anime. The creator(R.I.P.) stated that, while it is inspired by various media(film, television, video ganes, literature, and yes, even anime), it is a culmination of things, but is definitely not an anime. A lot of people that are new to the series usually just label it as such. Part of why, is the animation style (mainly the eyes) and some of the tropes. Also, RT, the producer of the show, struck a deal with CrunchyRoll, as they needed the money, and figured CR would be a fit to get more views, as opposed to their previous deal with Netflix.
Calling this an anime, would be the saying Stan Lee produced manga, and not comics. They are similar, but different.
Either way, whatever you call it, it's a great show with a banger of a soundtrack.
Edit: After Volume.... 8 (maybe 7?), an actual non canon anime was made with collaboration from RT. If you're looking to react specifically to anine, that wouud be the series to do so.

So, to answer some of your questions and maybe help you get started on the series:
    1. RWBY (pronounced as Ruby) is a webseries by Rooster Teeth that draws stylistically from both anime and classical fairy tales. Pretty much every character can be summed up as "what if this Fairy tale was an anime character with a dope-ass combo weapon," and that's RWBY in a nutshell. The original creator, Monty Oum, was a web animator who focused on action choreography and liked to set fights to music, and all of that has heavily influenced the series itself, even after his passing during the production of season 3. Though it should be noted that Rooster Teeth, and especially the RWBY team, are very kind towards reactors and content creators, so you'd have no issue reacting to the series in full.
    2. As for plot, it starts out as a typical "supernatural high school" "heroes vs monsters" deal but soon starts diving into more nuanced and lore-heavy stuff as the protagonists are made aware of greater forces stacked against them then they ever could have imagined, and conspiracies to keep it all hidden for the world's safety. Chess is a recurring motif for the series and suits the levels of planning and patience that all sides exhibit, most of which the protagonists are unaware of at the start.
    3. The best place to start for the series is the trailers that were released before the first season (or rather Volume). RWBY is unique in that its trailers are all a crucial part of the story, and important info is only found within. The trailers for the first Volume are in order: Red, White, Black, Yellow. I cannot recommend enough that this be used as the starting point for the series if you choose to continue.
I hope RWBY brings you as much joy as it has to myself and the community it has built.

    Probably the hundredth comment but:
RWBY (pronounced “ruby”) is an American made anime by Rooster Teeth. The show is about Ruby Rose (R), Weiss Schnee (W), Blake Belladonna (B), and Yang Xiao Long (Y) four girls who go to a prestigious academy that is meant to teach them how to be Huntresses. Hunters & Huntresses are the world’s guardians who fight forces of evil. These creatures are known as Grimm.
The show is incredible, definitely one of my favorite anime. Rooster Teeth loves when people react to the show so just give them a heads up when you start your reactions. Has 9 seasons and it’s a wild but awesome ride.
Watch the 4 character trailers beforehand to get a taste of each characters solo fighting style and to learn a bit about them. (They’re also animated by the show’s creator Monty Oum.)

As peeps have already stated on things and all.. i dont wanna repeat stuff so sorry if i do repeat stuff but...
RWBY (pronounced "ruby") Is a Westen Animated Show made by Rooster Teeth that is now an officially Anime with its own actually anime and being the first ever Westen Show that was dubbed in another language besides english as english was its first language then it was dubbed in Japanese because of its growing popularity in Japan... as the creators of RWBY actually got to go to Japan too see the premiere of the Japanese Dubbed.
Again.. as some peeps properly stated in the comments.. The show's pilot Trailer called "Red Trailer" was actually made by 1 person named Monty Oum ( R.I.P Monty, you are missed.) as it was a pitch to Rooster Teeth to have a show.. which got GRENNLIT and the go ahead so... we now have the show called RWBY that we all love and cherish,
Also The reason why the artwork was inproved sooo much during the openings is because as the show got more popular with the fandom (FNDM) and it grew and still is growing... It helped the shows improvement's and now.. we all are waiting for V10 to come out and were all very excited for it,
Again.. i dont wanna repeat stuff from others, but if you want more info on the whole thing, as a LONG TIME fan of the show and was 1 of the very few who actually got too meet Monty at a Con... Please dont be shy too reach out to me on more info on the show and whole thing in on itself. ^^

Openings, 1, 2, 5 & 6 are all bangers. I love this series. Yes, the animation does improve as they were able to invest more into it. The series has some great world building and mythology to it. The characters in many cases are derived from fairy tale lore. I don't wanna ruin the story arc with spoilers, but it is a lot of fun. You can tell the people involved in its creation have a lot of love for it. I'd be interested in seeing your reactions for the series.
Definitely check out the Red, White, Black, and Yellow trailers. Cheers.

    - RWBY (pronounced 'ruby') is not not actually an anime, it's American made (though there was an actual anime version of the first season plus expansions made a year or 2 ago)
    - On the OST for each volume there's an expanded version of each opening song (with an additional verse each)
    - watching all these openings does reveal some spoilers for the series.
    - the singer for all these opening is the same young lady (Casey Williams, her dad is the composer for the first 8 volumes and does most of the male lyrics, but at least 80% of the OSTs are Casey singing)
    - the first season the animation budget was pretty tight, but expanded each volume. Also they changed animation programs starting with Vol 3 (maybe 4).
    - the Vol 2 and 5 opening have always been my favourites.
    - RWBY is an abbrevation of the 4 main girls' names (Rube, Weiss, Blake, Yang) and also their main outfit colour (Red, White, Black, and Yellow) In fact the original trailers for RWBY were titled after the 4 colours.
    - the amount of foreshadowing that tends to show up in the early volumes is impressive, small notes and seemingly innocent comments pop up again 2 or 3 volumes later with new relevance/importance.
    - the vast majority of RWBY characters are inspired by/based on something, usually a character from a fairytale or book, but historical, legendary, and mythological inspirations also show up, as well as a few that are more pop culture. Trying to figure out the inspiration can be a fun game.
    - A common fan-saying (said by Ruby in Vol1, Ep 2) is "It's also a gun." This is because 90% of the weapons you see people use have 2 modes, a close combat form and a 'gun' mode for longer ranged fighting.

As others have mentioned, RWBY isn't technically an anime as it's made by the Western studio Rooster Teeth, but it undeniably has anime influences. And also as others have noted, RT has no issue whatsoever with people doing reaction content to their show, so if you do do any RWBY content in the future, no need to mask the visuals etc.
The basic premise of the show is that it takes place in a world filled with shadowy monsters called Grimm. Humanity exists mostly in four centralized kingdoms where people train as Huntsmen and Huntresses to defend the people from the monsters. Our main characters are Huntresses in training, and as they learn and grow, a greater scope plot is gradually unveiled.
As for the art, there was a big upgrade from volume 1, when the show was basically a proof of concept, to volume 2, when it was already successful and got given a budget, and then there was another big jump for Volume 4 when they switched graphics programs. That's not to say they haven't continued to improve the visuals, but those are the two biggest jumps.
And the music in general is very fun in this show. Listening to the OSTs is as much a part of the experience as watching the episodes :D
As for which opening is my favorite, Volume 2 hands down. Volume 3 is the most thematically appropriate to the content of the season, but as a song Volume 2s is the best.

If you liked the OPs, you should watch the trailers. They can really hype you up. In order there are the red, white, black and yellow trailers.
In a little spoiler free summary:
Volumes 1-3's main setting is a school, or more like an academy, where warriors are trained to defeat monsters and save humanity.
After that, Volume 4 starts a pretty high scale journey, that the heroes venture on.
The show is mainly an action fantasy series with really epic fight scenes, a bit flawed but cool world building, amazing characters and a great story, it's definitely worth a watch in my humble opinion.
In the first few volumes, the animation can be odd sometimes but that's because of RT's budget at the time. (And as you could see, it gets better each volume/season).
I really love this show overall. Does it have flaws? Yeah, but what show doesn't. This series gets a lot of unnecessary hate for some reason, but I still really like, would definitely recommend. 8/10

RWBY (pronounced Ruby) is an American made Anime inspired series. The Best way I can describe it without getting into spoilers is Imagine Harry Potter crossed with the Matrix with a Touch of the X-Men. The Animation starts out crude and simple but CONSTANTLY improves. The Story is a slow burn and very nicely laid out with lots of foreshadowing and callbacks. The Music is Next Level with each Volume OST being a treasure trove of music and background story telling. The Characters are very interesting and the Fight animation is second to none. Unfortunately the Fandom is a bit of a Dumpster fire, but are still appreciative of reactors like yourself. Note, If you choose to react to it, Rooster Teeth (the company that makes the show) is VERY reactor friendly and will allow you to post the entire show's episodes unedited (provided you respect their reactor guidelines) so you can sit back and enjoy the show instead of worrying about strikes and copy right issues. So I would HIGHLY recommend you go for it, you won't be disappointed. You should start with the Red, White, Black and Yellow trailers since this is where the story starts.

I personally don't consider RWBY an anime... There is some debate and apparently in Japan they will place it amongst the Japanese shows rather than the western, but while they certainly took a lot of inspiration from anime, I personally don't think the styles quite match up... The show feels more western overall... The storytelling, the designs, the animation style and whatever else, even if muted so you can't tell by how well the English and Japanese dubs line up with the mouth movements (The Japanese dub really doesn't match the animation very well... At least from what I've seen, since I normally watch with the original English)... It just doesn't seem quite the same... Unless we're talking about the spin-off series, RWBY Ice Queendom, which is actually an anime....
... But yeah, the show doesn't need to be an anime to be good or anything. RWBY is one of my favourite shows ever ^_^ ... It has its flaws, but it does so much cool stuff too... It started off as a kinda amateur, low budget webtoon kinda thing, but watching these openings you can kinda see how far the show has come since then... I would normally describe the show as Final Fantasy meets Grimm's Fairy Tales... I'm not sure it's the best way to describe it, but yeah... Kinda semi-post-apocalyptic Science Fiction-Fantasy hybrid, with slightly dark fairy tale themes... I think it's really neat... Some things are a bit hit or miss and have divided the fanbase, but I still love it... That said, I haven't seen volume 9 yet lol... I suspect I'll still love it anyway though.
    Either way, while it can be a bit cheesy and dated in places, one thing almost no one argues about is that the soundtrack is pretty great! And also, a lot of it ties into what's going on in the show... There's foreshadowing, there's getting deeper into the feelings or history of certain characters... There's a bit of meta stuff in some... Although some are just fun lol... Jeff and Casey Lee Willams (Father and Daughter) are responsible for pretty much all of the songs in the show.... When the show started production, I think Casey was about 13 or 14... You kinda just heard her voice mature over about 8 or 9 years of openings... I think the first might still be my favourite, but especially if you listen to the full versions of the openngs, some of the others give it a run for its money... This collection was missing the volume 9 opening... You might find it interesting,,, The visuals are pretty crazy... But if you're interested in trying the show out, it might be better to just watch the show and check it out when you get there... I assume you weren't paying too close attention, since you didn't mention certain things, but you may have narrowly missed some major spoilers for the show... I would have not recommended watching these before watching the show itself >_>;
Anyway, if you have any interest at all, I recommend watching the Red, White, Black and Yellow trailers (which are more like character shorts than trailers), then maybe give the first volume a try... There are many short episodes (many episodes got split in two for the first volume... I think they couldn't finish them in time due to small budget and team), so you might be better off watching the movie version, where they string everything together... But you could also watch the two parters together... Rooster Teeth are super cool with reactions, so it's a good show to react to... There is a good chance that they may still claim the video revenue, but you should never get any strikes and, while youtube might automatically block you sometimes, Rooster Teeth will usually unblock it (within maybe three weekdays) if you contest the block or email them about it.

My favorite was opening 6 I believe. The fighting scenes in this are quite good until a point where people have said it falls off because we lost the main animator and choreographer. The show is good, but i’ve heard it has a bump down in quality around chapter 7 or 8, not sure, and then the next chapter isn’t too bad.
As to what it’s about, I don’t really remember and what I do remember I don’t really know how to explain, but its fun. The fighting especially. Theres four trailers for it if you’re interested in it (one for each letter of RWBY) that will show off the fighting choreography.
Another thing is that the title has sort of a double meaning, since the main character is name Ruby after Ruby Rose. Which is another thing, that the main characters are loosely based on fairy tale characters like snow white.

In a world where monsters outnumbered humanity, teenagers sometimes choose to fight, becoming Huntsman and Huntresses. However, when learning to fight the obvious monsters in the world, you eventually learn that your fellow man can be the most monsterous of all.
The girls are all extremely talented young fighters, entering their first year of school to become powerful warriors. Quickly however, they become embroiled with national politics when a terrorist organization starts causing trouble in the city outside of the school.

Slightly more spoilery comment:the reason the girls are involved, despite being so young.
Two of the girls are daughters of Huntsman, the youngest having an up close encounter with one of the leaders. One is a rich heiress who's being targeted because of her family name. And the final is a former member who left because of the groups new focus on innocent's, and her need to bring her old boyfriend to justice.

Actually no, I'd say the exact opposite. The first 2 seasons are when its at its simplest and shallowest; 6-9 are its best with 9 being the overall best of the entire series so far. I agree that the songs in RWBY are fire. However, as for starting the show, you'd ultimately be setting yourself up for disappointment.
