The concept is interesting; Save money and renew your decor by painting hardware instead of replacing them. But in reality, frequent-contact items such as door knobs and striker plates soon show wear in the form of unsightly nicks and scratches. This means you would need to repaint a few weeks later or replace them altogether which is what you were trying to avoid in the first place. Not quite the bargain you thought it was. Just look up any DIY video on painting door knobs (even with this product) and read the comments. You'll find complaints, after only a few weeks later, about the scratches and then the eventual disclaimer that replacing your door knobs is preferable to refinishing if possible. This method is actually ideal if you're flipping the house and want to save a few bucks. But if you're going to live there, nuh-uh don't do it.

Enamel protective spray can extend the life of the finish, but on things like striker plates good luck. That spray paint will be ideal for my rusty ceiling registers.

What grit sandpaper do you recommend for the rusted floor vent?

A can of spray paint is almost the same cost as a brand new register...

You both need to be wearing a mask. Super dangerous to your health. Especially when your inside in the first place. ALWAYS try and spray outside. ALWAYS wear a good mask
